@@SimplyAJ Question, After August 29th, Can you apply Eshop Cards to your Nintendo Switch account & transfer the funds to your Wii U account to purchase games until March 2023?
I’d highly recommend picking up the WarioLand Games. Shake It and Warioland 4 on the Wii U, and Warioland 1-3 on the 3DS (since that is closing down too)
I would say a big one you missed is the Metroid Prime Trilogy digital version. That's 3 amazing and unique games for only like 20 bucks, while the physical release is super hard to get. The wii controls are also widely seen as the definitive control style, over the gamecube versions.
Oh for sure! I actually did mention it in the end in my "honorable mentions" part, but you're 100% right that it's worth grabbing. Truth be told, I made this video in a bit of rush because I mainly just wanted to spread awareness that this shut down was coming and going to hit people hard. That's a big part of why I want everyone to share whatever games they think I missed in the comments so everyone else can see them too. Going to be making a 3DS one soon, so, I'll try my best to get as many titles as I can listed (within reason of course haha).

*Some WiiU/eshop exclusives/notables* (not necessarily all of a great quality): *Affordable Space Adventures* - kinda pricey but tons of people seem to hold it in high regard, 2D spaceship game. Has puzzles *Art Academy* Expensive and requires fiddling with parental controls/Miiverse settings to work, but kinda cool. *Blek* - technically on iOS, but that's not exactly a reliable platform for games long term *Chasing Aurora* - odd asymmetrical multiplayer game *Devil's Third* - has a very bad reputation, but is pretty rare *Dr. Luigi* - it's Dr. Mario but Luigi and pretty expensive *FAST Neo* - The Switch RMX basically is a more complete version, but I believe there are some subtle differences. *Kirby and the Rainbow Curse* - If you can find a physical it might be cheaper. *Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars (Nintendo)* - Just a game you'll likely never see on another console *Nano Assault Neo* - made by the same people who made FAST Neo *NES Remix 1 and 2* - Physical has both *Pokemon Rumble U* *Pushmo World* *Rush* - simple puzzle game *Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails* - twinstick/platformer, pretty unique at least *Severed* - technically on Switch but plays better on WiiU, idk if I'd really reccomend it tbh *Shuttle Rush* - platformer, seems decent *Sonic Lost World's DLC* - some Zelda themed levels, apparently some of the best levels I'm told. I've also heard the Steam version doesn't run great. *Spin the bottle: Bumpie's Party* - weird, kinda uncomfortablely touchy party game. If you enjoy Twister and the like you might like this. *Star Fox Zero* - way cheaper as a physical last I checked though *Star Fox Guard* (rare physical release) *Tank!Tank!Tank!* - this might be a physical only one, possibly was delisted *LoZ Twilight Princess HD* - pricey but physical is even pricier. Will likely return on a Nintendo Console one day, however it may be held hostage by a subscription or have a limited release window. Hedge you bets either way you choose. *LoZ Wind Waker HD* - I can still find the physical at relatively reasonable prices but eshop isn't unreasonable decent deal *Wii U Sports Club (DLC)* - Not the "pass" but DLC in the shop which will also call it a pass. Pricey though. *A couple of games that are ☠️delisted☠️ AFAIK:* - I only note these as they don't seem to be on any other platform and I've heard they're fun. (No guarantees). *Kick & Fennick* - run and gun/platformer pretty unique game *Armored Acorns* - sidescrolling beat 'em up? *Wind-Up Knight 2* - platformer
*Virtual Console notables:* If you're not into subscriptions and would rather own the games then you've got a lot to sift through. NES & SNES minis may be an option for you. *NES Games* *Duck Hunt* - Has re-enabled pointer controls with Wiimotes, nice for those without CRT monitors, lightguns, or original hardware *EarthBound Beginnings* - new translation of a JP only game *Pac-Land* - JP region exclusive previously *Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels* - JP region exclusive previously *Ufouria: The Saga* - JP region exclusive previously *Vs. Excitebike* - JP region exclusive previously *Wild Gunman* - Has re-enabled pointer controls with Wiimotes, nice for those without CRT monitors, lightguns, or original hardware *N64 Games* *Sin and Punishment* - JP region exclusive previously *GBA Games* *Kuru Kuru Kururin* - JP region exclusive previously *Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3* - has the e-reader levels *NDS Games* *Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon* - includes the DLC (yes, it had DLC and online features no longer available on physical versions) *Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky* - pretty expensive to try to get a cart *TG-16 Games* - a few are also on PS3 but cost an additional $2 *Battle Lode Runner* - JP region exclusive previously *Bomberman '94* - JP region exclusive previously, also on PS3 *Bomberman: Panic Bomber* - JP region exclusive previously *Break In* - JP region exclusive previously *Final Soldier* - JP region exclusive previously *Gradius* - Also on NES, this is considered the best version of the Sh'mup, also JP region exclusive previously *Lords of Thunder* - Originally for the TG-16 CD add-on *Necromancer* - JP region exclusive previously *Salamander* - JP region exclusive previously *Wii Games* *Kirby's Return to Dream Land* - physical is expensive *Lost in Shadow* - physical is expensive and very rare *Metroid Prime: Trilogy* - physical is expensive and very rare *Pikmin 2* - super pricey for a physical *Pandora's Tower* - super pricey for a physical *Punch-Out* - physical is expensive *Rhythm Heaven Fever* - super pricey for a physical There's definitely more to note but I forgot a couple details and need to do more research on a few.
I'd also add the two Klonoa GBA games Empire of Dreams and Dream Champ Tournament. Both of them are ridiculously expensive if you try to get physical copies of each.
just yesterday i realized how much of a gold mine the wii u is for games ive always wanted to play, planning on getting metroid zero mission, fusion, the prime trilogy, as well as wind waker, twilight princess, maybe skyward sword, idk if the switch version is a big enough upgrade to pay for it for 40 more dollars. i'll probably also get mario galaxy 2 and super paper mario. theres probably so many other games on there i just havent found yet as well
All great games worth getting! Honestly, I'd say the Switch version of Skyward Sword is worth picking up for the quality of life changes, but honestly motion controls with a tiny Joy-Con CAN be a bit rough, so I don't think you'd be making the wrong choice to get it on the Wii U while ya can.
Golden Sun changed my life. The physical copies got really expensive for full boxes and even though I own the carts, I am still tempted by the boxed copies just because I love it so much.

I'm in the UK and recently learnt about the impending shutdown. I have just picked up: Earthbound Beginnings Earthbound Golden Sun Golden Sun The Lost Age Super Mario RPG Paper Mario Sin and Punishment These are all hard to find/expensive for physical copies, or are digital only and will be lost forever. Don't know if they are all available or similarly priced in other parts of the world; it just cost me almost £50 to buy all these, but I felt it was necessary. I think I'd rather be blissfully unaware of anything else I'll miss out on as I can't afford anything else! But hopefully this will be helpful in some way to somebody! Great video. Subscribed. (EDIT: Golden Sun games aren't hard to find or expensive, I just wanted to play them on a TV screen rather than a handheld!)
All great games! Yeah, due to just how MANY there are, that's a big part of why I just buy them here and there. Spending like $60 in one go for a bunch of games all at once is harder for me to stomach than just say like.. buying a couple every few weeks or something haha. Glad you liked the video!
I’m glad I picked up most of these games some 15-20 years ago when they still could be found used at bookstores and pawnshops. I’m missing several Nintendo titles because I focused mostly on ps2, ps1 , Saturn, and Dreamcast . So far I’ve spend $300 bucks on eshop mostly on 3ds titles and realize that’s nothing compare to what others are spending right now. Nintendo is making a killing. I have a feeling the most popular games( money makers ) will be available on switch eshop in the future.
Your editing and thumbnails are excellent, I'm surprised you don't have thousands more subscribers. Perhaps the problem is lack of consistency. Good video by the way, a shame the eShops are going down.
Aha, I appreciate the compliment! Yeah, honestly who knows. I work a full time job on 3rd shift, so while I have a lot of scripts, it definitely can be hard to find the time to set up everything to record, capture game footage, edit, etc etc. I still love doing it, though, so my goal is at the very least, one a month. Hopefully one day I'll be able to do more without burning myself out though haha. Either way, though, subs come in due time, I just enjoy making the videos.
@Poke NFTs Well I appreciate it nonetheless haha. Hopefully, in due time! But honestly, I just have fun making these, and I'm entertained by my own dumb jokes, so knowing that other people have found enjoyment, even if it's not thousands, is still pretty cool!
great video i myself not own a wii u and not planning to but i get what you guys feel about it, last year sony try to shut down the ps3 & vita stores and i try to get as much digital games asap. thankfully they didn't shut it down but i can't buy directly games from my vita and ps3 now because sony make this option unavailable, only by adding balance via my ps5 or buying a playstation store gift card (thats rare in my country to find one because nobody buy them). also one game i recommend to get on the wii u eShop is tekken tag tournament 2, i myself rather play it on the ps3 with dualshock 3 controller because tekken was the playstation main fighting franchise until dark resurrection on the psp/ps3 but the wii u is the definitive version of tag 2 with all the characters on the disc without needs for dlc and updates, nintendo content and exclusive tekken ball mode.
For real though, like, I don't know many people who OWNED a Wii U, but I was absolutely hyped for the thing when it came out, and still enjoy it to this day. Definitely a lot of cool ideas that didn't quite get off the ground, though.
First of all that hair is on point. Secondly great video I am actually working on a video of the same topic. Dont forget physical wii wiiu games that are either really expensive or built for the gamepad as we will probably never see those again either (devils third, Nintendo Land starfox guard)
Ahaha, glad you appreciate it! And yeah, I'd love to do a deeper coverage on some of the more rare Wii U games at some point, especially being a physical collector. Sadly, my Wii U collection is pretty paltry compared to like, my PS4 collection.
@@SimplyAJ I'd collect more for my Wii U but I don't necessarily want to end up with tons of shovel ware that I will never play and just occupy space on my shelf.
The fact that Nintendo seems to have forgotten they published the best RPG on the Game Boy Advance and I'd dare say one of the best of all time is so saddening. Golden Sun deserves to be experienced by a whole new generation of gamers, but it really doesn't look like they are ever going to bring the franchise as a collection to the Switch u.u
Oh for real. I've always been pro-physical whenever I can be. Hell, I just imported Eastbound from Japan, purely cause the US hasn't received a physical copy of it yet (and it's playable in English so...) But yeah 100% agree.
I wanted to take every Wii U game that will never get ported, so I bought Affordable Space Adventure (really fun and one of the best use of the gamepad in any Wii U game), Starfox Guard, Duck Hunt (has Wii mote controls instead of having to use the NES zapper), Chasing Aurora (nice little asymmetrical party game), Pushmo World and NES Remix (these 2 could technically be rereleased but idk I feel that Nintendo will more likely end up porting just the 3DS entries) I’m thinking about taking NES Remix 2 but if anyone know another cool game that I missed plz tell me :) It was hard searching for them because literally every “Wii U e-shop exclusive list” is filled with games that are not exclusives anymore
Wanna save money? Ok then you need: - Devil's Third (Physical is like 400$) - Fatal Frame (US digital only) - Metroid Prime Trilogy (physical is like 200 bucks) - Mario vs Donkey Kong is also digital only - Xenoblade (available on wii and switch, but just saying) - Pandora's tower (good luck getting that for under 100$ physical)
Oh wow, did NOT realize Devil's Third was going for that much, whew. Never heard of Pandora's Tower, but just watched some gameplay footage, and now I kind of want to try it. Granted, I'm also a sucker for physical copies so.... Wonder how hard it'll be to track down haha.
@@SimplyAJ even here in Canada those two consoles are the ones that show up the most at my local Value Village. I'm fairly certain a lot of them have the red ring of death though so some poor gamer may be in for a nasty surprise.
So, to further elaborate, it's cause the information used in THIS particular video was when Japan made an announcement saying they were removing the credit card usage etc. At the time, call it tin-foil hat or whatever, but based off of Nintendo's history with past shut downs, I kind of knew it was inevitably going to happen for us too, and low and behold it did.
Note that if you have your shop account connected to your Nintendo ID, you can still add funds on the website with a credit/debit card or PayPal. All is not yet lost
Hey there! So, it's certainly a possibility. This video is essentially just a warning. Nintendo is unfortunately very unpredictable. It's entirely possible they could allow purchases, but at the same time, this is the same company that DID close down the Wii Virtual Console shop entirely, and since they are trying to push people towards using the Switch's Nintendo Online subscription service, it's all the more reason for them to axe the Wii U eShop.
I'm pretty sure card capabilities is only going away in Japan later in January, they haven't announced anything here yet. Probably important to mention that.
I'm not sure if you made an updated video to this, after Nintendo extended the time period for closures (and added the 3DS eshop), but the two Wii Zelda games with HD versions are beginning to grow in price, fast, especially Twilight Princess HD. While they're cheaper on e-shop. Though I wish Nintendo would do an eshop super sale for the heck of it....I'd love to get Twilight Princess HD for 20.
So, I did do an updated video of sorts, but it covers like over 45 games on the 3DS eShop. I had made this one a couple months before their tweet. I thought about doing another one covering more Wii U games, but I also didn't want my videos to devolve entirely into eShop. But yeah the 3DS one does cover a ton of games if ya haven't already seen it! I'd love if Nintendo did some sort of final closure deal, but I also won't hold my breath that they'll do so, because well... It's Nintendo haha.
Here are my choices for the Wii U eShop Paper Mario - $9.99 since a physical copy is over $100 nowadays. Sin & Punishment - never released in a physical form in the USA. Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission
Thank you for this video! I’m hoping to be able to pick up around $100-200 worth of games before they go for good! Pay day can’t come fast enough lol 😂!
Well luckily you got a bit more time since the loss of use of Credit Cards has been pushed to May of 2022 now! Granted unfortunately a FULL shut down is happening in March of 2023, so, hopefully you were able to get some good games!
You do realise that the option of not being able to add funds directly in the e-Shop via credit card have been a thing since 2019 in europe? It is just a matter of adding money on the Nintendo Account online instead. This is also true when it comes to PSN on the PS3. How this has turned into some kind of fact that the e-Shop is shutting down on the Wii U is beyond me. It is not. Not yet. Unless Nintendo has said otherwise.
@@blizzard1408 Well, it was true at the time. It was not a fact. Now it is. I hate it, the fact that the online way of handling things today makes (legal) accessability to older games way more short lived. We have the technology to make things happen, but we do not make things happen. We make things unhappen.
Actually been workin' on the 3DS version of this as well, so, hopefully will have that out soon! And yeah Earthbound being on NSO is great, let's just hope they don't shut it down any time soon as well haha.
@@SimplyAJ Problem is that Nintendo Switch Online only means you can’t own the game which sucks because it can be taken down at any time! For me at least even though I grew up with the 3ds vs getting the Wii U during the quarantine I still feel like the loss of the Wii U is more heavy how about you?
@@EliezYT That's a tough one, honestly. So, first, just to touch on Earthbound, it actually IS on the 3DS, which I just recently found out, however SNES games on the 3DS are NEW 3DS only, and since a vast majority of 3DS owners probably don't have a NEW 3DS, they're kind of boned in that regard. I do agree though, NSO and not actually OWNING the games is pretty awful all things considered. We're essentially just renting games until they inevitably shut down that too. As for Wii U vs 3DS.... That's a tough one. I'm writing the script for my 3DS sequel video now and it's absolutely daunting. Like, there are over 600 digital only titles on there, so it's a bit overwhelming to try to water it all down to just "here are some good ones" when there are SO MANY good ones. The 3DS has the benefit of having been out for a while longer than the Wii U, so its library of games is larger (plus it just... did better, critically and financially). That being said, PERSONALLY? The Wii U loss is hitting pretty hard. I love this damn thing, and knowing that it WAS so underplayed by a vast majority of people is a shame, because I feel like more people over all will miss out on Wii U titles than 3DS titles, purely because they never invested in the Wii U to begin with. Also congrats on getting me to write the largest reply to anyone, yet haha.
So the Wii U was pretty sparse when it came to JRPGs unfortunately. You could look into Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but that's on Switch now too. There's also Xenoblade Chronicles X, which... Some people really enjoyed and others hated. Personally, I wasn't a BIG fan of it? It's pretty slow to start, but it might be up your ally, and the mech side of things is kind of cool, but it's unfortunately nothing like Xenoblade Chronicles before it. Also there's The Last Story on Wii that you could grab.
On the Virtual Console: NES: Earthbound Beginnings, Little Ninja Brothers. SNES: Breath of Fire 1&2, Earthbound. N64: Ogre Battle 64, Paper Mario. GBA: Fire Emblem, Golden Sun and Mega Man Battle Network games, Onimusha Tactics. Turbografx: Double Dungeons?, Neutopia 1 & 2. List above is not comprehensive.
Can't you just use prepaid eshop cards instead? Just use a credit card to get an eshop card and boom same thing extra steps. You can get one on amazon instantly.
It's entirely possible, yeah. The main concern is that, this is the first step towards the shop closing, just like the Wii Virtual Console before hand. On top of which the normal "every day" consumer won't realize that there are indeed work arounds for the time being.
@@StrikerSML Not really. Kids? Do they have such memory? Even average adult will not realized what they can't remember. Most adult gamers only know of putting money on Switch, PS4 or 5, and etc.
i'm pretty sure that the store will last longer as it is connected with 3DS games. 3DS was discontinued in 2021 in Japan so there is no point to turn off the shop for newcomers. Actually connection with 3DS was always a positive thing for WII U itself. The cut of cards payment is not a deal. In Europe we have this for 2 years and it works perfectly - just add funds on Switch.
Nintendo just confirmed that both stores, Wii U & 3DS are closing in March 2023. So, while I was wrong about the date, they stores themselves ARE closing, whether you have funds or not.
Oh sure, show me this video AFTER 2021, even though I been seeking for a video like this these past few days, thanks TH-cam. Got a WiiU just a few weeks before 2022 and was Gunning for all Metroid games since I never knew they were almost all there. (Also playing GBA Metroid games on the TV would be a huge plus) Hope to get all the digital versions soon before the shop is really gone.
Aha, WELL the good news is, I legit just went and snagged the rest of the Mega Man Battle Network games yesterday, so there's definitely still time. Obviously the idea behind the video was to let people know so they could space out purchases over the course of the months, but there still isn't a date set in stone, just Nintendo being Nintendo. So, hopefully you can grab what you want!
The problem is that even if we get all those games before the Eshop closes, the hardware of the WiiU itself could just die in a few years… I hope it’s built to last at least for a while.
Yeah, such is the case for all this stuff, unfortunately. Eventually, even our discs and cartridges will cease functioning as well. Only so much you can do, but definitely need to make sure you power cycle your electronics every now.
Ahaha, yeah. I made the correction in my video covering the 3DS eShop, but still a bummer regardless. Granted, I'm glad we got more time than initially thought, at least!
@@SimplyAJ its not really a mistake, at the time you made this video, there wasn’t a date on when it was going to close, just when the card transactions would be killed off(prob for security), that happened ages ago in europe tho. you just have to buy stuff with the eshop vouchers until march.
I own 2 wii u's and 3 3ds.... not as dedicated as Scott but more than most. But the NNID sucks it's not like I can load all the consoles up as mirror images just in case some of them fail in the future. Stupid
Yeah, honestly the NNID system needs improvement. Like, there was very little consideration taken to the fact that Nintendo clearly ENCOURAGES people to buy multiple iterations of the same system, by releasing slightly updated versions or Limited Edition versions, but at the same time no feasible way to really link them all.
Well thankfully the wii you eshop hasn't ended just yet and it's been some since you made thus video so maybe you can make an update video with a 3ds addition...would greatly be appreciated sir with 6 months still remaining as of this comment 👌🏾 will subscribe cause this video was useful and amusing lol
I appreciate the sub! Annnnnnnd actually, as I write this comment I am currently editing the 3DS eShop follow up video as well! I had planned on making one regardless, but with Nintendo's announcement, I basically jumped into it immediately so it can hopefully be useful in the limited time we have left! That being said, as of writing this comment, I'm aiming to have it done in... Like just a couple more days? If that? So, yeah, keep a look out!
Demon's Crest is also a Good Game to get cause if you try to get a Physical SNES cart. Hope you're prepared to spend $2000 dollars on it. But The Wii U was the first time it got a Rerelease, and while it is on the Switch Online SNES Library, this is the last time you'll be able to download this SNES Hidden Gem.
So, there hasn't been any sort of announcement on it yet, but with the way Limited Run Games has been snagging up the publishing rights to these Castlevania Collections, mark my words, I'd put money on the fact that by the end of this year, they'll announce a physical copy of it haha.
The day Nintendo officially closes the eShop on both the Wii U and N3DS is going to suck, big time. But at the same time, I'm glad I thought ahead and made this years prior: th-cam.com/play/PLZrviRQSpZmexf9lURcWy2XYOg_I6cTjj.html
I am still salty about how Golden Sun was treated in the European eShop. We got the original no strings attached. Then the second one came out later and it was english-only for some reason. It's not like they had no other translations. Nintendo just decided against rereleasing the European ROM for whatever reason. Why is everyone's guess.
Car Battler Joe Fire Emblem (2003) Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Klonoa: Empire of Dreams Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time Dr. Luigi(?) Breath of Fire Breath of Fire 2
Ooh for sure. Especially with the Klonoa remakes coming out, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would want to play these as well. Dr Luigi is one I definitely forgot about too, as did Nintendo, apparently haha.
I bought over 150 eShop games on Wii U and 75-80 physical retail games. I think i'm fine. :) I like Wii U more than Switch for several reasons. Switch system features itself feels like a big downgrade. Nintendo should just have ported Wii U system to Switch with some tweaks and modifications.
Holy shit ahaha. Yeah, I'd say you're set. Truth be told, Wii U is probably the console I own the LEAST physical games for. I'd love to fix that, though.
How dare you say "nobody really asked for this" when talking about Mother 1's first ever official English release. SO MANY people in the EB community were elated at this news. :/
Ahaha, I mean, it's said as a joke (also why it's on this list, because I like it), since at the time, many people were (and still are of course) waiting for an official release of Mother 3.
As far as I'm concerned, your eShop 'purchases' will only last as long as your current Nintendo Network ID and you treat your devices with extreme respect.
Of for sure. Like, for all intents and purposes, if you have a way of getting physical copies of these games, by all means do that. I'll always vastly prefer physical over digital, but for some people that just isn't the case. That, and some of these eShop games have been "optimized," like I mentioned with the Mario 3 one giving all the eReader content, or even the Mega Man Battle Network games allowing you to get all the chips etc etc. But yeah, I mean, eventually, our consoles will die, and nintendo's servers will shut down, and who knows maybe one day they'll disable everyone's accounts, but at the same time, even with physical games, those too will die as well. Nothing is forever, unfortunately haha.
It's worth figuring out how to hack your system and put backups on a hard drive. People are getting better at repairing and restoring older systems as time goes on as well, so no need to believe in a bleak future. Emulation remains a last resort as well should your system fail, provided you take time to make some backups.
Depends what you’re into. With Zelda the best ones to get are Link’s Awakening and Minish Cap. 3D Classics Kirby’s Adventure is a fun game and is the best looking NES game you’ll ever play. Metroid Zero Mission is super fun and probably won’t have an official way to play after the closure for a long time. If you like Pokémon then Crystal is an extremely fun experience with some great retro graphics. Those are all the ones I’ve played

Nah more like downloads from hshop and moving a micro sd from my 2ds xl to my laptop and back 💀
I would say a big one you missed is the Metroid Prime Trilogy digital version. That's 3 amazing and unique games for only like 20 bucks, while the physical release is super hard to get. The wii controls are also widely seen as the definitive control style, over the gamecube versions.
(Of you still have money in your account, that is :/ )
Oh for sure!

I'll also note a few in the replies.
*Some WiiU/eshop exclusives/notables* (not necessarily all of a great quality):
*Affordable Space Adventures* - kinda pricey but tons of people seem to hold it in high regard, 2D spaceship game. Has puzzles
*Art Academy* Expensive and requires fiddling with parental controls/Miiverse settings to work, but kinda cool.
*Blek* - technically on iOS, but that's not exactly a reliable platform for games long term
*Chasing Aurora* - odd asymmetrical multiplayer game
*Devil's Third* - has a very bad reputation, but is pretty rare
*Dr. Luigi* - it's Dr. Mario but Luigi and pretty expensive
*FAST Neo* - The Switch RMX basically is a more complete version, but I believe there are some subtle differences.
*Kirby and the Rainbow Curse* - If you can find a physical it might be cheaper.
*Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars (Nintendo)* - Just a game you'll likely never see on another console
*Nano Assault Neo* - made by the same people who made FAST Neo
*NES Remix 1 and 2* - Physical has both
*Pokemon Rumble U*
*Pushmo World*
*Rush* - simple puzzle game
*Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails* - twinstick/platformer, pretty unique at least
*Severed* - technically on Switch but plays better on WiiU, idk if I'd really reccomend it tbh
*Shuttle Rush* - platformer, seems decent
*Sonic Lost World's DLC* - some Zelda themed levels, apparently some of the best levels I'm told. I've also heard the Steam version doesn't run great.
*Spin the bottle: Bumpie's Party* - weird, kinda uncomfortablely touchy party game. If you enjoy Twister and the like you might like this.
*Star Fox Zero* - way cheaper as a physical last I checked though
*Star Fox Guard* (rare physical release)
*Tank!Tank!Tank!* - this might be a physical only one, possibly was delisted
*LoZ Twilight Princess HD* - pricey but physical is even pricier. Will likely return on a Nintendo Console one day, however it may be held hostage by a subscription or have a limited release window. Hedge you bets either way you choose.
*LoZ Wind Waker HD* - I can still find the physical at relatively reasonable prices but eshop isn't unreasonable decent deal
*Wii U Sports Club (DLC)* - Not the "pass" but DLC in the shop which will also call it a pass. Pricey though.
*A couple of games that are ☠️delisted☠️ AFAIK:* - I only note these as they don't seem to be on any other platform and I've heard they're fun. (No guarantees).
*Kick & Fennick* - run and gun/platformer pretty unique game
*Armored Acorns* - sidescrolling beat 'em up?
*Wind-Up Knight 2* - platformer
*Virtual Console notables:* If you're not into subscriptions and would rather own the games then you've got a lot to sift through. NES & SNES minis may be an option for you.
*NES Games*
*Duck Hunt* - Has re-enabled pointer controls with Wiimotes, nice for those without CRT monitors, lightguns, or original hardware
*EarthBound Beginnings* - new translation of a JP only game
*Pac-Land* - JP region exclusive previously
*Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels* - JP region exclusive previously
*Ufouria: The Saga* - JP region exclusive previously
*Vs. Excitebike* - JP region exclusive previously
*Wild Gunman* - Has re-enabled pointer controls with Wiimotes, nice for those without CRT monitors, lightguns, or original hardware
*N64 Games*
*Sin and Punishment* - JP region exclusive previously
*GBA Games*
*Kuru Kuru Kururin* - JP region exclusive previously
*Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3* - has the e-reader levels
*NDS Games*
*Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon* - includes the DLC (yes, it had DLC and online features no longer available on physical versions)
*Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky* - pretty expensive to try to get a cart
*TG-16 Games* - a few are also on PS3 but cost an additional $2
*Battle Lode Runner* - JP region exclusive previously
*Bomberman '94* - JP region exclusive previously, also on PS3
*Bomberman: Panic Bomber* - JP region exclusive previously
*Break In* - JP region exclusive previously
*Final Soldier* - JP region exclusive previously
*Gradius* - Also on NES, this is considered the best version of the Sh'mup, also JP region exclusive previously
*Lords of Thunder* - Originally for the TG-16 CD add-on
*Necromancer* - JP region exclusive previously
*Salamander* - JP region exclusive previously
*Wii Games*
*Kirby's Return to Dream Land* - physical is expensive
*Lost in Shadow* - physical is expensive and very rare
*Metroid Prime: Trilogy* - physical is expensive and very rare
*Pikmin 2* - super pricey for a physical
*Pandora's Tower* - super pricey for a physical
*Punch-Out* - physical is expensive
*Rhythm Heaven Fever* - super pricey for a physical
There's definitely more to note but I forgot a couple details and need to do more research on a few.

just yesterday i realized how much of a gold mine the wii u is for games ive always wanted to play, planning on getting metroid zero mission, fusion, the prime trilogy, as well as wind waker, twilight princess, maybe skyward sword, idk if the switch version is a big enough upgrade to pay for it for 40 more dollars. i'll probably also get mario galaxy 2 and super paper mario. theres probably so many other games on there i just havent found yet as well
All great games worth getting! Honestly, I'd say the Switch version of Skyward Sword is worth picking up for the quality of life changes, but honestly motion controls with a tiny Joy-Con CAN be a bit rough, so I don't think you'd be making the wrong choice to get it on the Wii U while ya can.
Devils third and pandoras tower
Wii U had loads of great games where many will never be ported to Switch.
Golden Sun changed my life. The physical copies got really expensive for full boxes and even though I own the carts, I am still tempted by the boxed copies just because I love it so much.

Golden Sun
Golden Sun The Lost Age
Super Mario RPG
Paper Mario
Sin and Punishment
These are all hard to find/expensive for physical copies, or are digital only and will be lost forever.
Don't know if they are all available or similarly priced in other parts of the world; it just cost me almost £50 to buy all these, but I felt it was necessary.
I just dumped well over $124 CAD buying Atlus RPGs on my 3DS as there was a sale recently and I can relate.

@Poke NFTs Well I appreciate it nonetheless haha. Hopefully, in due time! But honestly, I just have fun making these, and I'm entertained by my own dumb jokes, so knowing that other people have found enjoyment, even if it's not thousands, is still pretty cool!

Dude I would absolutely LOVE a Battle Network Collection.
I’m one of the lucky ones who got Game & Wario physically for $20 at a pawn store about 3-4 years ago.
Yeah, if I see it for a decent price, I'd definitely snag it up, cause that's a hella good find now a days.
Does the warriors game use Wii mote. I hate that thing
great video
i myself not own a wii u and not planning to but i get what you guys feel about it, last year sony try to shut down the ps3 & vita stores and i try to get as much digital games asap. thankfully they didn't shut it down but i can't buy directly games from my vita and ps3 now because sony make this option unavailable, only by adding balance via my ps5 or buying a playstation store gift card (thats rare in my country to find one because nobody buy them).
also one game i recommend to get on the wii u eShop is tekken tag tournament 2, i myself rather play it on the ps3 with dualshock 3 controller because tekken was the playstation main fighting franchise until dark resurrection on the psp/ps3 but the wii u is the definitive version of tag 2 with all the characters on the disc without needs for dlc and updates, nintendo content and exclusive tekken ball mode.
Ooh yeah Tekken Tag Tourney 2 was a good one. And yeah the PS3 store going, whenever that DOES happen, would be a huge loss.
i actually already own all these games on the wiiu. wiiu was such a dope console
This is why we shouldn't kill off physical copies of games. Depending on these digital copies that they can take away at anytime sucks.
Oh for real. I've always been pro-physical whenever I can be. Hell, I just imported Eastbound from Japan, purely cause the US hasn't received a physical copy of it yet (and it's playable in English so...)
But yeah 100% agree.
I wanted to take every Wii U game that will never get ported, so I bought Affordable Space Adventure (really fun and one of the best use of the gamepad in any Wii U game), Starfox Guard, Duck Hunt (has Wii mote controls instead of having to use the NES zapper), Chasing Aurora (nice little asymmetrical party game), Pushmo World and NES Remix (these 2 could technically be rereleased but idk I feel that Nintendo will more likely end up porting just the 3DS entries)
I’m thinking about taking NES Remix 2 but if anyone know another cool game that I missed plz tell me :)
It was hard searching for them because literally every “Wii U e-shop exclusive list” is filled with games that are not exclusives anymore
Wanna save money? Ok then you need:
- Devil's Third (Physical is like 400$)
- Fatal Frame (US digital only)
- Metroid Prime Trilogy (physical is like 200 bucks)
- Mario vs Donkey Kong is also digital only
- Xenoblade (available on wii and switch, but just saying)
- Pandora's tower (good luck getting that for under 100$ physical)
Oh wow, did NOT realize Devil's Third was going for that much, whew. Never heard of Pandora's Tower, but just watched some gameplay footage, and now I kind of want to try it. Granted, I'm also a sucker for physical copies so.... Wonder how hard it'll be to track down haha.

@@SimplyAJ even here in Canada those two consoles are the ones that show up the most at my local Value Village. I'm fairly certain a lot of them have the red ring of death though so some poor gamer may be in for a nasty surprise.
I'm so confused. This video came out in October, but we didn't get news of the eShop closures until February this year. How....
Don’t miss the Pokemon Ranger Games!!
Ooh yeah absolutely!
Hi, can't you just use your Nintendo account to purchase whatever you want from eshop online instead of directly from the eshop on the console???
Yeah I been able to use mine today.
@@SimplyAJ Oh, forgot to mention, yes I've seen it, and I used your advice to help decide on a few games to snag. So much obliged for that.
@@ignasia7230 For sure, glad it helped!

Happy to hear it! Yeah it's a fun little party game for sure.

Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission

Super Mario RPG is one of my favorite games of all time, so, hope you enjoy it!
This aged well ☠️
@@blizzard1408 Well, it was true at the time. It was not a fact. Now it is. I hate it, the fact that the online way of handling things today makes (legal) accessability to older games way more short lived. We have the technology to make things happen, but we do not make things happen. We make things unhappen.
Don't forget about Harvest Moon(SNES) Metabots Gold, and hidden TurboGrafx games
Ooh yeah, the TurboGrafx are definitely some that should absolutely be grabbed, purely due to the rarity of it all.
This is a pretty good video you should probably make another video about this again but at least Earthbound is added to Nintendo Online!
Notable JRPGs to get for the Wii U? Including physical, digital & virtual console games
On the Virtual Console:
NES: Earthbound Beginnings, Little Ninja Brothers.
@@SimplyAJ Yeah but anyone who has a wii u would probably know due to it really only being bought by Nintendo fans.
@@StrikerSML Not really. Kids? Do they have such memory? Even average adult will not realized what they can't remember. Most adult gamers only know of putting money on Switch, PS4 or 5, and etc.
@@tr1bes The only people I see still using the wii u are nintendo fans in their adulthood. Which are the people that would know.
You can also link a Switch account and send funds through that.
i'm pretty sure that the store will last longer as it is connected with 3DS games.
(Also playing GBA Metroid games on the TV would be a huge plus)
Hope to get all the digital versions soon before the shop is really gone.
Wait, there are just Virtual Console games? I can get those on other systems...
Earthbound and beginnings are on switch now haha!
Ahaha, I know right?! I swear, I keep making videos, and Nintendo keeps making them obsolete. Ah well, it's good news for Earthbound fans for sure!

Ambinos to buy for Wii U games. The shovel knight thing I watched on your privioues video surprised me
The problem is that even if we get all those games before the Eshop closes, the hardware of the WiiU itself could just die in a few years… I hope it’s built to last at least for a while.
Yeah, such is the case for all this stuff, unfortunately. Eventually, even our discs and cartridges will cease functioning as well. Only so much you can do, but definitely need to make sure you power cycle your electronics every now.
ye the wii u+ 3ds eshop is completely closing in late march 2023
I recommend the 2 hd remakes of wind waker and twilight princess
Both good choices, especially since, both of these are getting more and more expensive, physically.
I've a feeling those two may end up on the switch at some point.
@@SimplyAJ sweet! Will definitely keep an eye out 👍🏾
Thanks dude
Sure thing, hope ya score some good games.
Just found your channel. Subing cause of content and.....the hair. Yeah baby!
Ahaha, thanks dude! I appreciate the double compliment haha
Demon's Crest is also a Good Game to get cause if you try to get a Physical SNES cart. Hope you're prepared to spend $2000 dollars on it. But The Wii U was the first time it got a Rerelease, and while it is on the Switch Online SNES Library, this is the last time you'll be able to download this SNES Hidden Gem.
will castlevania advance collection be released physical for switch or is it just digital?
So, there hasn't been any sort of announcement on it yet, but with the way Limited Run Games has been snagging up the publishing rights to these Castlevania Collections, mark my words, I'd put money on the fact that by the end of this year, they'll announce a physical copy of it haha.
The day Nintendo officially closes the eShop on both the Wii U and N3DS is going to suck, big time. But at the same time, I'm glad I thought ahead and made this years prior: th-cam.com/play/PLZrviRQSpZmexf9lURcWy2XYOg_I6cTjj.html
...2 weeks later you jinxed us...
I do own a physical copy of Game and Wario. Lucky me!
Oh that's rad! I'm definitely jealous, would love to have that one day haha.
I suggest some ds games
There's definitely some good DS games to be had on there, for sure.
I am still salty about how Golden Sun was treated in the European eShop.
We got the original no strings attached.
Then the second one came out later and it was english-only for some reason. It's not like they had no other translations. Nintendo just decided against rereleasing the European ROM for whatever reason. Why is everyone's guess.
pov ur here in 2022 but still bought minish cap
Car Battler Joe
Fire Emblem (2003)
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Klonoa: Empire of Dreams
Klonoa 2: Dream Champ Tournament
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Dr. Luigi(?)
Breath of Fire
Breath of Fire 2
Ooh for sure. Especially with the Klonoa remakes coming out, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would want to play these as well. Dr Luigi is one I definitely forgot about too, as did Nintendo, apparently haha.
You forgot to mention Chick Chick boom !̆̈
looks like ill have to get cards from eb games
I bought over 150 eShop games on Wii U and 75-80 physical retail games. I think i'm fine. :)
I like Wii U more than Switch for several reasons.
I have to buy wii u eshop cards now to buy wii u games.
How dare you say "nobody really asked for this" when talking about Mother 1's first ever official English release. SO MANY people in the EB community were elated at this news. :/
Ahaha, I mean, it's said as a joke (also why it's on this list, because I like it), since at the time, many people were (and still are of course) waiting for an official release of Mother 3.
pikmin 1 & 2 bro
Not gonna lie, I've actually never played a Pikmin game. But, I suppose now would be the chance to fix that!
I have Pikmin 1 and 2 for Gamecube. I promise you that I kid y'all not.
F-zero gp and f-zero maximum velocity. Both gba games
Oh yeah good choices!
@@SimplyAJ For now I'm just glad my purchases are tied to my account unlike the Wii where it was tied to the console itself.
Hahha...yes I hear you. I was going to take my wii u to my friends house. ...not now. Never going to happen. My little baby is staying home 😃
It's worth figuring out how to hack your system and put backups on a hard drive. People are getting better at repairing and restoring older systems as time goes on as well, so no need to believe in a bleak future. Emulation remains a last resort as well should your system fail, provided you take time to make some backups.
😞man...
I dont have problem with wii u
but the 3ds 💔
Yeah it's a huge bummer. But I'll be covering 3DS titles in another video hopefully soon!
@@SimplyAJ Looking forward to that, subbed so I don't miss it! :)
How come the 3DS is left out in the dark with all these great gba games?
Well, this was specifically just for games on the Wii U, but don't worry, I'll be covering the 3DS soon too!
I’m buying $50 worth of virtual console games on the 3ds and Wii U. Anyone have any suggestions?
Depends what you’re into. With Zelda the best ones to get are Link’s Awakening and Minish Cap. 3D Classics Kirby’s Adventure is a fun game and is the best looking NES game you’ll ever play. Metroid Zero Mission is super fun and probably won’t have an official way to play after the closure for a long time. If you like Pokémon then Crystal is an extremely fun experience with some great retro graphics. Those are all the ones I’ve played
now we are closing in 2023 :/
Indeed, but at least it gives people a bit more time to grab the games they want, at the very least.
well
This entire video didn't age well. The announcement you showed was for the Japan market.
You can just use gift cards tho
gootecks?
No need to panic, CFW emulation is the solution, LOL!
