THE MOST BROKEN SKILL IN THE GAME OF VOLLEYBALL | PME PLAYS VOLLEYBALL

Hi there! I'm PMEvolleyball and I'm a Sophomore on the LBC Mens Volleyball team. Today I was able to get in the gym and run another open gym with the rest of my teammates. With volleyball practices starting next week, this is one of the last open gyms we will have until the season starts in late December. Also, the BROKEN SKILL I'm referring to is the lefty setter dump/swing. While not completely foolproof, I've found that it allows me to generate and orchestrate my offense with more options and less predictability for the other team, which is always a good thing. I plan to start recording most of our practices and competitions so you can see and follow us along our volleyball journey. I'm in no place to critique your technic, but I did find an early tell for when you are hitting on second contact. I guess its to gain more hight, but when hitting directly, you step into the jump with one foot first, like when approaching normally. On your jump set however, you always jump with both feet square. :]

I mean thats how you do it, need more of an approach to be in a better position to hit. Even if you read it as a blocker its insanely hard to react and get in the lefty trajectory; and if you do he can still set and leave you in the dust. Second option swing is not about deception, thats what dumps are there for

And the advantage of having a lefty turn and burn isn't being deceptive it is having a 2 ball where it is difficult to dig despite being obvious, then if the block jumps on the swing it is quite easy to see and tap to a 1 or D-ball with no one up.

this is my first year playing club which starts in December. im a freshman playing libero for varsity in hs so im super excited for club season!! do you have any advice at all? i lovee your videos btw, ive learned sm

Im the lib with the gray shirt. My advice for being a lib is to always be the loudest on the court and call everything ( who's serving, tell your team to cover, let your hitter know where to hit how much blockers they have, let your setters know what blockers are on the other side / who's the bigger and better blocker so they don't set the hitter that has the biggest block against them) stay low and on your toes always. For free balls move towards the middle of the court and always call everyone off unless you literally can't get it.

One piece i wish i heard when i was having trouble hitting outside is its better to start your approach farther back and beed to reach forward to hit the ball, then to start to far in and need to reach back to hit the ball
