      Right lmao. I had this video in a playlist, letting them all play thru in full screen & not reading any comments on any videos. The first time I heard it mentioned, I just kinda chuckled and scoffed. Once I realized it kept being repeated, I knew I had to stop and read these comments 😂
      Mind you, this was the reaction the that blessed innocence of an assumption from me, as an American who hasn't even ever been to England specially, though have been to France, the other assumption. I think it's more of a mental thing that radiates, more than blatant/verbal or physical insults like the bird all the time for anything at all. Almost makes it lose its offense, I felt The Sting of it all more in France lol.

      it's not... trust me it's not AT ALL! how can you live in peace with countries like: North Korea? Saudi Arabia? Afghanistan? You hippies think you live with peace with them and then they stab you in the back. Live in peace with countries that want it too but don't forget to fight against your enemies.

    • @BeautyTheRagDoll
      @BeautyTheRagDoll 8 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      seriously did you have to put this on here? John Lennon once said imagine all the people living life in peace. Humanity makes war over silly things like opinions or faith. No one race is perfect and unless you're a Nazi maybe you should give them all a chance. Not ALL North Korean people are bad they just have strict government and laws. Same goes for most countries it isn't the mass populous that is ill willed it is the governing body. There's nothing hippie about wanting to respect life and individuality. It's actually intellect to learn and grow from diversity.

    • @sexyadolf6136
      @sexyadolf6136 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You always see this connection between the UK and being a gentleman made by Japanese people, whereas modern English people probably use some of the most offensive vulgar and language on the planet. Where does this stereotyping come from? Is it a holdover from the Meiji restoration when European countries like France and Britain were admired and used as a model of what a 'modern' country should look like?

In that video he said that he was told to quit his part-time job and go back to his country because the japanese didn't really like the people of the country which he came from. He also read some of the comments on the internet which were written by foreigners including the japanese and badmouth about his nation and its people ( their inteligent, height, smell, violate,...). He said he was shocked about how many people assumed that his country was bad without even really know a little about the country. I was pretty shock as also because I was always love and respect the japanese culture. But then I had a second though, the man or some people said so didn't mean that is real because after that the youtuber said he was cheered up and apologized by other japanese after hearing the problem, and he also said that he had great experience with his friends and girlfriend (who were also japanese) and they had great experience when being with him too. He ended saying that he had stopped working a that foodstall and he was sad but he didn't think japanese people were really like what the man ment because he was helped by a japanese that day; and because he told himself not to assume other people just because of a person ar something you might had heard when you haven't know anything about it.

      Hate to be a pessimist, but the politeness isn't always that sincere, it comes natural like a reflex. Dont be naïve to assume that a polite Japanese person is also a person who thinks positively about you. On top of that there are plenty of Japanese who don't like foreigners. I've experienced it myself as well, especially at small shops. A small granny shopowner who literally blocked the entrance and wouldn't allow me in xD I was laughing my ass off and enjoyed their creative ways to discrimate me.

      Here here! As an Argentinian , we also disagree. Today is my country's Independence Day. One of our favourite stories (we learn it in elementary school) is when England came through the port to conquer us -the year before they were stoped before they got to us by the uruguayans- and while the men fought the women of Buenos Aires started to throw boiling water from the windows to the soldiers. They left. We won.

      +Repo Same here! (The shoes part not the Netherlands one)In fact when relatives or family friends come at your home they take their shoes off but its considered rude to let them do this since it basically is translated as "you are getting my house dirty, disturbing and annoying me, get out!" and the funny part is that its also rude to enter a house with your shoes on so there is a little imposted scene between the guest and the host when they both insist on doing the opposite actions and it always ends up by finally taking the shoes off and wearing some warm slippers, which were originally bought to be worn by guests. In a normal 4 people family the shoe cabbinet (right word?) has like 10 pairs of slippers inside because here guests almost always come in groups of 4 or 6.

    I’m back to the video that made me love this channel so much. Really shows how raw and what it really feels like to be and live in Japan. Unlike all other youtuber video that only gives a dreamy and unrealistic everyday cheerful environment. With the noisy wind and sound of the leaves and the red bricks as background, really shows that not everyday you’ll get to have the most fitting background music while you’re walking down the streets of japan. That is the perfect world that we are actually living in.

      cassiemichelle03 I agree on a general note, my parents went to France one time for a week, and they couldn't say they were from Seattle, Washington because of that murder trial or whatever is going on over in France, and if they had said that's where they were from they'd've gotten quite the ugly treatment. As it was, they got a lot of rude people just because they were American and people stereotyping them, despite my parents being some of the nicest people around.

    • @kazimo7801
      @kazimo7801 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      cassiemichelle03 They really dislike those who aren't French, just Americans in general. The French have never been fond of Americans, which you can't blame them. Most countries aren't fond of Americans because of how rude some Americans are when going to other countries. It unfortunately gives any good Americans a bad rep. People have to remember that they represent their country when they go to visit foreign places.

      Im japanese and i will say we like the happy but polite types who know the term restraint of white foreigners, you know the ones who give it there best to learn the culture? The ones who go there and expect to be treated like guests, try and peacock themselves around and have everyone else adapt to them are the ones who get snubbed. It also helps that you have a japanese friend. To us you look exotic but unapproachable, but with a japanese friend talking and walking with you it makes you look approachable but in a way that we really want to know your story. Also the best way to learn japanese is by using it everyday, i have my family here so japanese is all we speak to each other, but my parents will tell you that since it's been a while since they went to a all japanese enviroment, they have started to forget a few japanese things (or old age lol).

I think it’s only right to learn your language before arriving. Your culture is so beautiful a lot of other cultures could benefit if we learnt by yours. Your so welcoming and polite. As a redditor this video made me very happy because I am an avid anime enthusiast and would like to move to Japan (Nippon for you unenlightened westerners) someday. This is because after coming to reddit I have been enlightened by my own intelligence and now I see the destruction that christian fundies have brought to the world and especially in the US, for example every sunday my mother forces me to go to church even though I dont want to because I would rather spend my time on intellectual pursuits such as redditing instead of praising "god" or whatever.

    America comes off as rude to other countries because we have less social elitism and less social conservatism compared to a lot of other countries. It's a lot more free form as to what the social rulings of a specific situation are. There aren't as many expectations as to how to behave to certain people or how to behave in certain places, you kind of have to grasp a vibe of each encounter or area you are in. This fact throws a lot of people who aren't used to it off, and they view it as rude because of their perspective.
    And to all the weeaboos who think Japan is this perfect beautiful country where everything is sunshine and rainbows, you are wrong. Japan is extremely xenophobic and conservative when it comes to viewing social values and viewing foreigners.

    It kind of made me a little bit upset how they called England the "gentleman" people, and they kind of hated on America. If anything, now and days it seems that England is more or less America- of course not food wise though haha.

    • @ianflores8372
      @ianflores8372 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That doesn't have anything to do with what I'm talking about. I'm talking about England, not Japan. Does that mean that England wouldn't think that Japan is rude or vice-versa? You only made a one-sided statement.

    • @onur8033
      @onur8033 10 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Couldn't agree more, Ian. In my business life, private life, academic life I've met quite a good amount of British people. Can't say "They are rude as hell!" yet they were not any more polite than people from lots of other countries. Most of the teens can be considered rude even.

    • @SuperMechaTiger
      @SuperMechaTiger 10 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Maybe it's just the area I live in (wealthy-ish town in the south of England a good distance away from London) but I have to disagree.
      A considerable amount of American tourists I've encountered are fairly ignorant of common public etiquette (not saying thank you after riding a bus, talking especially loud, ignoring unspoken "turn" rules etc). As strange as it sounds, it's also due to how warm and friendly most of them try to be towards strangers which really weirds out a lot of people I know; public here outside of pubs and nightlife tends to be a lot more impersonal until you actually get to know somebody. These observations I've had are also pretty consistent with the American tourists I've met outside my country, they still really irk me.
      Anyway, I should note that I don't hate all Americans. Of course, I know a large enough number of them to know that they're not all rude as well as there being a few tourists out there who know the deal however, due to my generally negative experience, whenever I meet one out on the street I automatically assume the worst.
      Nothing personal, I expect a lot of people feel similarly about me in their country because of the various British tourist stereotypes.

    • @ianflores8372
      @ianflores8372 10 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      See, but you're missing the point too. It's how Japan views us- Americans and UK. America and UK might view each other differently, but America as a whole isn't impolite to each other and England as a whole isn't nice to each other. America and England of course have there differences, but for a Japanese to automatically assume based on the minority or some movies is not good.

      Same here in the US. I'm an art student and so many of my classmates are rude. After an assignment my teacher will show everyone's work and critique. During the critique, it's obviously rude to be doing anything other than looking at everyone's work and listening to what he's saying so we can avoid the same errors in our work. The larger portion of our class either draws, listens to music, or talks during the critique. The whole semester really hasn't been a good one. 90% of our class didn't turn in multiple assignments or were late every time. I was late once which I'm still ashamed of, but wasn't because I didn't do it, I just forgot it at home. Forgot to put it on my flash drive, was in a rush to make it to class on time. But our professor is sort of strict and doesn't like hearing excuses so I couldn't defend myself lol.

      Being an exchange student and traveling to Japan multiple times, (I also speak Japanese) I can say that schools in Japan are a lot more focused and the students respect their teachers (well that's most of Japan anyways) . In America, schools are a lot more social and there is a mix of types of students. Japan's culture is a lot more about blending in whereas America is more about individuality

    They talk a lot about America... You never really hear "Canada" in any foreign statements, do you? Canada is said to be fairly polite, and it's true, at least where I am concerned. I say "sorry" for tiny things, like accidentally bumping into someone. I don't cuss at my parents, and I never have. And my parents taught me to respect elders... Which is part of my Asian culture... Whoops.
    But yeah, no one abroad really cares about Canada. TT^TT

      I think it's to do with media exposure. Everything about the US; music, film, tv, government, politics, etc. is heavily documented in other countries. You would have to figure out how much Canadian media exposure the Japanese receive. And if they hear a Canadian speak how many think it's an American (US)... I honestly can't tell the difference between a Canadian and American accent unless I pick up certain words spoken. And not just the word "about" lol

    To the guy who said, "The world is all one. Let's be friends!" I coudn't agree more my friend. We should all get to know each other since we live on the same planet and respect each other as well as our differences. greetings from the U.S :)

    What about Canadians? ;) guess nobody knows about the desolate land mass that is the second largest country in the world (geographically) lol. Canadians are some of the nicest people when it comes to foreigners.

      RobertMuldooJP no they are radically different. basically no Americans would appreciate being called Canadians and the inverse is also true

      Yeah, as a Canadian I guess I would hate being called American. For some reason nearly every other country despises Americans, but I guess Japan is an exception lol. Not that I hate Americans, but being associated with a widely disliked country to outsiders is not a good image

      Eh...travelling abroad, I wouldn't mind if someone lumped me in with Canada. I think our country's 2 cultures are pretty similar....but that's just me

    the reason the guys are having a hard time responding is because they are talking to an attractive woman doing the interviewing.....they are afraid of embarrassing themselves, its a common thing i've noticed for most guys let alone Japanese guys. if this was jun doing the interview, you would get different responses from the same people.
