What to do with your Explosion Box Score Board!

- Good morning! This is the tutorial I know a lot of people have been waiting for. I am here as part of the Country Craft Creations Design Team to show you how to use this awesome little tool by We Are Memory Keepers. Explosion boxes have been around for years, but are getting popular again, and this score board makes it very easy to create. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! I have been coming up with several ideas that I am going to show you here today, and there will be more to come! This, for me, is a must-have tool. You can get it at Country Craft Creations, at countrycraftcreations.com and I know you will love it!
I am going to show you how to navigate the score board to make different things such as explosion box pages, boxes and lids, squash and gatefold cards, and more. I will have examples of projects. A full, start-to-finish tutorial on my own designs will be coming soon. I know this is a long video, but it is well worth it to see what this board can do and to show you some (and I mean some) of the other things you can do with it.
Since the video is so long, if you are looking for something specific, here is a timeline of what I will be talking about...
Beginning-12 minute mark, projects I have come up with, show and tell examples
12-51 minute mark, making the explosion box pages (there are 3 examples in the instructions that come with the board, I talk about 12 different pages)
51-57 minute mark, boxes
58-1:06, squash and gatefold cards
1:06-1:17, my design for gift boxes of different sizes
1:17-1:24, gift card insert for a gift box
1:24-1:48, an example explosion box I have almost completed, finish it with you and how to put the boxes together into the full explosion box

Below is a link to my blog where I will have a "cheat sheet" of measurements for you. The directions that come with the board do not list a lot of these measurements that I have figured out, so it is a good reference for you. Thank you for sharing, as much as I love making explosion boxes sometimes I get "blocked" and don't go as fancy as I done them. Tried looking for the cheat sheet but my computer blocks it, will watch the video again to take notes. Now I'm making 12 explosion boxes for Halloween with candy inside a cauldron from my Cricut for family & friends. I made one that had a piñata inside but this one you would pull strings i/o hitting with a stick. Well thanks again you don't know how much your video helped. An idea: Use the heart template to cut the corner square into a fold-over heart pocket.

You just got a new subscriber from this awesome tutorial. I have already purchased all of the dies from Crafters Companion for $$$ and I haven’t even looked at them yet. I’m now just trying to get my valentine cards done. I’m very slow because I am OCD. There are so many tutorials that I want to do, however, the one making the tutorial is not a good teacher and you are. Don’t worry about the length because that is what makes it easier to follow. I just ordered the board even though I have all of the dies. It looks easier and can do so much more. I just love making gift boxes. Can you make a rectangle box? Maybe for a 5 x 7 card ? Maybe even with an acrylic lid? I’ll keep my eyes open. Thank you so much,

The explosion boxes are made from layers of square paper scored to fold into a box.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 You will love this board. I have done so many different things with it, so check out my other tutorials…I’ve done way more than explosion boxes. As for the notcher, I haven tried that. I think it would work. I just haven’t done it. If you do try it please let me know how it works! Have fun!
We are Memory Keepers has enough space on the lower part of the board to list cover sizes and gift box sizes. It would be nice if they also listed the size to cut the decorative papers.
To cover mine I measured each square and subtracted 1/8". It would be easier if there was a chart, that's for sure!

Believe it or not, I got them at the Dollar Tree. They work great and are 6 for $1. I did get a couple of packages where 1 clamp didn't work right, but for the most part, they work great!

As a visual learner I became very frustrated because of the use of black paper for demonstration purposes. I heard what you said but could not see clearly what you were doing. Please use lighter paper so that all of us can see what is beige done. You are an extremely creative and knowledgeable person. Thanks from sharing.

Witch glue do you use? The lines are wonderful small and straight.

I’m a newbie to this kind of crafting, so this is a basic question. You use carsick for the boxes and lids? And to cover with patterned paper, do you just cut up to each of the folds as opposed to covering around the fold? Thanks!
Hi! Welcome to your new obsession! I use cardstock and then cover with patterned paper. But I don’t cover around the folds, just on the flat areas. I cut the paper 1/8” smaller than the piece I’m covering. I hope that helps!
do you have the instructions on the wrap around wedding explosion box you made in this video
I did not do a "formal" tutorial on this box, but all of the pages I made are demonstrated in this video. They are, in order, the wrap around page, the bottom pocket page, the gatefold page, the trifold page, the folded page (version of the wrap around) and the belly band page, followed by the xxs box. Do you have to use the heart on the corners of the outer page of the explosion box?
No you don't, it is a decorative thing. You can leave the corners as is or cut them so you get the octagon shape if you want. It's all up to you!
