  • Building and testing a homemade cultivator to plant wildlife food plots. I couldn't be much happier with the results.

Looks a hell of a lot more fun than ploughing with a tractor.

Hey, that works pretty well! We use a spike tooth drag for our food plot, but it doesn't go as deep into the ground as your cultivator. I'm always looking for a better idea to try. Thanks for posting! If you decided to invest in a 4WD ATV, I would recommend being careful with the clutch. I have gone through about 4 clutches on my Polaris sportsman. BTW, I also liked the music in your video having performed Gershwin many times myself.

Angle Iron was scrap we had laying around. (2 in. angle at Lowes would be about $65.00 ish), Threaded Rod was $2.00, Wheels were $20.00, Blocks were laying around but run about $1.25 ea. Misc metal tube and square tube about $20.00 Finally about $20.00 worth of Rebar. If I was to buy everything, Maybe $150.00 all up.
I used it a couple weeks ago to put in another food plot. I broke a couple Rebar pins off this time. I'm considering switching to an "S"-Tine setup. It will only need 3 or 4 tines and they run about $10.00 each. I'll update if I ever get it done.

When I added the S-tines to the unit, It worked great in grass. But be sure to mow it short and use roundup to completely kill it or it will grow right back.
