You certainly made the work look easy. As always, a pleasure to see you post a new video.

Thank you, its always easier when you have done it before! On the other hand, chassis bushes are always a swine...

Greetings Steam Wally. I should have watched this before I sat down for 3 days bashing out my spring bushings with a hammer. It did work and some good exercise but not looking forward to the front ones. I'm planning on upgrading to your technique to preserve my sanity. Thanks.

Cheers! Changing bushes is just one of those facts of life so far as Land Rovers are concerned. I keep the extractor kit handy and I dread the task a little less..

Good morning friend, could you give the measurements of the threaded rod extractor kit, long nuts and the width of the short tubes.
I would appreciate it very much 🙏.

good vids mate had trouble with my chassis tube bush. Put a dowel through then put in the drill and took a couple of thou of with sand paper (took a while) then a mate said put the bush in the freezer. Did that and shrank the bush, went in really well. Been in 8 months now still fine ,I thought maybe freezing the bush might damage the rubber but seems ok used you're wind in idea and all's good thanks markus

how do you jack this up and put it on stands to take the weight off the spring to get the bolts out to start with?

hello there, i saw in a previous clip "bearing trouble" you had a page from a manual and would like to know where i can get one. I'm new to LR, have a series 3. The books i currently have don't go into the process like that one. Much appreciated thanks.

That must be the one about the transfer box bearings? If you search for the "Green bible" or the haynes manual for the Series 2, 2a and 3 they will describe the process.

The last lot didn't last long? I seem to recall commenting on you turning the bushes down on the lathe?

That was the chassis bushes, I have found the aftermarket bushes are 0.005" oversize and there is no give in the tube they press into. They don't last all that long but I did expect a bit more from them.

not the easiest of jobs, but that looked easier ...lol..did you have to put the tube on when pulling in the bush ?apart from the small nose of the bush ! , sorry just thinking thats never good ..lol...cheers good tool though x

I made up a shorter bit of tube for pulling the bush into the spring eye, but I couldn't find it.... still worked fine. The dolly that goes behind is turned to accept the shape of the bush, it only bears on the outer part.
Never mind bushes, I've got some flanges to machine soon....ooer!

Have done this to my Series 3 109 2.6, a big job, ended up having to burn them out

Not fun! You can slit them with a hacksaw, a few taps can shrink the OD enough to pull them out.
