I'm actually very glad that there was no stinger in Keppy. It sounds like he did get stung, but the bee managed to get the stinger back out. If a bee is unlucky, the stinger will get stuck and that will kill the bee pretty quickly. And since Keppy didn't have an allergic reaction, it sounds like everyone made it out of the situation just fine!
@@MajorKerina if a bee's stinger gets stuck in the skin, it takes the bee's guts with it. it will die shortly after. this is true for ALL bees. it's just far more common in honey bees because of the shape of their stinger.
If I'm not mistaken, bumblebees don't have stingers and honey bees are the only bee-like insect with barbs on their stingers, thus at risk of losing them after stinging. Edit: According to a comment below, I may be mistaken. Female bumblebees might have non-barbed stingers.

Honeybees have barbed stingers that get stuck and pull out a large part of their organ systems, which tends to kill them, most other bees and wasps have smooth stingers, so usually stinging doesn't prove a danger to them. Interestingly, the Queen honeybee has a smoother stinger, so really its just the non-egg laying female honeybees that have barbed ones.
Humans are actually really weird when it comes to bee stings! Bee stingers don’t normally get stuck in whatever they sting and tear off, bees can usually sting many times in their lives. Human skin is just relatively really really weird, and so the stingers get caught where they otherwise wouldn’t.

Sounds like you got at least a little lucky. I would've expected that bee to forgo "escape" and immediately go for the offensive on the closest person/animal around. Being trapped in that bag for a while, and then pounced on by a cat as soon as it got out... That could've been a VERY angry bee, right there.
I'm glad Keppy didn't get stung(or if he did, isn't allergic!) My mom's pup tried to eat a wasp one day and was stung, but luckily she wasn't allergic! Also, yes I totally agree Stephen! Getting the sampler anywhere is my absolute favorite way to try a new place (for example, Fazolis and Cracker Barrel have great samplers)
Loki, my cat, got stung by a bumblebee. We think he licked the stinger out of his paw. But we did the sample thing you did. Looked up what to do. I held a cold washcloth on his paw a little which he hated. Otherwise it was just 'keep an eye on him.' But the worst that happened was his paw swelled up for a day or two.

Turns out it wasn't but if that would've been it, I would've laughed and felt bad about laughing. ... Anyway! I'm very glad that Kep is ok! I've only been stung by one animal in my life, and it was a bumblebee. It got itself stuck on my leg in my pants and it stung me in the back of my knee. I did not even know it had gotten in there, so to suddenly feel a sharp pain down there really caught me off guard. In my childhood, I was always told bumblebees are unable to sting and to this day when I'm telling the story I still get people who doubt the legitimacy of it because "bumblebees can't sting".
Oh poor Keppy lol I stepped on a yellow jacket last weekend the night before I was going the Renaissance faire dressed as yennefer. I had to shove my swollen foot into high heeled boots and walk on it all day and every time it hurt I was like I hope that yellow jacket suffered. Lol

The odds are he wasnt stung because for one, you found no stinger and if he had been stung the Bee would most likely be dead. Yes, there is a chance the Bee's stinger didn't get stuck (which is what causes them to die) but from what I know most Bee's arn't very lucky in that regard

You should get dna tests for them and do research to see if any of their prominant breeds are pre disposed to deadly allergies and then get them tested for that. Did it with my cat for his intestinal issues.
