i might be moving to london from the US in a year ish for grad school and these videos have been so helpful! they're actually helping to calm my anxiety about moving so far from home quite a bit lol
i love these videos! im also canadian looking to move from toronto to london in april, so its really helpful to see how much things costs compared to toronto :)
I love the vibe of your videos! May I ask what camera and editing software you use? That actually would make a cool video too (only if you’re up for it!)
Aw thank you! haha that's a great idea, vlogging how I vlog? 😂 Shots at home are mostly on my Canon M50, outside I just use my iphone 13 pro. :) And editing I use premier pro.
i am shocked how cheap it is to live in London (minus the rent).. I live in Singapore and groceries and a sandwich like that is at least double if not triple the cost!
It’s not. I think she missed to put a 1 before her £311. It should be £1311 for a flat she lives in. Even in sharing it should not be less than £2500/month. Unless she lives in super far from the London prime. I think there’s trying to hide some info so we don’t know her real salary.
My rent here was £1350 per month, I rented it before the crazy price increases. But even so after I moved out recently it was only relisted to £1700 per month. And this was in zone 2 near tufnell park station. :)
Thanks! Haha so it really depends, this one probably 16 hours which is less than a normal vlog. The little coin graphics and general format I used from a previous version of this video I made, but with my normal vlogs there’s no structure so it actually takes me longer. 😅
I’m moving to London in the next few months. I was there for 3 months last year, but now moving there permanently (Youth Mobility for now). I’m curious what you think about being single in London. When I was there, I went on a lot of dates, but didn’t bring home dates much (compared to Montreal, where I am rn) because I was living with flatmates. I’m a guy who just turned 31, so I’m curious what you think about living situations. Should I pay the singles tax and just pay an additional 500-700 pounds per month to live along in zone 1 so that I can have privacy with romantic partners (who would probably have flatmates themselves) or is the privacy thing not that big of a deal in London because everyone understands how expensive it is? In my case, I’m looking for a life partner, so I don’t care about casual hookups/dating. So I wouldn’t be brining someone new home several times per month. I just don’t know if it’s a financially wise decision. I can afford it for the most part, but an extra 700 pounds per month is a lot.
really depends! but I def think people in flat shares here are more understanding of having guests over etc... something to chat about with your flatmates before hand, but Its very common from what i hear for people to have partners over all the time in flat shares. I would say it's worth paying more if you just don't want to think about your flatmates and kinda needing to give them heads up or w.e since it's really a toss up who you end up living with unless you know someone personally. 😅
Would recommend around marlyebone/regent park/little Venice, london fields/broadway market/Columbia road flower market down to shoreditch and than just following the Thames down from the tate to a bit beyond the London eye is quite cute as well!
Great video Monica! It was very interesting seeing what life in London looks like. I've noticed you're reading a $100 Startup. I got that book recommended to me several times, so I was wondering if it's worth reading.🤔 Btw, do you respond to emails? I might have a business inquiry for you. Let me know.😁
@@MonicaXGuan thanks ☺️ definitely a treat and a timeless outerwear that will last for a long time! Fun to see your vlogs and get inspired to explore london more 👌✨
Thanks for this informative video! It would be amazing if you could potentially give an indication to what your salary is around to know how much is needed to afford this kind of lifestyle :)

I love this! My dream is to move to London one day so it’s great comparing costs to what I pay here in West Los Angeles.
Lol anywhere is cheaper than La

That white shirt at 7:45!! Where's it from? I can tell I'll love it just by looking at the collar/upper design
It’s from COS!
Love the videos, how long does it take you to edit for a week?

Thanks! Haha I love the coin sounds, I wish TfL had those whenever I tap in. Your videos remind me to actually get out and explore London more 😊
Hi Monica, sorry might be so off-topic but where is your grey skirt from at 4:30 of the video? It's so pretty
It’s from zara! It’s a skort :)

Rent at £311 per week is such great value for zone 1! Im paying more than £500! Probably getting ripped off 😢
Where are your top 3 fav areas to walk around in London? I'll be traveling in a month and would LOVE to know!

Where did you order the coat from? It’s gorg!
The grey one is from Acne Studios :)

Acne studio! I got it on sale :)

Do you houseshare or split the rent? £300 a week for an apartment is really cheap in London!
Ya I rented this flat at a time when it was a bit cheaper, not I think it's def gone up 🥲
@@MonicaXGuan ahhh super lucky! Deffo can’t find those prices at all in London anymore unless it’s practically a bedsit 😭
Do you mind telling me what phone company do you use?
I use EE, £12 for 8gb a month. :)
@@MonicaXGuan thank you

Fixed expenses £361. BULLSHIT. Should be atleast £3610
This is per week? My rent here was £1350 per month so with bills it is around £361 per week 😅
Why don't you read the title again before losing your mind?
Where do you get your hair done in London?
I usually do the colouring myself but for cuts I've had good experiences at Jubilee in central :)
Jesus Christ, you know how to spend. London (UK) isn't a cheap place to live.
