- I spent the day exploring Banqiao in New Taipei, a city I'd never really traveled to before. I was quite surprised to find a city full of rich history, traditional shopping streets and markets, as well as interesting up and coming boutique shops, and of course, amazing food. Hope you enjoy the video!

板橋林家花園位於新北市板橋區西門街，原名林本源園邸，創建於西元1847年，
與台中霧峰林家花園，及台南佳里的林家花園並不同，可以在林家前加上地名。
園邸內興建的房舍是仿造蘇州留園的設計，為目前臺灣僅存最完整的園林建築，
園邸分為園(庭園景觀)和邸(林家住所)兩部分，1982年住屋之外的花園開放參觀，
居住處，即西側的三落大厝，仍屬於「祭祀公業林本源」，需專人帶領才能入內。👍😃🙏

I was borned in Banqiao but moved to other county with the whole family at the age of 10. 25 years later I bought an apartment in Banqiao and moved back to this city. When I was a kid, most of the landscape in Banqiao, especially the area between my home and my elementary school, is rice paddy which is hard to imagine. Banqiao is the most popuplated district in Taiwan over the course of couple decades. For those people living in Banqiao, they tend to tell other people, living the rest of the country outside Banqiao, they are from Banqiao instead of from New Taipei City.
I say it too even though i'm a foreigner who moved to another district, lol. banqiao is my fave.
Excellent introduction to Banqiao. Looks like an interesting city to visit. Great filming as usual. I was surprised at how many shop owners spoke English!!
The general English level is getting better every year it seems

I visited in Lin Garden a few years ago and I remembered that if you are a New Taipei City resident ( not only Banqiao resident),then you are free to get into the Garden

Wes，Terry Kuo (郭台銘), when he was growing up, the family was poor with his policeman Dad being the only income source. For a lengthy period of time, his family lived in the back of the temple. That contributed to a significant part of that temple’s notoriety. Another excellent episode, Wes! Kudos to you! 👍

慈惠宮我們板橋人都叫它媽祖廟，媽祖廟側邊那條路走下去，有一家長興餅店，每年中秋節前都要去排長隊買他們的白豆沙餅，超級好吃。
媽祖廟正門那條路走下去，是觀音廟，也是香火鼎盛的廟。每年過農曆年，我跟我爸媽都會去這兩間廟拜拜。

大家都知道每年各地方政府都會挖馬路
但是這次市政府的整修工程令人眼睛一亮
寬敞的人行道,比美日本的施工品質,從府中捷運站經過北門街一路到林家花園
真的把行人空間還給了行人
補充推薦你黃石市場的生炒魷魚跟隔壁蘿蔔糕,文昌街臭豆腐
下次可以來試試

Sparkling new pavement... a true rarity in Taiwan. Especially when it's below your feet and not below a bunch of parked scooters.
I used to live in Banqiao (Panchiao) from 1997-2000. It has changed so much since then. I would guess that it has changed more than almost any other city in Taiwan. Great memories there. Back in Ottawa now... Can't wait to return to Taiwan again. I actually never made it to Lin Garden (although had planned to go for a while).

I visited the Lin Family Garden several years ago when I went back to Taiwan from the U.S. It is so beautiful and I am totally impressed!

lol, I used to work in Banciao. It became a standing joke that whatever place we talked about was not as good as Banciao. It has some nice new areas, but in all honesty it's not that great an area. I am amazed to see you raving about it.

I love this area and have visited it many times in recent years before the pandemic. Go at Christmas time to enjoy the lights and outdoor entertainment. In fact, this Canadian would love to do a joint tour with you the next time I can visit Taiwan.
