Hey guys! I Apologize if you've already seen this video. It was previously posted attached to a giveaway ... I wanted to have it posted in the "Quick Tips" segment of the channel 😇

Funny story - Two guys I worked with were sent up to some work on the top of some shelving, so they used a scissor lift to get up top.
One guy got out onto the shelf but there is no place on the shelf to hook on to so he kept his safety line attached the lift.
The guy still in the lift needed to go back down to get something so down he went.
The guy on the shelf had his back turned and didn't realize the lift was going down until his safety line yanked him off the shelf.
Somehow he missed the basket but fortunately his safety line caught him just as his feet hit the ground so he didn't even get hurt.
The guy in the lift hadn't realized what had happened so he was pretty surprised to see the the guy he thought he had left up on the shelf, now climbing up into the basket looking to to kick his ass.

Wow that's a close call eh! It's one of things ... He did right in staying attached but after seeing that happen it quickly shows why most regulations don't allow climbing outside of an Ariel device. If they removed the key, it may have helped the situation tho too. Glad nobody got hurt! It's crazy how quick and easy this stuff can happen!

Not long after I started doing tree work, I was on spurs 100 feet up a big fir tree shaving it on the way up and topping it, and I cut a large limb off, and it swung way back and flipped and met the rope I was taking up to pull the top away from the house, and as it fell it rotated and the rope ended up making one complete spiral around the limb, but never snagged or pulled tight, and I just watched helplessly as it fell, because the rope was clipped to my climbing belt...
It got to the ground with never a tug, but I had to wait for my ground guy to get it off the rope before I could climb higher lol
After that I was more careful to keep the ropes on the opposite side of the tree, and against the trunk lol
This hook would be even safer!

If I'm from New York and want to go through an apprenticeship program in Canada then eventually come back to New York would everything transfer? I guess I'm asking if a journeyman card is good cross country? Love the videos thank you!!

That pole looks like swiss cheese! How many times can a pole be climbed before it's so beat up that it needs to be replaced? What's the lifespan of an average pole in our lovely Canadian climate?

Hey thanks Shaun! Have you checked out the "being a lineman" series on the channel? They're typically longer videos and show actual response to trouble calls.
Love hearing that the videos are helping and promoting safe work!
      Cheers! 👊🤝
