  • Old Jack's Bones is the title track off the Hillbilly Goat's latest release (2018) - Written by B & M Wearne
This is an unofficial clip put together as part of a series, "Live at the J"
Filmed at The J, Noosa by Misha Robb-Maas Productions
Footage of Jack filmed by Maddie Catania @ BMUP7
Recorded by Nigel Pegrum of Pegasus Studios, Cairns Australia
    Distributed by MGM
Clip edited by Jacinta Simons (on fiddle)
"We wrote this song in honour of our good friend Jack Ryle, a ringer from Cape York who taught Goat Girl to play double bones back in 2011. Over a drink at the Lions Den Hotel he said “Love, all my mates are dropping off the perch and I need someone to carry on my trade”. The rhyme he sings to help teach the rhythm is “down in the cellar where she keeps the cider, I once saw a cockroach try to ride a spider”. 50 years on the bones - what a legend! ... love you Jack!"

Such a great performance and story of the double bones and Jack Ryle. It certainly brought me undone. Sadly, The Lions Den Hotel may have been flooded a few days ago. Hope to see you for the first time in April 2024. ;)
