Especially now since they have been excluded from the top division of the new incoming world league in 2026 (from what I remember the last 2 spots of the top division will be given to south hemisphere teams) and no promotion/relegation will be allowed before 2030 at the very least. That means they won't even get anymore the only 1 or maybe 2 tests they manage to get each years vs Tier 1 nations. Totally unfair for this generation of players and for all the effort they've done all these years. That's why I hope they'll write history during this World Cup, to send a message.
Yes you’re right and I tend to agree with what you say. The days of elitism and financial snobbery in Rugby should be consigned to history. Rugby is supposed to be an inclusive sport and the game should be expanding to new territories and audiences but instead it’s being stifled because of selfish and outdated attitudes many which seem to be within World Rugby. Not exclusively though as they can’t really touch the 6N. I get the 6N historical integrity etc they won’t tolerate relegation but as a pro tournament they need to look at expansion. Perhaps 2 more teams? They will take a financial hit in the early years but in the long run i think it would be worth it overall. What is the alternative? The status quo remains and developing teams are stifled. Georgia is prevented from reaching their full potential and are forever stuck in Rugby Europe Championship. It’s about time the slate was wiped clean and deserving teams are rewarded on merit rather than by how much money they have in the bank. I know it won’t happen it’s just wishful thinking on my part.

Mainly because it's one of the rare event in rugby that really works great financially so I can understand that they are not in a hurry to change it (especially if you also take into account that at least 4 of the 6 unions who own it could just not survive without the 6N money). But with this new Nations League, World Rugby had an easy opportunity to reward the most promising teams for their effort. OK I get that they choose to put directly the 6N and 4 RC teams directly in the top division. But to me they should have at the very least: 1) make the 4, 5 or 6 others best ranked teams fight on the field for the last 2 top division spots. 2) start the 2nd division at the same time as the top one in order to give them an opportunity to fight for a promotion right away and not wait 2030 to "may be" start a second tier competition. Wales and England are the six nations dude. I think there is a chance for it to become the 7 Nations if what you are saying gives Georgia a chance. We were basically demolished today by the second line-up of the georgian national team, if i'm not mistaken i've heard that 12 out of the 15 georgian players that started today against Romania usually are substitutes when it comes to picking the best 1st team. I congratulate Georgia, you have a fan in me, aim big and try to finish 2nd, it's a small chance but it's still a chance guys 🇬🇪 💪! To be honest it's not such of a surprise this loss, maybe the proportions of the score but Romania has goten worse with each year, we are even worse than we were in 2019 although we didn't played at the RWC in Japan but for different reasons. There are many causes that can explain this downgrade starting with the collapse of male team sports in our country (you name it - football, volleyball, handball, basketball, water polo etc. and of course rugby) because lack of investments & infrastructure or due to the corruption & the politicisation of sports. What i mean by politicisation of sports you might ask ? Well here in this country sports federations including the romanian rugby federation are basically used as instruments to leak funds to whichever rulling party holds power or is governing the country, therefore each federation has a permanent cabal of partymen in its administration, incompetent but loyal people (who most of the time have nothing in common with the sport they should represent) named in key managerial positions who basically supervise the process of leaking public funds who follow this path : we all know the state collects taxes and year after year it declares a public budget -> from this central public budget funds are allocated to each institution including the minister of sports who itself then splits the money it has received to multiple affiliated federations -> after which then these federations will usually engage in different overpriced economic activities or overpriced expenses where only "special" private firms & enterprises are allowed to partake, companies which in fact belong to party rulers or party oligarchs or their relatives....and that's how money who should have been directed to building & mantaining infrastructure & youth development actually end up in the pockets of a special class of people that we all respect and love, POLITICIANS, don't we all?! This also usually means that the head of the federation, the head of the governent body of your favourite sport is 8 times out of 10 named & backed politically as well - for ex. the president of the romanian rugby federation - Alin Petrache - although a former rugby player himself has acquired special protection from the political sphere which make him now untouchable although for the last at least 10 years or maybe more he has been "managing" perfectly, i would say, this slow but steady decline of the romanian rugby. Of course there are also other factors like lack of private funds for the development of rugby, lack of coaches and the ones that are still active most of them have outdated methods, lack of youth (Romania is heavily "bleeding" its young population who prefers to migrate to western Europe in hope of a better future for them & their kids etc.) for basic level recruitment purposes and many more but overall what i said earlier in my opinion tends to play a bigger role for why we are getting worse & worse with each passing year. All is left for now is for us to start praying, literally pray so as to not make a fool of ourselves at this World Cup. Maybe i sound dramatic and hopefully i'll be wrong and we'll manage to keep the proportions of the score in our future losses to a somewhat decent level.

I’d like to see a 2 division 6 Nations of 12 teams with promotion/relegation but it’s unlikely to happen because the 6N is privately owned. Allowing weaker teams in would seriously dilute their finances and it’s sadly all about money.

Romania is traditionally a close rival to Georgia , so the fact Georgia now breezes past them easily shows you how freaking good their team has become in recent years. The best teams require experience, exposure and fine tuning in order to be able to perform well, so imagine how much better Georgia could be with regular games against tier 1 nations. So much potential in these Tier 2 sides. They need more exposure to top level competition.
