    I regularly use these blades about every week and a half. I do not go over the same spot several times, there is no need to. I pull my skin taut and go along with the grain. I've never had a problem! Got nicked once because my my attention wavered. I sterilize it before vise every time. Used with care, it's been a great tool.

      I should say I always use it on DRY skin! When the skin is damp there seems to be greater risk of nicks.

    I have been using the Tinkle razors for years and have never cut myself. I use it on dry skin, some people use oil. Agreed common sense dictates you must be careful. I get baby soft skin.

    Thank you Nikol! I have been using makeup since I was 13 and am now 66. I have always done my eyes first. It never made sense to me to put on your foundation and then have your hands on it while applying your eye 👁 shadows and mascara. I use a battery operated tool to shave my face. No nicks or cuts!

  • @carolphillips3594

    I have to confess, I have used just a plain old Gillette mens razor to remove facial hair. It's easier than the drugstore "tinkle" razors. To get into tight corners or planes, I use short strokes of the tinkle blade. Overall, I have been scraped, nicked, and cut by the tinkle blade, so the Gillette covers a larger area with less stubble and less nicks. You have to be slow and deliberate as getting sloppy with any blade will result in cuts and scrapes.

    Thank you for teaching the eye first method! I always struggled with fallout, especially getting older. And, thank you for teaching us to change things up as we get older. My makeup looks so much better! I didn’t wear much until my 40s when I had cystic acne - just eyeliner, mascara and some rose blush on cheeks and eyes to brighten them. Now, I’m having so much fun with color and making older eyes pop but not look over made! And, good quality shadows are a must! I was always cheap and it showed.

    I’ve never had a problem with those blades. My bigger concern is why you kept shaving after the first cut. You had to see blood before you got through your whole face.

  • @gingersmith2888
    @gingersmith2888 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I bought some of those blades and they have worked great for me. Other methods of exfoliating weren’t doing anything for me because I didn’t realize how much dead skin was on my face. It was very surprising especially the first few times I used these blades, because SO much dead dry skin was removed from my face. My skin is much more soft and supple and now absorbs products better. I have only had a couple of superficial nicks because I was going over and over the same spot too much because there was so much dry skin coming off, so now I don’t overdo it at one time. If it ever becomes a problem with my skin, I will discontinue using, but for now I am happy with the results.

    I use the Flawless Finishing Touch battery powered shaver. It's actually been a life-saver because it works so well at removing hairs on my chin, sides of my mouth and the 'sideburns' area too! It's much easier to use than any of those blade tools and has never caused any cuts or abrasions. If I didn't shave every so often I would be walking around with literally long whiskers on my chin and sides of my mouth !! I enjoy your videos, keep it up : )

    I am so glad your friend is healing. Eyes are so important. I watch you because I learn and none of us here have perfect skin. Practice makes perfect and sometimes we have to just keep working with it. I do love my mat eye shadow but I add a little slight shimmer at the end in the middle of my lid. To much shows to much texture. I also love that you encourage us to try something different but not dramatic. Ugh we aren’t 25 anymore and some things we see on other women simply aren’t for us. You are so real and funny. I am soooo with you on the practice of doing eyes first, clean up and then face. I have been doing that for years and it saves me a lot of headaches. I started playing with eye makeup when I was 12. Mom didn’t know because I took it off before she got home from work. I saw an article in Good Housekeeping that show different eye shapes and how to apply eye makeup to enhance those shapes. I would love to see you do something like that

    I generally use the pricier Dermaflash tool that is plugged in. You insert a fresh blade each time. I also find it easy to use a regular razor and just make sure to insert a fresh clean blade. And then be careful! Those cheapie tools from the drugstore are useless! I tend to avoid the CT Pillowtalk line, as peachy pink is not terribly flattering on me. I prefer using Naughty Nancy and Sweet Carol. Glad to hear that Francesca is doing well! I completely agree with doing eyes first, as eyes are my best feature and also has the potential for fallout. Great video Nikol! Never miss one.

    Thank you for warning us about tinkle razors. I thought I was the only one who had problems using them, and I have tried many brands. Every time, I knicked myself, and a few times I got pimples afterwards. The pimples have to be a result, because I am in my 60s and acne is long behind me.

      I cut up my face with one of those things because I was careless...and didn't have enough light to see what I was doing. When I was done...I realized I had cuts all over my face. That was 3 yrs ago and I still have dark spot scarring all over my midface from my stupidity. I did the same thing with my dermaroller. Got too aggressive with it and got scars from that as well. Needless to say...I steer clear of all of those gadgets. I'll stick with chemical peels and the "safe" face shavers available to remove the peach fuzz.

    • @debcollins8231
      @debcollins8231 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maureenperez9999 I am so sorry. That is terrible. You may not take comfort in what I am about to say right now. I could not have been more careful with every brand I used, and got the same results as you. I have a little scar at the left corner of my mouth and am almost certain it is a result of one of these razors. I even tried gently on my neck where the peach fuzz is darker, and ended up with a SPECTACULAR and painful ingrown hair and some very persistent pimples on my jawbone. My experiences with these razors, facilitated the return of a micro needling kit I bought and was eager to try. Have a lovely evening.

    • @maureenperez9999
      @maureenperez9999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@debcollins8231 Thank you for your kind response. The dermaroller was the micro needler I used that cut me up the worst...due to my carelessness. I was using a .50 not the .25 which would have been safer for me. I am notorious for thinking "sharper"...yields better results.
      The damage from the tinkle dermaplaner was less...but contributed to the dark spots I am desperately trying to fix now. I had spent well over 150 dollars for "does nothing" products for spots, before I found something that helps. Long road ahead for me.
      I hope you are not using the .50. If you are...learn from my story. Don't get aggressive with it and regret it. I am a damn fool.👀🤦‍♀️ Have a wonderful evening yourself.😊

    I have to say that eye primer is quite possibly the best makeup tip ever and I thank you for it. I bought one from Amazon to tide me over until I can visit a Sephora store and see the products in real life. I’m almost 70 and not very wrinkly yet but the blue-gray eye bags are not one bit attractive on my very fair skin. They make me look haggard even on the best of days. The combo of eye primer on my lids, peachy colour corrector gently blended on the bags, navy pencil rubbed into my upper lash line and a bit of lipstick is often all I need to look like I’ve had a couple of extra hours of sleep. My new 2-minute no makeup routine before housework, yardwork or no work at all.

    I use the coil you bend and roll - I think it’s called a spring threader. It prickles but it get those fine hairs so well I don’t have to do it but every six months or so. I have sensitive skin but don’t really get much redness which goes away quickly with some calming toner I make: 4 oz. Quinn’s cucumber witch hazel, 10 drops grapefruit essential oil, 15 drops patchouli essential oil, 15 drops grapefruit seed extract. Proven to calm the skin and smells like you are in the spa! The grapefruit seed extract removes bad bacteria that can cause “cystic acne. I also use Grounded Sage activated charcoal soap every morning. The two cured by 15-year painful battle with cystic acne in about 5 months. Their grapefruit soap got too expensive so I made my own calming toner. You MUST calm the skin after the drawing charcoal or you will be very painful with everything coming to the surface. I’ve done this routine for 8+ years and have never had another issue. My face went back to smooth and clear. I have an extremely oily head and dry body skin common with being polycystic. Also, gave up 90% sugar consumption which helped the pcos a lot!

    I had my face done with laser hair removal and now I just use an ordinary razor for any little hairs that pop up occasionally, it was the best thing ever I had done, also had my arms and legs done as well, so no more shaving for me and what little hairs that grow on my legs are so fine that you can hardly see them unless I’m out in sunlight but they’ve come back so fair also which is strange because I’m a natural very dark brunette and had dark hair growth, I’ll sometimes go back maybe once a year for a laser touch up getting ready for Summer 🌺. Oh my gosh, I bought those once. Never again! They don’t work. Dermaflash works and worth paying a bit extra esp if you don’t have time to go to a professional. WAY before it became a thing I was derma planing. I use to use one of those tools that use batteries that are advertised for brows. It works if you’re patient and do little sections at a time. Also found it was safe. At 48 I’m glad I found your channel. I stay away from Instagram & other beauty channels. Funny you mentioned your mom. My mom at 80 uses shimmer and rocks it. She doesn’t look 80. Think I have the same necklace you’re wearing. Is it from Tiffany’s? Used to be a favorite to give as a Godmother for baptism or confirmation gift. Refreshing channel for over 40’s who want to feel under 40 but look appropriate.

      Hi May I ask exactly what tool of dermaflash you use and wear to order it. Thank you

    I never used this tool, but I bought years ago from eBay a hair roller removal tool that you roll on your face which removes the hair from the root. It can be a bit painful at first particularly around the mouth, but this tool works well with zero chance of any cuts. I use it at around every 10 days or whenever I feel the need. I just do it when I am relaxing or watching tv, it takes several minutes, you won’t get every hair out, but I really like the results it gives.

    Please watch how you use the Gua Sha on your neck. If your put pressure on your major vessels , i.e. Carotid, it may cause a dissection and subsequent stroke.

    This video automatically played after I watched a bar soap guy review some dove men plus care body wash I wanted to try. Just wanted to say you are so beautiful. Like classic beauty where you'd be a movie star on any era. Cheers

    I’m an esthetician that also used to do dermaplaning. I’ve been using the Shiseido blades successfully on myself for years with never a cut. I did recently switch from a dry skin to using with a bit of oil, which I enjoy more. I have heard that the Tinkles design could be a bit more problematic. Who knows? I guess like anything, different strokes for different folks. 😘

    I use the razors but I always put moisturizer on first then the razor will glide smoothly over the face. Thank you!

    Girl! If I could afford the dermaflash system, I would be able to afford a facial and having it all done by a professional! I wish that I could have it all done professionally, but I’m stuck having to DIY everything on the cheap. 🥺

    The worst blades EVER! I tried them more than once, and I never saw one hair removed, but I did get multiple scratches. Into the trash can each time. I now use a razor and blades called The Bulldog. What a difference. Smooth shave every time. Throw those things out and be kind to your skin.

    I used to be able to get away using them every once in a while with zero issues. But the last batch I bought and used destroyed my face with cuts. Weirdest thing. I’ll just go to a professional. Not worth scarring.

    I have used the blades with no problem. The instructions said to draw the blade only in a downward direction. I have since just used a regular shaving blade. So far no whiskers.

    I have used some of those blades (similar ones) for over 2 years with no problems, no cuts. Mainly to get rid of the peach fuzz on my face. The worst I did was not pay attention to how close I was to an eyebrow and I shaved the tail end of my eyebrow off--had to wait for it to grow back. Just have to use some common sense and not press hard or go over and area many times.

    I've had no problems what-so-ever with those blades. You have to be careful at what angle to hold the blade

    I make my skin taunt, like my father did when he shaved, prepared and deliberated strokes. I’ve never been cut or nicked in 2 yrs. They even get my nostril hairs🐸, yay.

    I have a HORRIBLE reaction with every type of hair removal product but hate the peach fuzz when I wear makeup. I wish I could find something that worked. Laser won’t because it’s not dark hair from my understanding.

    Have a wishlist from your brand. Lol. Definitely the eye primer & the just peachy corrector. Also thinking about that heated lash curler..
    Bought a set of Velcro curlers a long time ago I never used. I recently "finally" got a haircut & decided to give them a try. Found that I love them but unfortunately there were only 4 and I definitely need more. I remember seeing them alot way back but would you believe noone sticks them anymore!? Thought for sure Sally's would have but they didn't even carry them. I'm not much into "ordering", but appears I have no choice. Lol (going to also make an exception to order from your brand. Lol)

      Walmart has a set of the Velcro rollers. About $10. I think they call them self gripping rollers or some such nonsense. Good luck!

    You are not kidding! Those things are god-awful and it’s not just one particular brand. I have bought so many different brands over the years and they all do the same thing. To be honest I shave my face with a regular razor that you would use for your legs. I generally use a mach 3. Unfortunately I have developed a lot of black hair on my chin over the years. It started when I was only 20 years old and pregnant with my son. Throughout the pregnancy it got worse and then it just never stopped it got really out of hand. I just shave and make sure that I get my face nice and clean and exfoliate it before hand and it everything works out perfectly that way.
