A relative new piece of industrial history now left to decay, I often wonder why the owners of these and similar plants are not required to clean up the area once closed ? As always guys, an interesting and well filmed article.
Well... You can demolish the buildings but you can't get rid of the abnormal Prion proteins in the soil and in the water. The machinery and other stuff could possibly harbor these agents on the surface still too.
I used to live in Chartham from 2004-2009. You could smell it when the wind was in the South and once you knew that smell you knew which lorries full of carcases driving down Wincheap were going there. It was like nothing else, it was grim
As usual a very well put together peice chaps, facisnating place that looks like they just walked out and left everything as it was! My parents very rarely argued about anything, but I remember my dad and mum had a massive argument that I heard from the top of the stairs about my mum treating me and my sister in the late 80s to McDonald's over concerns of us eating an affected burger and us getting ill and brain damaged!

These plants were probably a terrible place to work. How would you ever get that smell out of your nose. Excellent explore. Thank you.
Indeed!
Years ago I was a labourer for a builder and we did some work there. I can tell you it was horrendous

My friend drove tipper lorries that dropped the carcasses there. He has a pretty grey look on his face when he talks about it.
I remember going down the M5 near Bristol and the smell from the burning cattle carcasses was overwhelming just hidden behind large bales of hay
Interesting cheers for sharing!
I expect that was for Foot and Mouth as opposed to BSE?
What a sad place to think all those animals being slaughtered due to man's incompetence.
