Wow! I've never seen any exceprt of this Raymonda before. Thanks for posting. It looks like a gala rather than the full ballet. Which year and place was this performance?
Wow. Great footage, Zoe. What a coincidence. Saturday night, we went to a talk about designing costumes for this ballet. I've never seen it. Now after the talk and your footage. I can't wait until May. Ours will be a new staging by Houston Ballets artistic director Stanton Welsh. It's so awesome you have that access. Thanks for posting this.
I’m struggling a little with precisely about what it is you’re excited, as it might be any number of things, but I believe the costume designs here are from the Rudolph Nureyev production. There might be some similarities for the designs for the Stanton Welch production (I wouldn’t know), but there may be many differing elements. Edited for a grammatical error and a typographical one. Apologies.
@jocelynhamilton7624 Well, after hearing the talk about the storyline and seeing this clip. Second the talk given by the costume/set designer Roberta Guidi di Bagno. Was interesting. I didn't know that there are very few people that remain that do both and that she still does constructed sets. The use of curtains in a strategic ways to change scenes for this particular ballet. Ballet is beautiful and to know the back story on choosing fabrics, dying cleaning, fitting, etc was interesting. It's just adds another dimension to my love of the art. But I loved this video. Does that answer your curiosity:)
Oh wow, what a coincidence!! You will love it. Such beautiful music as well. Sounds very interesting about the costumes. Look forward to hearing your thoughts in May xx
It's not a ballet that's produced a lot here. Sylvie guillem is great in it. Marguerite and Armand was great. Shame polunin lost the plot such an incredible dancer but obviously had problems and was never the same after he left the royal. I saw him several times after but he obviously wasn't training enough.
Thank you! 🎉
This was a very special partnership. They also did a spine-tingling Marguérite & Armand at the Royal Ballet.
