Concerning Tolkien: It is said that Legolas' skill with the bow is nearly equal to Beleg Cuthalion. Beleg, an elf from the first age, who is said to be the best archer of all time, is only second to Orome, the Valar of the hunt.
Yondu is watching this while singing, "Watch out here comes my arrow it flies super fast and kills everyone. Watch out here comes my arrow, these guys all suck and Yondu is the one."
Nearly lost the obligatory like over the new Robinhood, got it back for Abigail Whistler, and now I’m just sure Matt Damon is holding Alan hostage. It explains it all.
A bit surprised Nobutada from Last Samurai didn't make this list; also curious about Green Arrow, considering his having to learn it from scratch on an island with nothing, which is a cool backstory aspect of learning marksmanship
Especially when the title is “in film “ and game of thrones is an HBO series not film so Oliver should definitely be on this list, it is said he is a better archer then Hawkeye cause for a long time he didn’t use his trick arrows and still was able to hang with the big dogs. A comprehensive comparison between the various archers could be cool like Hawkeye being stronger and faster and a better fighter, green arrow having more skill at the bow.
You might consider giving Errol Flynn a mention the next time you reference Robin Hood. He set the standard, originally. Some recommendations for honorable mentions: Katnis Everdeen(The Hunger Games) Dutch(Predator) Netyeri(Avatar)
The bit in blade where whistlers practicing and her shots get more powerful as she gets more angry always kills me. Apparently she has the "emotionally variable drawweight" option installed....
unforgivable that you had Rambo and Lara croft on there, instead of Choi-jong-byeong-gi hwal, War of the Arrows. One of the best films about a man and his bow.
Cuase katniss is fighting children in a gladiatorial contest. not war or for good or just reasons to kill people also child murder is worse then regular murder
Matt Damon has no place here and the top three movie archers have to be Legolas, Robin Hood and Katniss Everdeen. There's nothing saying they have to be "at war"
@@VinceLammas I don't knkw matt Damon movie but katniss isn't better then some of the other archers such as hawkeye where as Katniss, who don't get me wrong isn't a bad archer doesn't fight super skilled or powerful opponents she fights teenagers. she remained grounded and has good accuracy. As her shots aren't complex form a physics standpoint as her shots from ground at moving or stationary opponents. Hawkeye is using a bow that has the strength of a War bow and is pulling it with ease. His shot vary in complexity such as grounded shots at moving targets to firing while moving himself and managing to nearly hit a God. Hawkeye is clearly more skilled then katniss and she isn't good. Being the centre of her movie she's amazing and flawless but taken out of her movie and compared to most archers on the list she falls due to her being a teenager so she hasn't finished physically developing as well as the fact that most archers on the list are males this is becuase a fit male will be better then a fit female due to muscular mass. Since archery requires large amounts of strength she's at a disadvantage. That's not sexist is biology. Maybe she's better then some others on this list buts she's not in the top three if we take everything into account leglas wins due to not being human and having superhuman abilities and skills such to the point he is tied second best archer in all of middle earth ever to live being beaten by an immortal angel. And hjs the best currently living in the time. Hawkeye for reasons of he is skilled to the point he is fighting aliens and robots and superhumans alongside other supwrhumans whwn he is just a superskilled regular human in peak physical health. Then robin hood as he is the most skilled of all but fights armed medieval knights and soldiers and outclasses crossbowmen but since he fights with a turkish recurved bow which is a mid card draw weight and is fighting regular mortals his in third
@@VinceLammas also since I failed to mention the war side. No there's nothing saying war in the judgements. However fighting in war does give you more advantages is you survived as it gives you combat situational awareness and your used to combat situations so you don't falter as you have experienced the worse combat situation a person can. Robin hood legolas and hawkeye have all been soldiers and know what thats like katniss is a hunter who ends up hunting humans. She is in a gladiatorial situation which is different to war as gladiators are fighting for entertainment thats why gladiators don't make good warriors as they have a different outlook compared to experienced veterans.
@@curtisbraebairn3608 Actually I'm not a massive fan of the Hunger Games stories but they are OK. I'm not sure Katniss can be accused of child murder. She's forced into fighting for survival against others also prepared to use deadly force ... in a system of "representative gladiatorial combat" imposed by a tyrannical government.
Oh man starting with game of thrones I thought you were going to go into the full lore side and go with Anguy. I suppose Brynden Tully's shot was impressive too though.
Another thing I like about Hawkeye, not shown in the movies, is that he is an expert at any projectile. He can do pinpoint with anything from a pebble to a book and more.

1981 TV movie/series pilot The Archer: Fugitive from the Empire. Main character Toran has a magical bow that is bonded to him. Was pretty awesome to watch then, but I am sure if watched today it would be cheezy
personally i do like the heroic Spirit EMIYA, more commonly saying his name is just Archer representing him being just a nameless bowman with no legend to enhance his power compared to beings like King Arthur, Gilgamesh and Hercules to have larger then life legends that are old and surrounded in mystery sure he often uses twin swords and is a mage at heart but his best skill comes down to archery, being able to copy other legends weapons and turning them into arrows like Caladbolg and Hrunting, lets not also forget his longbow is as thick as his arm and made with a yet to be discovered material, his ability to see extreme distances, being able to count the rivets on a bridge from a few kms away and being able to hit things with at those kinds of distances he may be a sword, but he is one hell of an archer
something else to mention, Ashitaka you dont use your strong arm to hold the bow, you use that to pull it back, in other words all those times people think he got strength from the corruption... no hes always had it, hes using his WEAK arm to pull back the bow and its ripping peoples limbs off
Never understood the whole "bow is a woman's weapon" because it is easier to wield. A sword is more of a skill based weapon than strength based. Anyone who has wielded a warbow knows the damn thing is hard to pull. Lastly, any bow that is small enough to be easily kept drawn, even by both genders, is a bow you can't hunt with anyways.
The weakest bow will bring down the most aggressive deer in the unlikely event you run into one determined to NOT run an decides it wants a melee kill.
Give a bow to the woman so she can remain safe at a distance, and still help with support. And so she can stand a chance. Look, if a woman is armed with a sword, than I would stand a good chance at killing her, if I also have the same sword. If she has a bow, I stand almost zero chance of killing her. Unless she is completely retarded, she can point and shoot. Only a small percentage of bows in the world are 200lb+ and even if you can't pull full draw, you can still launch an effective arrow at short range. If you and a weaker person have a bow and a sword, be a good person and give them the bow.
@@TrickinNinja I invited you, rather than an indepth discussion on what a typical war bow entails, I invite you to go to a range and find the "typical" bow women actually use. Errol Flynn smirks at your diss
The best Robin Hood is Cary Elwes from Robin Hood: Men in Tights
You really should do a video on Princess Mononoke
And why is he the best? Because he actually speaks with an English accent.
Surprised not to see Katniss Everdeen on this list
Yondu is watching this while singing, "Watch out here comes my arrow it flies super fast and kills everyone. Watch out here comes my arrow, these guys all suck and Yondu is the one."
I think the Fox Robin Hood from Disney was better then the one you went with.
Oo de lally!
Disappointed that the old dude at Helm's Deep didn't make the cut. I'm not saying he's number one, but an honorable mention would be respectful.

Goosefat Bill from King Arthur and the Legend of the Sword would of been a contender.

The lastest Hood movie is quite creative, but i still retain my soft spot for Costner Hood. Great video as always!

Green Arrow? Katniss?
Last time I was this early the title had epidemic in it still.
