seeing that harrier hit the deck for no reason had me rolling. That really was both ends of the War Thunder experience
@magztv the informational ribbon at the bottom with the various weaponry doubles as buttons to use those weapons. So to launch chaff just click the chaff button at the bottom.
Glad you are back Magz!
Con Helm, set course for ONE night with 1 1/2 hours less sleep.
Helm, steady course… AYE AYE
Conn Sonar, new Contact Bearing 108, Track 7001, identified as Alarm Clock
Con Helm, set course for Palm and her 5 sisters
Wooo! Not really a fan of mechs anymore, but this I can get into. Welcome back, sir!
Great to see new naval gameplay from Magz!
Bit of a Nerd moment here the reason I bet Tarawa had the large proportion of Sea Knights (not *exactly* Chinooks, the CH-47 is a larger aircraft heavy lifters as opposed to the mediums of the CH-46s but very similar profile) is that the ships don't taylor their equipment sets for the scenarios but have their 'standard' sets aboard. Tarawas and Wasps tended to be transport heavy since their main roll was as landing craft and the Harriers and Sea Cobras were the support elements. Though I'm guessing they haven't implemented amphibious operations yet since it didn't *look* like she had her well-deck selectable for things like AAA/V-7s and LCACs.
FYI the CH-46 is a Sea Knight. Used for air transport of troops.
yess magz we were waiting for this
I prefer the Formation Editor for setting up my formation. I use the relative setting, and "drag and drop" the various units where I want them relative to the guide (the lead ship of the formation). This way, they keep their position in the formation regardless of course changes, and the AI takes care of getting them from their start position to their assigned station. Of course, if the threat axis changes you'll neeed to rearrange the formation accordingly.
For defensive measures, like chaff and noise makers, the AI is pretty good at taking care of those for you automatically, even if the unit is weapons tight or hold. One less thing to click, which can matter when things get real busy.
The Harriers in this scenario have AIM-9L Sidewinders - these were the first generation all-aspect Sidewinders (and used by the British to good effect in the Falklands War). In my (so far limited) experience with the game, units directed to make an attack will maneuver as necessary (within their limits) to unmask batteries or get a good firing position.
If your ships are Weapons Tight, they will launch SAMs as necessary against inbound threats - though for less busy scenarios I tend to do it myself for fun :) But some scenarios (like the Libyan one) you'll give yourself carpal tunnel trying to handle massive attacks.
Gonna love watching your play through but this game is way beyond my talent.
Just remember alot of info about each unit is at the bottom of the screen. Alot of yourtubers don't see it. The bottom of thr screen shows what the plane is doing by the word status and the numbers and down there show how many missles or shells u have left. And if they need to be reloaded or not
Thanks Magz playing this new game. It reminds me back in 1990 going thru the straits the COB was saying"We must be near Kuwait, it smells like a fart" and he wasn't kidding.
Yeeeees! Ive been dying for Magz to play this
Glad to see you back on keyboard, mate. Love to see you play this game. But you´re right: the thousand menus are a pain in the ass.
I missed your naval content Magz, im really happy to see this
Yes! Thank you!
Yes, i was so hoping you where going to play this game!
You’re killing me mate! I’ve been stalling my clan campaign waiting for your next episode! Lol
Tomorrow for the next clan video.
You forgot you're still 'Weapons Tight' not 'Weapons Free'. That's why your Cobra flew over a speedboat without attacking it.
I knew it wouldn't be long before you started posting content for sea power, I enjoy the game but I'm eagerly awaiting a campaign or proper tutorials
Hell yeah, Mags is playing Sea Power. Was waiting for this.
Yes! I wasn't able to watch the new MW5 series as I want to go in blind in that one, this one is definitely a must-watch for me.
Good video.
You can slip the tankers through that island gap.
Magz! Beyond glad you’re playing Sea Power!
Can the Harriers make 30mm gun runs on ground/sea targets?
I soon as I saw this on steam I couldn’t wait to see a vid on it lmao
AIM-9L's ARE all aspect, however the lock range is shorter in front aspect.
So the SM1's need a line of sight from the radar to guide them in. When you first tried engaging the silkworms, they were beyond the radar horizon so that's why they couldn't engage (I think thats the blue line). good job on scouting out the silkworms though. you're the first player I've seen actually try to take them out before they fire on you. Also, consider equipping your Cobras in "anti tank" which will give them TOW guided missiles.
It's a shame they haven't got the harrier landing sequence modelled correctly. They're coming in as though they're on catobar operations, but the harrier doesn't have a hook, and I'm pretty sure the tarawa doesn't have arrestor cables.
It would be nice to see proper vtol landings.
Yay its mags!
Did you know contact faded track? It's more common than you think!
First thing I always do when loading up into a mission is put all my radars on. EMCON is only good when you are facing a force in the open ocean and/or that is either equivalent if not better than your forces. If you have 3 US warships especially the Tarawa lol up against the Iranian forces then you don't really need to hide from anything when you are very, very overpowered lmao
yes!
Como Magz / Sea Power? Day cant get better
Jeez everyone is mislabeling the poor Sea Knight as a Chinook. Wolf, then Jingles, now Magz...
Old habits die hard.
Every time I hear a dual rotor overhead when I'm near JBLM, I still think "Chinook".
Yeah I didn't even realize, should have but the brain was all tied up. As I said, still learning all the bits for this one, only had it around a week and there is a lot to pack in and very little in the way of tutorials to speed it up.
@@MagzGTV All good mate. Glad to see you in action again!
At roughly an hour in where you've launched the AH-1T Tiger flight, you've launched them with a CAS role instead of Anti-Tank it seems. While they *can* carry TOWs, they didn't, as they were carrying a fuckton of rockets.
"Com-Mid-East-For" is how you would pronounce that. "Commander, Middle East Force" according to Wikipedia.
It’s called a screen Magz… a screen
Whe. U see blue rings out Around aircrafts that's there fuel range for how fair they can go. The higher in the sky uput ur planes the more fuel they save .if u tell a aircraft to max speed that automatically drop the 2 dual fuel tanks on there wing. It's always good to have your planes loiter at 30 plus thousand feet so they can fly more gad efficiently. The bottom left of screen has a word status. That tells you what ur aircraft is doing. Examples are loitering or engaging enemy or if it's low on fuel it then say Bing or windchestor. Jist means they need to go back to helicopter
COMMIDEASTFOR - Com Mid East For, all together. Commander, Middle East Forces.
I haven't done the Tarawa version yet, but I did the original version and won easily, and then lost the Hard version (no spoilers, but got attacked by something I wasn't expecting that wasn't present, as far as I know, in the original version).
I've never played this game, but when you were trying to dumb-bomb those tiny boats with the harriers, I was just wondering why you didn't try and strafe them with those two 1,700 rpm 30mm ADENs. Maybe it's so early in game dev that they haven't added strafing with guns yet
You can rename the callsign once they are out.
Does the AI attack before you do. Does the AI hunt you down do you think. This could be a great multi player game, the AI seems a bit lacking in sensing your presence before you spot them.
I think you're trying to micro-manage everything a bit too much. When the seas skimmers start heading your way..."Weapons Free".
Also, maybe leading with your face, especially when applying SEAD ops, maybe not such a good idea?
What is the EMCON state? Alpha?
Basically no comms, no radae, no emissions... silent and stealthy
COMMIDEASTFOR would be "com mid east for"
😮 what happened to MechWarrior?
It's pronounced Com Mid East For, Command, Mid-East Forces
The AI needs a LOT of work.
Oh are you doing this?!
WE ARE FUCKING BACK
Sending in helos with no cover right into an Island with brisitling SAM, Weapons Tight all the way through! Beats any logic
"Contact faded" "Track" - "Contact faded" "Track" - "Contact faded" "Track" - "Contact faded" "Track" "New Air" - "Contact faded" "Track" - "New Air" "Contact Detected" "Contact faded" "Track"
If it continues like that, you might as well pretend you got captured by the Iranians and being subjected to sound torture...
phalanx is a LAST DITCH defense measure. definitely not the best defense. the SM1 LR are the best defense.
Yes I know, that I meant was I didn't want the ship with the last ditch defense system on the wrong side of the fleet from where the missiles will be coming from. If it came down to it I wanted it somewhere that it was in between the tankers and the missiles.
Fuck yeah the Boomer himself doing more boat stuff!
