I was pumped when it was first announced. Then I had a reduction in expectations during the PTR. But, now that it's live, I'm excited again. Queues aren't fun, but being on a full server is. The normal ebbs and flows will happen over time, like with absolutely everything in life, but it's worth playing right now. It's worth being excited.
The improvement to the gear system has taken priority in this expansion and theyve nailed it. End game loop needs to be the next focus. Open world random events, like town invasions, is a pretty frequent ask and makes sense. The expansion for what it is, is worth the purchase agreed. Its a great game, with still a lot of potential, hope we see it.
AGREED. The rework of gear is HUGE for the day to day New World Experience. Its hard to sell a fix back to people but if they can include the Endgame rework during this year for free I think New World is in a really good place.
I’m having more fun now than I’ve had any time over the last two years. The game is in an amazing place. It’s not perfect, but it’s solid. The combat is what has kept me playing this whole time. The end game is way better now and the new gearing system is great. They have a lot of work to do as far as content is concerned. We still need more PvP content. New battleground, ranked 3v3s. PvE needs legitimate 20 man instanced raids. When those are added it will be pretty damn perfect.
If its a good movie that I rather go for that 2h great expirience. Definitelly worth more than 100h if boring mob slashing. Plus I have 98h to do other good movies/games/life instead of wasting it here.
I want to come back, but struggled to get groups to run anything except for solo content - except for the few weeks following launch and then following fresh start (where everyone was starting over together). Does the new expansion have a group finder that actually results in filled groups? I think I heard they were moving away from 10 tiers of difficulty (was too many), but not sure if this solves it (solved defined as most groups filling instead of most attempted groups never even forming). Every active company wants only active players (fair), but even in large PvE companies, I still found that people would only ever run M10s with their static group (or have abandoned running dungeons all together), leaving everyone else struggling just to get shards to level up our gear - also didn't help that progressing was pointless for the last 6 months as we waited to learn what they planned for gear evolution (I believe my old 625 items are just trash now, another disincentive to return). Does anyone know for sure if we can upgrade our old 625 items to the new cap, or do we need to farm new (higher level) base items? Also, did they fix the bugs? The bug I'm tracking (as indicative of the group of bugs that has been around since launch) is the one where our items bug out and show the wrong icons. I'm guessing it is super hard to fix for some reason, and I'll come back only if they do the hard work to fix these launch bugs. So, anyone able to confirm if the item bug was squished, or if this is still an issue? The expansion looks probably good (so I do kinda want to play), but I'm looking for a sign that they game will turn around, and for me, that sign will be if they fixed this launch bug or not. Also, I have more games to play than I have time (BG3 & 2077, after already beating and dropping Starefield), so I'm willing to just stay on the sideline unless they fix this (and hopefully give us a better inventory manager).
My best gaming experience BY FAR is when I played World of Warcraft for many years in the first game and DLCes. Eventually, it became overwhelming and too much clutter and over time it even turned into another game from what I played for many years. Last 10 years I have still looked for games that will give me the same high as WoW did. I was hoping New World would create something, but... Not one single game has come close. Not even "Blizzard" has managed to do so (though Blizzard is no longer Blizzard it was that created the good games back in the day)
Nostalgia is a dangerous drug lol Finding new experience is often much better when you take things for what they are. New World is a good game that you can get your moneys worth in, but i dont think anything will deliver the same feelings MMOs did back in the day! Thanks for watching
What made WoW fun for everyone was how hard it was at first. It was fun but brutal. It made completion worth it because it was earned. The game forced players to group up to complete dungeons and the rewards were great. Over time the game became way too easy. Plus after each expansion, your hard earned gear was obselete. People just got sick of the gear treadmill and easier mechanics.
This is how I've felt. It's a cool expansion -- but it's not really filled with content at all. Getting to 65 within a couple of hours (easily might I add) and then people getting near 700 within a day...what is there to do? Run the ONE new expedition a few times? Collect a few artifacts? We need a deeper endgame system...make it take a bit longer to hit max level, then another while to get to 700 by doing the new M3 expeditions, open world pvp, etc. It'll feel WAY better if it requires a little effort and keep people invested longer. Handing it away for free immediately will have people bored within the week.
Add masteries/progression past max for Crafting/Weapons. Give people like a cool title or a silly free skin or something based on their mastery with a weapon or crafting profession. That'd be a cool start imo.
100%. I am a returning player and I not necessarily a hardcore one. I still got most my gear to 625 before the update, taking a lot of breaks from the game in between. I also finished the add-on's quest line in a couple of hours easily and now feel like it's a grind again. This time without expertise and not to 625 but to 700. With only one new instance and a couple of PVE/PVP additions. I feel that the community has asked for so many useful things to be added into the game but this add-on is really just a small content add-on that re-sets the gear-grind in my humble opinion. I was actually excited to play again but noticed that my EU Server that is fully populated had not a single person looking for dungeon groups at 10pm CET. I mean, okay, maybe they are all doing that within their companies and tbh I still have to find an active one. But I don't see myself running the same Mutations again and again. Maybe I'm just not an MMO person - cba to grind all the professions and never could be. And playing the game itself constantly reminds me of how good the game could actually be. And the quest-line actually also did, with these trials at the end. That could be so much more fun. But I highly doubt the game will improve in that way. It's probably rather with D4 and so many other games. Make them feel busy with repetitive content that takes long to complete and try to make enough money out of that. It's a company after all. But that destroys so much creative potential.
I’m not a big fan of MMOs so I’m kinda tough on them. I really enjoyed Tera I could play it solo, I enjoyed ESO but needed people to play with, and I’ve just got New World (no DLC yet) but I’ve been enjoying playing it solo
Honestly either you like it or you don't. Most of the people who've left seem to be the sort of player who've got the attention span of Cocaine Bear. They blow through the challenges, and the PVP and the levels and get bored, get irritated, tell everyone its dead, and go play GTA. I like the medieval feel, the environment, the alchemy and all.
Blow through? There is a few hrs of things to do in this update unless you are the type of person to want to get every little achievement but that's not common.
Hopefully they will eventually shift into the unlock and keep forever model. Its a much better approach that ultimately yeilds more income over time. I am much more likely to buy a season pass if I know i can go back to complete it.
well thius game its fueirht trashd if evryone its thinking about playing this indie game consider they blocked the transfer to 99% of server so you cant play with your firend and you cant ask a refound, max capicity of one server its 2,7k player. in 2008 a wow private server made ina teen romm was containing 10k player , all for sponsor this shit game and made amazon scam money luck you
it's a reskin of an existing zone, this I find deeply worrying; had this been an new zone, then I would of been excited. This simply screams they were not spending any more money expanding the game, this seems more like a lets see how this goes, if people come back maybe we will continue to grow the game. I think this was a weak update, they had already made travel easy without adding mounts. Servers are broken, 2500 cap was a terrible decision, still is, I don't think they can fix this. It's also a necessity to own the expansion to play the game, I'll wait longer and see what happens before wasting further money on the game.
I just wonder how many MMO's besides Final Fantasy 14 have enough content in their game to keep players happy. I just don't see how these companies keep their players happy. Some players will grind out the content in a couple of days and then become bored. Like seriously complete everything playing 10 - 12 hours a day constantly. Then your casual players will slowly get there and it could take a few weeks. I like New World but as a filthy casual I rarely reach end game in any mmo's that I play. I normally get bored with the leveling grind, crafting time sinks, uninspiring questlines and just delete the game after a month. Am I the only one that does this?
Why don’t they at least let’s the muts just keep going higher. Instant endgame. At least it’s something. We got leaderboards. So you’ll see who’s getting high keys
New world needs more chase items. There needs to be multiple raids where the reward shakes up the game. Chasing builds / items and having a fun mechanic that provides that is the formula. IDK, I think there needs to be giga boss uniques, ultra rare drops, that really send your character to the next level. Makes me think of D4, why did it fail? Because the end game chase system sucked. It all felt so meaningless after awhile. WoW had a great chase system. I fear New World is too little too late.
After you get the better new gear yes, until then, just use what you have. I've done the entire new content MSQ and all of the side stories with my 625 gear.
has the gear grind improved? i got burned out farming elites and expeditions endlessly just to get that one piece with that one ward and it just got old real fast. I don't mind farming/grinding, its part of all MMOs, but this gear grind was too much for my liking
there is no ward or banes anymore so yeah it improved a lot, you need only 1 gear set for PvE and 1 for PvP now and you will do just fine. Also resilience is gone (PvP bis perk on every gear) so there is much more flexibility in PvP gearing. You will still probably need to change pieces in PvP if you want to play different weapons because of different weapon perks
1:00 This mindset incentivises devs to just copy-paste their content, making everything a grind. Games shouldn't yield some arbitrary number of hours played per dollar spent, they should have fun, tailored content. If at the end of the grind you find out that you wasted your time because the end game is shit, it's not money well spent. You just gave a developer money that he didn't deserve.

Its a comparison piece to seperate the value of the expansion cost vs the impact on the long term quality of the game. The Gear rework and the addition of Artifacts and Mounts are huge, but the End game is still the same and warrants the "unenthusiastic" demeanor. Im hoping to hear something soon about next years plans. If it includes a Raid and reworks to invasions/Territory Wars then were in business
