Lagani Rabukawaqa an ex student of QVS, blasted the radio waves of Fiji in the early eighties with his brilliant voice, & talent to make a tune sound so hauntingly beautiful, yet catchy. Still my favourite song & singer. Hope you all enjoy!

Wow finally found these Lagani Rabukawaqa..famous name in the 80s all over the Pacific I believe. Yes in PNG 🇵🇬no difference. I grew up listening to his songs on radio station. Even saving my lunch money just to buy his cassette. Best days. He made and put Fijian music on the map.
I was a year older than him when he come to the Solomon Islands with his mother and the Band. I believe he is 13 or 14 that time in the early 80s. I have to spend my last $ just to spend that afternoon listening to this very talented young man. His songs were the hit songs in Honiara during those days...Great Young Man then.

@@elikiniiongi371 retired and living in Hawaii. The composer of most of his songs Master Iliesa Baravilala is possibly also still with us but very old now
Lovely songs, beautiful voice I first came to enjoy as a young man living in Honiara in the 1980's when Lagani's music was very popular and played day and night on the SIBC radio. The recordings have great guitar and voice sound but rather spoiled by the reverberating "magic organ" which was novel then but sounds horrible now in retrospect. Bula from Cairns Qld.
The band backing Lagani was known to us as the Spinning Wheels and I have always thought that they would have a spining wheel with them..hahahaha! isa those days
I remember this song as a wee boy growing up in Lautoka....whenever it came on I would run to my mum & give her the biggest hugs

I totally agree, he's so unique singer, came to Tonga I was a year 11 student. Loving his voice and beautiful feature .

@Shelbourner -Pheww!!..Thank you so much for that:)..i was so stuck with that line for a long while!:) I took all of my mum's cassettes and converted them into MP3!..grew up listening to this in Vatukoula! Love it, will post more soon. I have a whole cassette to go thru, well worth the while.

@miizem You are most welcome. Exactly! Not only has he had amazing vocals I'm also impressed at how the lyrics were carefully chosen and arranged to produce significance and intelligible songs. Brilliant! Is he still singing? Few years’ back my searched online for his songs was unsuccessful thanks to you for uploading these two. I hope I can still find his songs in music shops in Fiji.

@Rasta2DaDome - Timoci Gucake, now that's a name I haven't heard in a long while. You're are so true in "Golden Voices", the classic make of a long line of beautiful and spiritual vocals.
