    • @SarahIngleOfficial
      @SarahIngleOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      Of course!! There are more types of curly hair than there are straight hair so it makes sense to me 💜☺️
      Plus my mom has curly hair and she always struggled knowing what to do with it growing up because everyone around her had straight or wavy hair. Hopefully this can help a curly haired kid in a way my mom wished she could get advice growing up 💜

      Yes, thank you so much for giving us curly haired gals the attention we deserve too!! No brushing curly hair when dry NO!!!!!! NEVER!! It breaks like crazy that way. And since many of us have to use water and washing to re-form effed up curls, the minimalist washing techniques are best. Sure I can wash once a week, but after a few days my curls are all messed up from simply living life, though the satin turbans make a huge difference to extending the lifespan of those coils.

    I never knew brushing before bed helped with hair at all, I just thought it was for the blood flow to the head to help people sleep. It helps Me sleep when I can't. It's like a before bed massage. Especially the brushes that vibrate. And at some level the lymphatic system is activated while you sleep it helps with circulation at least.

      I usually put my hair in a French braid in the back before I go to bed, but since I have to stretch back to do the braid it’s pretty loose, slit doesn’t pull my hair too much.

    I have a tip. Like you said, chlorine is bad for your hair but there is some kind of spray that I think you can put in it to protect it and keep hair from turning green. Not the same as not having chlorine in your hair at all, but it helps. I haven’t used it but I have heard of it. Also use a swimmer shampoo after you go swimming. It really helps get the chlorine out of your hair.

    Actually... in the long run, it's better to wash your scalp pretty often. Sebum cause irritation and even dermatitis (dandruff is a form of it),it's a dermatological scientific truth, and washing it enough with actual surfactants is linked to a superior density. Placing the length of the hair higher than the health of the scalp isn't a great bet. To limit breakage, conditioning is a better option than letting the "natural oils" sit on your scalp for prolonged periods of time.

    I used to think that I needed 5 different types of styling products for my hair to look good. Today I just use a leave in and a hair gel. And it's not even "curly hair gel" . It's just normal hair gel marketed to boys and it's 1/3 of the price of the curly girl hair gel that I used to use + it does the same thing. I just make sure I buy the low hold version

    What I do is use a conditioner that you spray on that also protects your hair from heat products. I do a slow blow dry and leave a bit wet. I also use a wet brush, where you can brush your hair either wet or dry. It's gentle on the hair. I told my soon to be new hairstylist to not cut my hair. I'm doing an experiment.
    I also read that keratin treatments are bad for people with my type of hair: stubborn to grow, fine hair. Keratin would be too heavy on my hair and would break it. I use the products that really work and are all natural. I tell people about it. Love this channel!!!

    • @nathdominguezmazhari1094
      @nathdominguezmazhari1094 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have dandruff regularly but in my case I think it is mostly because, well, 1) my hair is quite dry so if I don't condition it dandruff gets worse, and 2) I have the really bat habit of teasing mi scalp and picking it as a form of stim (especially when I just washed it), so, maybe if you sometimes do that try not to, and remember to always condition it. As my dandruff is (mostly) because of those two things my advise probably isn't so useful but maybe trying to keep those things in mind might help. Plus, touching your hair and scalp will always make it dirtier so yes, try to be kind to it. ^^

    A random question popped into my head while watching this - what about sun exposure? Is sun good or bad for hair? I know people with natural black hair need about twice the amount of Vitamin D than people with naturally light colored hair - but I don't know what sun does to hair directly...any thoughts?

      On skin, sun has benefits, or is necessary, for Vitamin D, but hair is dead and would not be able to produce something nice and channel it back into your body. So I'm afraid sunlight only damages hair. UV radiation does things to the core of the hair, lightening it and making it more fragile. It's probably a complex and fascinating chemical process, but that's about all I know :)

      @@sprotte6665 Sunlight is bad for skin too! There is no such thing as a safe tan, and most visible skin aging is caused by sunlight. Dermatologists recommend getting your vitamin D from food!

      @@personmcdudeguy Vitamin D experts recommend getting your Vitamin D from the sun, the one from food is not nearly as bioavailable as the one from the sun. I've had a tan maybe twice in my life and I'm vitamin D deficient anyway. I've recently started wearing sunscreen daily (on the days I go outside), and I look at a UV Index app to tell me when I need to take care. I actually like wearing sunscreen, after buying tons that were bad and now rot on a shelf I found one that I like. But noone can convince me that wearing sunscreen inside or in the months when seeing the sun is a rare event is necessary.

    Hi Sarah! I just found your channel today and have been watching a lot of videos. I still don't quite understand the growth fase. I feel as if every time I try to let me hair grow longer it just stops at a certain point and doesn't continue growing. Is this genetic or is it because I am not doing even of the things you mention in your videos? Would love to hear! Thank you so much
