Baceprot - c in Bahasa Indonesia is pronounced like ch. It begins like batchelor and the end rhymes with brought. The young women are Marsya (guitarist and vocalist), Sitti (drummer) and Widi (bassist). Marsya is pronounced Marsha (sy is the Indonesian spelling for sh). I think they were born in 2000, 2000 and 2001, respectively. They grew up in a small farming town (Singajaya) in Garut regency in the province of West Java, several hours drive from Jakarta. They formed a band in 2014 in junior high school under the leadership of the school guidance counselor, Abah Erza. They heard SoaD's Toxicity on Abah Erza's laptop and instantly fell in love with it. One of their covers (of an RAtM or SoaD tune, I forget which) went viral and brought them a lot of publicity. By 2017 they were performing on national television in Indonesia. In 2018, while still in high school, they released their first single and music video: School Revolution. This was followed by music videos for God Allow Me (Please) to Play Music, [Not] Public Property and PMS (Perempuan Merdeka Seutuhnya). They toured Europe in 2021, played Wacken in 2022, toured Americe in 2023 and are about to play at Glastonbury in the UK. Their most popular covers are of Metallica's Enter Sandman and RaTM's Killing in the Name, performed at Transmusicales de Rennes and of the Beastie Boys' Sabotage, performed at the Pasiwali festival in Taiwan.
