I like that you're getting new cards. Also the UK map is very thematic as Britain was the birthplace of the steam railway, so starting off with very basic routes and having to develop tech fits in with the early growth of the railway in Britain. Nice!

Nice review, glad I found this channel. I have Europe, Switzerland, and China and I absolutely love Ticket to Ride. I play with two house rules to make the game faster, both involving drawing train cards. The first rule is that you draw two cards off the top at the start of your turn, always. The second rule is that drawing a face-up Locomotive doesn't end your turn, instead you get a face-up Locomotive and a face-down card off the top. On Switzerland in particular this makes the game much more competitive and fast past, with the race aspect really coming to fore. What do you think?
Had an amusing thing happen last weekend during a gaming event at my house. I was playing another game and some folks started playing TTR UK&Penn . They came up a bit later while playing Pennsylvania asking why where were so many train wrecks... They were using the UK deck because it was in the box with the board :)

I store most of my boards, the cards that don't fit into the insert (So, Marklin's trains and usually I think I need one set of tickets), the Marklin passenger chits, and the spare trains due to having both Marklin and USA in my USA box, and a board, the rules, as many cards as will fit, and the trains and score markers we actually use in the insert. Usually wind up swapping what board is in the main box whenever I play it, but with just a single extra board and another deck of cards, I reckon you could store everything in one box.
Does the UK map play well with 3 players? Would there be enough competition? We play "Nordic Countries" a lot with 3, but I have heard that "Europe" and "USA" are better with at least 4 players.

The city choices for TTR:Europe are just weirdly, though. Not including York, which is a city of historic importance to the UK railway, being the most obvious oversight.
Same question came to my mind about the two cards stock. What's the point to take the first card just to be outplayed by the next player? I guess it adds a bit of tension like "maybe i should take this stock now and MAYBE nobody will notice this and I will take the second one later", but this is so unlikely and you are just giving someone points.

You know I was a little upset with the draw three off the top card. It seems so broken on first glance. Maybe it should come with a negative point bonus.
I really want to eventually see a TTR with the stock an technology on a mega map...could be a totally made up map too! OR make a Europe to Asia combo with Tech and Stock. It really needs to play like Europe though, not like the original which is kinda bland and doesn't have the complexity of ferries etc.
The UK map is the Agricola of TTR. It's a game that constantly forces player to do things they don't want to do. It removes the casualness of TTR and replaces it with mechanisms that force the player to constantly collect technology cards in order to do things that require much less effort in other TTRs. And that's just annoying. The technology cards add more stuff to do without giving much room for greater strategy. Having more stuff to do doesn't necessarily make for a more strategic or satisfying game.
Can people who are playing United Kingdom please tell me how you are interpreting the Technology Card "Right Of Way" that allows you to claim a route that someone else has already played? Reason: I am foreseeing 3 debates with my family and I just want to see if I can get a consensus. First, if there are more than 2 players someone can play the same route on a double track without using a Right of Way card but in a 2-player game the Right of Way could be very significant. Take for ex. Edinburgh to Newcastle. There are double tracks. So, player A plays the green track...player B cannot play the pink track. However, player B is holding the Right of Way Tech Card so I'm assuming player B can play the Tech Card and 3 pink cards and place train cars BESIDE player A's train cars (share the route) and thus, have permission to play on the double track in a 2-player game...NO PROBLEM. The problem is when you have 3-4 players and the single or double track is already occupied and someone then wants to claim a route. Do they play their train cars and remove the other player's cars from the board (thus claiming the route)? Does claiming mean to share the same route or take over the route? It seems claiming would mean to take possession of someone else's route because IF you have 3-4 players and 2 have already taken possession of the Edinburgh to Newcastle route (green and pink tracks) then how does player 3 or 4 claim a route? Do they remove someone's train cars so they can play theirs OR do they choose the green or pink track; play the 3 cards of the same color and then place their train cars beside the other player (not on the allotted spaces but beside). Thus, Edinburgh to Newcastle could then be occupied by 1, 2, 3 or even 4 players. So...how are you playing the Right of Way? Claiming to share the same route with someone already on that route OR claiming (take possession of OR removing) their route so that you can play yours. This would also be very significant in the single track routes. If someone has already claimed the Londonderry to Dundalk route (3 pink cards/cars) and someone else wants to claim it; how would he/she use the Right of Way Tech Card OR do you even think it can be used on a single track route? Instead we get "Thanks for backing the deluxe edition, but now buy a regular edition (or a set of trains elsewhere for the same money) if you want to play an expansion."

We played last night with five people. My son won without having some important technology cards. Because there are only four cards available of each. So if you don't purchase them right away you can miss out on getting them. My son actually liked the challenge of it, without some of the cards.

in my experience, the game treats it as though it's IN another country, and not necessarily that it itself is another country. Though that may be just because I live within 2 hours of Ontario...

4 years later, did not realize Ticket to Ride had so many different maps (knew they had other maps, standalone and "add on", but not ones like these!)
