Interesting. I prefer her vocal performance on this performance, especially on the final chorus. However, the visuals were personal to her at Roseland compared to here given the context, and that was nice to see her life/career chronicled that way.

love this song. you should probably listen to the studio recordings first and then the live performances so you can experience them like the fans did.

I probably should have done that this week since so many people suggested it, but it'll have to wait until the next Beyonce week. (There are so many to choose from!)
I was thrown off at your perception of her vocal performance haha. I feel that it’s one of her more powerful singing moments & extremely emotive. Usually it hits people hard when they react which is why I was excited to see this. I’m interested to know what more you think could’ve been done?
It just doesn't seem like she ever cut loose! Not like in the Las Vegas performance at the Wynn coming up later this week.

@@oldladybangersI recommend you watch a live concert performance and her Stevie wonder tribute. This even was tame and that’s why she chose the song. It’s not the time for her to cut loose like she normally does
I actually agree with you here. It was nice, but not peak Beyoncé. I would recommend that you review her singing a tribute to Barbara Streisand at the Kennedy Center Honors show (if you haven’t already) She performed ‘The Way We Were’. Streisand was present for the performance. I love Beyoncé, but I was thinking damn, she better do this song justice because it is an ICONIC recording, ESPECIALLY because Barbara was there. I was nervous for her! OMG,, she performed it so softly, and so beautifully that I was cheering for her at the end!! You could tell that Barbara approved, as well as her husband James Brolin. It was hands down one of my favorite live performances by Beyoncé, if not THE favorite!

I'm a huge Beyoncé fan and I agree with you here - this song is a very safe, lovely song and it shows a good portion of her vocal range, but it's nowhere near one of her best songs or performances
This song was sung live in a higher key, but for some reason she chose to record a live version in a lower key for the official video, and it was applied to it in post-production. There are videos on the web proving this btw.
Also, yeah, the live at Roseland version is a semitone higher and her voice sounds brighter. ☺️

It's just my opinion of this song, not a criticism of her personally. This one just isn't that exciting.
