As a Birmingham fan who's watched the Wrexham series it's a bit surreal to be suddenly playing them. I feel it's come a month or so too early for us as they are clearly a form team who know their game.
Blues on the other hand are still learning to gel. We should have the quality to see Wrexham off but as a team we aren't quite there yet.
It should be noted that despite this we still are undefeated with 10 points from 4 games so it's not like we can't get results.
As a Wrexham supporter I agree with you and have said that from our point of view we are playing you at the right time because I don’t think Birmingham have got into their stride yet.
I know one thing, the atmosphere is going to be electric and the singing from both ends will be something to behold!
@@daveroberts-bridgnorth yeah, another full house at St Andrews and I know you've sold your end out too. It will be an interesting clash of styles on the pitch, honestly I'm not sure how this could go, we are quite vulnerable on the break but we boss possession, shots etc stats and mot teams we've played have been dead on their feet last 15 min. I could see this going either way but I reckon score draw.
@@daveroberts-bridgnorth nice point of view, I myself don’t like arrogance and would be happy with a good well played draw I will be there in the tilton singing my heart out KRO 💙
pussy
Exactly what I was thinking. When I saw it on the schedule, the first month looked like another potential disasterous start for Wrexham, and way too soon to play Birmingham City in Birmingham. But Wrexham has simply taken the chemistry and gel of the end of last year's club, and added new pieces, with other big new names in the wings, which has made everyone elevate to a League One high level. Now we're playing at the top of our game, while you're learning to gel. We got very lucky, with 3 huge away games, out of the way, while we were ahead of everyone else. Don't be shocked if Wrexham wins this game, or draws, while Birmingham will be ahead when they play in Wrexham in 2025.
Looking forward to Monday night I hope it’s a good advertisement for league one being on sky KRO 💙
League 1 is a fascinating division because there are several clubs one would not expect to be in the third tier, like Bolton, Huddersfield and Charlton. Not quite the level playing field one finds in the Championship but the results can be unpredictable.
Hoping for a boring 2-0 blues win but probably won't get it. Interesting how the starts of both clubs have added to the fanfare around this fixture. Blues to be fair in the league have got better each game and while I get the contrast in styles giving 70% of the ball to say a Peterbourgh is very different to giving us 70% of the ball. One thing for sure a sell out under the lights at St Andrews (@ Knighthead Park 🤣) is quite something especially with a energised and positive fanbase!

Birmingham City 0 vs Wrexham fc 1
Blues fan here, it’s got nil nil written all over it with us having around 80% possession..
lol, that would be quite a game. Some of the Blues podcasters are pointing out that the Blues are giving up goals every game and Wrexham is leading the league in goals so…they expect scoring from both teams this game.
If Wrexham can get a result against Birmingham it sets a big marker and sends a massive statement. I wouldn't write them off, having said that Birmingham should win this match. It won't be easy but they should win. I'm going to predict lots of goals, 3-2 win for Birmingham.
I'm really not that confident going into this as a blues fan. Game's come very early for us, Wrexham are settled and effective, yes we've been winning games but still getting used to our style and it's not quite there yet. We're also prone to conceding goals. It'll be a great game hopefully, a clash of styles, plenty of eyes on it. I'll be very happy to win it, as I'm sure Wrexham fans will be too. But it's far, far from a foregone conclusion. I'm going 2-1 blues, another last minute winner. Wouldn't be shocked to see a 1-1 or 2-2, or a Wrexham win by a goal.
Sold out though, the first full sell-out of the season as neither Reading nor Wigan sold their away allocations. Monday night football. Should be a brilliant atmosphere, hopefully the game lives up to it! Think it's fair to say Wrexham won't have experienced anything like it in a long time. Been to Wembley but that's 50/50 allocations. *IF* St. Andrews gets going, it's quite something.
I wouldn't read anything into this game. Wrexham could win 3-1 but it still won't stop Birmingham winning the league! (edit) if Birmingham win 3-1 i still wouldn't write Wrexham off from going up
@@dazo69 absolutely. Far too early in the season for any conclusions, but a nice early marker for either side
@@dazo69I agree with your point, I would say though that a fantastic result from Wrexham would make me more confident in their chances at promotion.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Birmingham 3-2 Wrexham
Birmingham, Wrexham and Stockport to get promoted
I agree with the 3 promotions
Birmingham 6 Wrexham 3
Stansfield, May and Lee score a hatrick and they have to cut the match ball into 3
Ben, you forgot to say that not only is it under the lights and on the tele - it is sold out as well! KRO
Thanks for mentioning Tom Wagner. To most of the media we have become "Tom Brady's Birmingham City " even though Tom Brady is a small part of Knighthead, who own the majority at Blues.
This game could easily go either way, and i expect both teams to be in with a shout at the end of season.
I think lots of goals, maybe 3-2 either way
Draw would be very good for Wrexham. Can't comprehend a Wrexham win, but if they do then they will become serious contenders for automatic promotion.
Without a doubt
After 6 games?
@@go-andu1 yes
You make great content
we are ready and prepared to watch with a beer and wine
Loving the neutral interest for this game. Alongside everything you said Ben, it's a full sell-out too with both sets of fans selling their allocations. Sure the Wrexham owners will be there, Brady should be but I know he has NFL FOX commitments which might prevent that. Would be ace if he was. This level of non-football stardom at an English third tier game is quite something!
As a Liverpool fan since the mid 90's, I tend to keep an eye on the lower leagues. Birmingham has spent an obscene amount to be the favorite. Wrexham has shown more restraint, smart signings, they are showing faith in their managers idea of team building. Wrexham will give Birmingham a real challenge. They built there team around a stronger defensive mid field. Defenders are solid and their goal keeper is extremely good. Wrexham will not need to make many changes in January. Strikers will be fine if they remain healthy. They really have 3 strikers with Lee as in the hybrid striker/midfielder. And Mullin needs about 2 or 3 more games to go back to top form. Prediction , Wrexham 3-2 for the win with 2 goals scored in the last 25 minutes
Birmingham Fan here. Yes we have spent some money but on 18 players. We have also sold and let go a lot of players. I think it's going to be a tight game open attacking but I can't predict a result. Birmingham are doing well at the moment but it will get better as time goes on as players will get used to playing together, it's a new squad.
KRO💙
I was just going to reply with the same answer really,we had to completely rebuild the squad after relegation. 23 players have gone out and 17 in. What we’ve tried to do is buy players who’re hopefully championship quality so hopefully if we do get promoted we won’t need another complete overhaul.
Clearly not kept enough of an eye on it to form a rounded opinion that isn't based on the ill informed Sky media narrative.
A very nice summary of Wrexham, you know your stuff 👍
🏴👍
Mullin is class
Birmingham needs a breakout game to stamp its authority on the League having sneaked a couple of results with last minute goals. Wrexham need to be treated with respect, but not too much and now the Birmingham players have learned each others names this could be the game where everything comes together. St Andrews will be full and bouncing giving Blues the 12th man cliche so a Blues victory by 2 or 3 goals could be on the cards...
That’s a new one ❤😂 2:08
Blues fan here I can’t wait for Monday night. This is not only a clash of American celebrities it’s also a clash of footballing philosophies.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who sees this lol
Maybe now that will silence the Wrexham Disney brigade. I predicted correctly. Comfortable 3-1 blues
Really looking forward to it! Hoping for a Wrexham win away
I reckon you'll do it !
What a clown 😂😂😂😂
2 good teams, I fancy Blues to edge it
It was just one good team the other one was a bunch of twats, useless rubbish
I’ll be there Monday, can’t wait, decent little vid this, hyped me up for it a bit more 😂
We love possession Wrexham hate possession they have very good first halves and tail off in the second and we struggle in first halves and play our best in the second. If it’s level at half time I fancy our chances
This will tell us a lot about Wrexham in my opinion. I think they are a solid club, but I think Birmingham City wins 3-1
Yes, what it told us is they don’t like losing and when they do, they bite your players how embarrassing doing that on TV?
its just another game for us. Big for Wrexham 3-1 Blues Wrexham have played 5 we have played 4 we have a game in hand its a bit early to start talking about top of the table lol
All the hype around the game and it will probably be 0-0
As wrexham season ticket holder I think you are off your head if you think we will be top 2 or even in the mix for it be happy to be in mix for the play off top half even
Blues fan, good video as always Benjamin,-l,ll be there on Monday night,-hoping for a great game,-and a Blues victory-KRO,
I think what’s interesting about this game is that it’s Birminghams entry into a tough block of games
Wrexham, Rotherham , Peterborough, Huddersfield and Charlton
Where will they be mid October?
Near the top or Mid Table
No pressure on them to perform on Monday Night
Will you do a watch along?
Possibly....just figuring our what Monday will look like!

In America you can catch every Wrexham game for obvious reasons, I wonder if they get the same buzz in the UK?
I wouldn't say so. Most of their games aren't on telly, but even if they were, I don't think you'd get that much neutral interest. If you're into football in the UK, you probably have a team, and it's probably not Wrexham. It's probably a team local to you, or one of the big 6 prem teams. There'll be the odd game like Monday's that attract special interest, but your average UK fan is not going to care about the majority of Wrexham's fixtures.
Generally in the UK we also hold a dim view of Americans. Especially multi-millionaires/billionaires and especially especially when they get involved in our sporting institutions. You can debate how legitimate that view is. Obviously Wrexham fans love their owners and quite rightly, and you could argue any dissension from rival fans is simply jealousy.
All in all, the buzz around Wrexham AFC in the UK is mostly contained to Wrexham, (and clickbait sports headlines) as it should be imho.
@@HipkissDesign I'm a Bournemouth Supporter, so most of my fellow American fans give me funny looks when I wear my shirts out in public.
@@HipkissDesign Sky Sports+ has their matches on tv this year. Loads of people have Wrexham as their second team (when not in the same division as their first team)
Did I see Mac from "It's always Sunny" sporting some of your merchandise?
birmingham had been skirting with relegation for a fair few seasons. It almost made last season inevitable! Quite how Eustace managed to get them near the top 6 is still hard to understand. Why he was sacked even more so. But little point in harping on about the past. This season it is all change!
I get a bit fed up with this as a Blues fan, its like our players are novices and Wrexham are superior in all depts really? do we think like this of England players who dont play together all the time, yet we all think they will come away with the trophy this match does not set anything for the future, as league 1 progresses through the season the teams will suss both teams out and adjust the style, so far to early to predict after such a few games.
lets be real the 7 year contract for stansfield is for "ffp" rules down the line, thats obvious but we spent so much because we wanted to invest in him, it's not about paying £15m+ for league 1 it's about championship and by the goals of the club also premier league in the future, it's a massive investment and I really hope it pays off

Hopefully it's an exciting game and Wrexham come out on top!
Blues are gonna hammer you ..... little tin pot nobodies
It is going to be a great game. Go Wrexham
This game has come a little too early for blues, as they have had so many departures and arrivals. Im going 1:2 Wrexham
What was it like to be incorrect?

Birmingham City 0 Wrexham fc 1
I think blues should win, but they haven't played in 2 weeks, so I think a 1-1 draw
Oh crap. They’ve had a two week rest? Did you see what happened to Caitlin Clark after the Olympics break she had? She turned into a powerhouse! They haven’t just been resting. They’ve been practicing. Oh man, this will be tough.
Going to be the best game of the season except for the rematch at the racecourse.
The way I see it, if we (Wrexham) win, it would be by one goal difference, a 1-2 or a 2-3, and we can show people how less spending, but smarter recruiting works.
If we tie or lose by one goal difference, which in my opinion, I predict a tie game, then we can beat them when we see them at our grounds.
But in the end, either win, lose, or tie, unless they beat us by 3 goal difference, which is really unlikely, we still going to be above them in the table and remain in a good position.
The only thing that I'll say against you is that it's not like we've just logged a load of money without thinking, we HAD to spend most of that money. We had let go around 18 players, not including the players we sold, so we needed a complete revamp of our squad, that's why we spent so much. The 12 mil or 20 mil for Jay Stansfield, however (idk anymore because everyone's saying different amounts🤣) we probably didn't have to use, but I think it was more of a ploy to top off what had been an excellent end of a window.
The difference in the transfer windows between Birmingham and Wrexham are best shown by what became of our season's last season. Wrexham was promoted into league 2 with a very strong league 1 squad, so would need to let go and buy a very minimal amount of players, however, us in Birmingham, whilst we still had a strong enough squad to push for mid table championship (never mind thinking about how much better the players we had compared to the league 1 players) our problem was one that hadn't happened overnight, but slowly happened during our 13 years of hell in the championship. And that was the fact that we have no fight, with our last owners, they were a rot in the club and just sold off players to pay off their debts, to the point where we HAD to sell of Jude Bellingham as he, very graciously, signed a new contract, rather than going for a free, because we were about to go under administration. Think about that, yeah, last season, our current owners made a HUGE mistake with signing Rooney, however, we all knew that, even without Rooney, the rot was still there. And the best way to treat the rot, is by getting rid of the causes straight away. The reason why we deserved to get relegated wasn't because the players weren't good enough for the league (on our day, we probably would've been good enough to be fighting for promotion) it was because their attitudes absolutely sucked. That's why we got relegated. And that's why the owners HAD to spend so much money
@@dancingdude4 ya, I was about to say, I think Rooney was your guys mistake, before him, u did pretty well. Never understood why you even brought him over when the current manager wasn't doing bad.

Birmingham have got to be on the front foot on Monday night. The expectation that Blues will romp home to the top of league 1 is what all Blues fans want, however Wrexham while also unbeaten and they also have no expectations that they will win on Saturday. Wrexham have no right to get 3 points so beware Birmingham you have to be 100% ready or if you are not Wrexham might just surprise us
