well, I never was into vocoder sound using vocal, but....for house and techno style - vocoder with drums is a bliss....you can even try with Resochord, or similar things (Maschine vst), the sound of drums/percussion, basic and boring drum loops sent through this fx makes the cool harmony. recently I did experiment with live drumming on rOLAND TR8 through vocoder/rezonator - latency makes it bit unfriendly for live use though, but the general idea like above to use vocoder fed with drums is very cool!

So I have an issue in ableton with actually recording the audio. How do I actually record the voice audio into a track?
