    My three on the tree 68 GMC is tricky ...if you aren't careful and shift sloppy or lazy it will get stuck between gears on the shifter ,no big deal for me though . Love the color on your truck, mine is red ,my dad bought it new ,I been driving it since it was new .Now it's time to restore ,It was sitting for the last twenty years ,started right up with a shot of fuel, and some fresh spark sat there idling on twenty year old gas . I am now going on 69 years old , so I better get to It, sooner rather than later

      That’s awesome! The trucks are great, but the stories and memories that come with them are the best! Get her back roadworthy and enjoy. Restored or not, it will always be cool! Thanks for sharing and for watching!

    Great truck and it will make a cool project! You guys are making it too easy though… complete drivetrain, keys, title, minimal rust… it’s gonna be a cake walk hahah!

    Been looking for that truck forever. I do K20s take out the V8s and put it straight sixes. They are all patina except for one but that light green is on my bucket list. I got two fenders and a hood so far. You guys are lucky. Hoping you keep it as original as possible. Good luck with it. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.

      That great Frank! The 250s and 292s don’t get the credit they deserve. What year are you wanting to build with the light green clip and where are you from? I can keep my eyes out for you too if you want.

      @@C10TruckNerd I need a cab, doors, and bed in that color. I know I can never replicate it and simply replacing those parts would be far easier. I got some great K20s, one redone and on the road, one I drive daily and plow with and a great CT. Dept. if Public Works truck that plowed snow for 50 years. I try to fix the rot without destroying the pitina. Love your show. BTW a little tid but. As you know the carbs can need priming, have vapor lock, and idle poorly. A trick I found was installing a small electric fuel pump, removing the stock one, and installing a fuel filter with a return to the tank. You won't believe the difference and increase in milage. I'm getting over 20MPG. You can't imagine how much gas is returned to the tank that would be forced into the carb. I'm in NY 12545. All the best.

      @@horsedrag2468 I remember your trucks now! Great tip on bypassing the carb. I too nervous to start these things with all the unknow in the tanks anyway. Too bad you couldn't have gotten that clean 67 503 cab I had a while back. We just robbed some parts off a 68 in green in eastern Kansas last weekend. If you found what you were looking for, how far out would you want to travel to get it?

      @@C10TruckNerd Not too far, unfortunately. I'd consider shipping for the right deal. Isn't it a great thing in this day and age with electronics, check engine lights, and the new unfixable crap that we can own and drive these great basic trucks and help save the planet too? I think that message gets lost by the neighbors.

      They came with a small crank style jack that was behind the passenger side seat. They also came with a lug wrench and extension crank rod that was tucked in the passenger side cab corner. They looked similar to a modern crank style jack.

    Hey Chad, all around car guy here. Wanna see something cool look at the GMC Sonoma dually I built on my profile picture. Anyways I have a 72 GMC 1/2 ton short bed. I don't like the square hood, I have been told all I need to do to change it to the sloped hood is put a 68 hood, core support, hood latch and all on. Was told the fenders are all the same from 67 to 72 other than the 67 not having marker lights of course. Is there any truth to this?

    • @C10TruckNerd
      @C10TruckNerd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will check it out! I’m not the GMC truck nerd yet but trying. Lol. You are definitely on the right track. Luckily GMCs used the same fenders from 68-72 unlike Chevy. So you will need a 68 hood with trim on the front lip. 67-68 gmc radiator support, rad support mounts (thicker), there is a splash guard on the bottom of rad support 67-68 but not needed. Then you will need to remove the filler piece at the top of your existing grille (rivets). They used that to close the gap for the square hoods where 68 used the trim on the hood. If you message me on my Facebook page I can send you some pics of one my buddy did just the opposite. 71 grille went into a 68. I hope that made sense.
