    I don't get why most of these celebrities always want to attach themselves with some poor upbringing. Her dad owned pubs she was middle class. I don't think she spent a day without food, running water, continuous supply of electricity, good schooling, good clothes and a bit of money. She was 1 when she came to the U.K what does know about being a refugee please give me a break.

    "My father didn't want to attend the army, he chose to bring up his children instead" - "attending" the army was compulsory military service that every male citizen of Yugoslavia did. A year in the armed forces, after turning 18. It was military training. Like in Israel. It didn't prevent anyone from raising children.
    Secondly, the war "that was about to break out" broke out in Slovenia Croatia and my own Bosnia Herzegovina. She left Kosovo in 1991. The war in Kosovo started in 1998. So she was not a refugee. An economic migrant perhaps. Not a refugee. I get that it's good for her business image to fly the refugee flag but it really offends those of us who came face to face with machettes, death squads, and bullets during the Yugoslav Wars. So a little honesty Rita Ora would be appreciated. You left in 1991. You were not a refugee but a migrant.

      Yeah, life was dandy in the YU army in 1991 for anyone other than Serbs, wasn't it ? And Albanians were treated just the same as everyone else...
      Oh.
      And life was dandy in 1991 in Kosovo, there was no oppression, no military occupation, the Serbian government hadn't closed down the University and sacked almost all Albanian state employees.
      Oh.

      How low knowlege you have. Albanians in yougoslavia after Milosevic regim were like palestinian in israel now. They were abused from military, and lived discriminated from serbian's. Yes 98. Quite elaborate, but not quite true. I am from Serbia. Even though what she says is not quite that bad, you got it all wrong. "Šiptari" were treated very bad for the last 20 - 30 years in Yugoslavia in general. So, all in all it might be true what she is saying.

      If that is what a refugee is, then my parents were refugees too, heck, then so many people are refugees. She just escaped a bad economical situation from back in Kosovo, her dad may have decided that his childrens future could be brighter in the UK , nothing more than that. So many people went from their home country to Switzerland, Germany; Austria, etc. She is no world wonder

    hard to believe she can really identify herself with refugees....they were upper middle class and you obviously do not have any memories back to when you were 1 years old. Especially since 99% of parents automatically shield you from any discomfort.
    So....she really grew up in the UK from Day 1 so to speak.
    But I guess it's all good if she uses her fame to be an ambassador for noble causes.

    She has lived in England for 23 years?
    How exactly was she and her family refugees 23 years ago? According to her wikipedia they came to England in 1991, The Yugoslav wars lasted from 1991-1999. The war in Kosovo was in 1998-1999, there was not a war as far as I know in Kosovo in 1991.

    • @100domathon
      @100domathon 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +MainstreamPoPsucks3 Kosovo had it's Autonomy taken away in 1989 and was put under the control of the Milosevic regime. It led up to the 1998 war. There was already some violence in Kosovo before 1998.

    I wonder how Rita knows what it is really like to be a refugee when she was only one years old when she came to the UK? It is very ironic to see Blair there when you consider what he did to Iraq and its people, causing them to be refugees in the first place. It would be nice to have seen Rita with her natural hair colour and without a ton of makeup.

    She is not a 'Kosovar' or 'Kosovan' she is an ethnic Albanian. and Kosovo is just a northern Albanian province in the current Balkan ethnic map. Lets not play the stupid Western game of calling things fake names - instead let's call things what they are, and maybe we will have a chance at peace and prosperity (in a world without capitalism, of course).

      @RedFlagSaid 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ANONYMOUS ANONYMOUS LADY That's just it! The Prishtina protectorate IS AN ALBANIAN TERRITORY - it has been ethnically cleansed of native Serbs. So the 'other Kosovars' WERE Serbs (which the KLA butchered during and after the 1999 NATO campaign) but they are no more. This is what the play of words hides.

    • @anonymousanonymouslady4819
      @anonymousanonymouslady4819 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Redža Levi Sad that Prishtina is being ruled by an international law. That's 1 thing i don't like. There is nothing wrong by calling yourself to your homeland. Nothing wrong with that. But sometimes she confuses the audiance in other interviews. Where she says i speak Kosovan with my parents, now that does not exist Kosovan language!! It's the Albanian language. So there is a huge difference between an language by with you identify yourself through your country.

    • @RedFlagSaid
      @RedFlagSaid 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ANONYMOUS ANONYMOUS LADY I'm deeply troubled by the ethnic cleansing in the region and by the unevenness of criminal indictments - I'm a muslim from Bosnia, but I live in the US, looking at Kosovo, the place where the former state started to crumble, I can't help but notice that none of the KLA commanders have been prosecuted and many of the witnesses have been killed mysteriously. Being a NATO protectorate is bad on the short term, avoiding reconciliation and justice is bad on the long term.

    of course she and her family were refugees when firstly came in the uk..
    However, she's from kosovë.
    This is what every albanian claims to be when entering great britain.
    At the moment, British government is investigating if they're are indeed from kosovë, if the opposite it's proven, then they're in trouble..
    Keep up the good work rita!!

    So here in the comments section we have butt-hurt Albanian nationals trying their hardest to claim Ora as their own.
    Meanwhile ignoring the sovereignty of the nation of Kosovo.
    All the more so ignoring the fact that Ora is actually more British than anything else, she has been in the country since 1 years of age and has British Citizenship.
    She actually relates more to the British people much more than she does with Kosovans. This is common practise for people of poor nations to make a name for themselves by means of honouring a former resident of the country of origin. Forgetting the fact that this individual *fled the nation because it absolutely sucked and living there would be total hell, thus the reason why they left.*

      BeamingSplendor they left cause her family was Albanian and Albanians in Kosova were being slaughtered. My family left from Kosova as well during that time and people of Kosova are Albanians. We don't identify as Kosova but Albanian or Dardanet. ALBANIANS are native the the Balkans and are tribes men. Albanians are divided by tribes so Albanians of Kosova are a different tribe than the Albanians of Albania, Greece, Macedonia and montenegro. These people are the surviving tribes of the Illyrians. Albanians didn't settle into europe from anywhere like the slavs and romans, ottomans or greek. Albanians were the first to inhabited the Balkans and we called it Illyria. I have lived my whole life in the USA but I don't identify as an American. Albanians identify by our roots, and we are raised around Albanian culture and not American the only time we were around American culture was at school and work but still was raised with Albanian traditions and culture and were always around Albanian people. There is a large Albanian community and we all hang out together. I've never had an American in my house before not that they're not welcomed but we prefer to stick with our own people.. Again we identify by our "ROOTS" and not where we live.

      As to your first claim, judging buy the way you've worded the response and the language used, i very much doubt it.
      You do like to throw the term 'bigot' around don't you? Judging from some of your other comments you come across as an anti English hate filled bigot yourself with a chip on your shoulder.
      I don't hate anybody, but were always told the roads, railways hospitals & schools are badly overcrowded mixed with a huge housing shortage. So why do we have an immigration policy that allows 650,000 people to walk into the country every year to compound these problems? If there was unlimited space, resources and money id gladly welcome anybody in, but there isn't so i don't.

      @samiaziz5050 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Robbie Lawson If I'm prejudiced against a certain group of people it's people like you who (in your other comments) spread hate and lump all immigrants together and speak of them like vermin that need to be gotten rid of. I think you know the people coming here usually are fleeing a war torn country and the consequences of a broken down economy, contributed to not in small part by colonization by Britain and other European countries. The very wealth we have, the ''overcrowded'' hospitals (which is almost nothing compared to other countries providing free healthcare) and system we have here is possible because we took wealth and resources from other countries. We can't even distribute it evenly among the people we have, with the richest 5 families having as much as the poorest 20% of the country, and then we choose to blame this gap on the immigrants and the poor.
      I know you have made up your mind about immigrants and you have probably surrounded yourself with people who have the same views so your opinions won't change with one youtube commenter, which is why initially I didn't bother trying to debate with you. But now I write this for all the bigoted and racist comments left unresponded to in the comments of youtube.
      I find it funny how as soon as someone is called out on their racism or bigotry the person is accused (usually by white people, though I honestly don't know why or the skin colour of yourself) of being anti English and ''not loving my country enough''. *I like it very much and fight for it to be a cohesive society where people of different colours, ethnic origins, class and education get along with and respect each other.* I work for no fee to overcome language barriers faced by women and teens who were brought here by the sole breadwinners of their family, who had no choice or say in coming here but are still faced with prejudice, people calling them names and throwing things at them in the street. I work to help them function better and integrate into a society where many people judge them by an accent they did not choose to speak in and a colour of skin they did not choose to be born in. It may be worth noting some of the wives do persuade their husbands to take them back but that is a small minority. Well that's what I'm doing in my anti Englishness. I've also decided if I ever need to move to another country (where I will enjoy the title of expat and not immigrant purely because I am British) my taxes will still be paid here because it is the country and the Labour government that allowed me to get the education to earn what I do. What are you doing to make this country better? Other than whinge I mean? I genuinely am interested.
      I also work for this overcrowded NHS. Almost anyone in the higher levels of admin or healthcare or both will agree it's not hugely the immigrants that make it crowded (Inverse Care Law means they're not usually the ones receiving care) but the huge budget cuts placed by a government... one who IMHO seems to think it's in debt but doesn't do one iota to taking taxes from people who cheat and people who actually don't need the money. As an NHS related example just recently they talked about reducing the starting salary of Dentists (highest in the country) to make it equal with the others .. well you know how that turned out.

      Write as much as you want, I don't see how you can take the moral high ground after you said "i hope bigots like you die out by the next generation", what a disgusting thing to say. I don't think highlighting the fact that the influx of cheap foreign labor over the last 20 years has being a major factor in the deterioration of pay and working conditions qualifies as spreading hate?
      As for your dream of a cohesive society based on respect, its a nice idea but wake up its never going to happen, and its not just the fault of 'the big bad white man', Muslims prefer to live side by side, so do Sikhs and Jews
      You do sound anti English, because in some of your other comments you and others point to "Stolen Wealth" and "Colonialism". When you make a statement like that the inference could be taken that you hold English people living today culpable somehow for the crimes of the empire which is 'residual resentment' I'd class as a form of bigotry.
      I actually agree with you about Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria, British and American actions have been reprehensible over the last 15 years and im aware that a lot of migrants are only reaching Europe due to the chaos in Libya. Teflon tony seems to have been rewarded for his middle eastern endeavors & running Britain into the ground when what he really deserves is a firing squad
      Well Sami im just a working man not quite the Humanitarian visionary & philanthropist you obviously are are. In response to your first paragraph though if its any consolation the only group in society i despise are the hard left progressive liberals, Anti Fascist and PC thugs who sit on their perch of self anointed righteousness telling people what to think say and feel, instantly setting upon anybody who holds a different opinion.

    • @samiaziz5050
      @samiaziz5050 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robbie Lawson Hoping that bigotry, racism and any other kind of xenophobia die out by the next generation is not a bad thing? Like, you are a bigot of this generation and I really do hope there aren't any more bigoted people, racists, or phobics that spread hate in the next generation. I don't think that's immoral at all, of course I can still take the moral high ground after saying that.
