I use bedmax shaving (horse ones) for my horses and donkeys as well as the piggies out door run. They contain no dust (as Mickey my pony has a respiratory problem) and don't smell at all! They are more like wood chips though as and larger in size to wood shaving and work really well for me. But I put hay over the top of the chips for the piggies :) xx

I use shavings around and in my two rabbits litter tray simply because it's easy to clean for any accidents as the little rabbit isn't quite as good with the litter training 😟, but as soon as possible my rabbits will be on full fleece like the rest of their hutch, this video was so informative defiantly rethinking my choices of bedding!

Hutch? Is the hutch big? If not do they get run around space, i have two guinea pigs and when i first got them i got them a hutch then in winter we bought a store bought cage for when there inside, but i did al my research and I realised how much space they need! Right now im in the process of building/ re doing a shed to free roam my guinea pigs in the bottom of the shed, storage on the top floor, i was just going to recommend if you maybe give them more than a hutch.. i like to help others out even if i am trying to do the best for all my animals xox

I have two guinea pigs that get along quite well. They have a cage that is a suitable size. There is a mat covering most of the cage. It is not vary absorbent but, my guinea pigs are for the most part litter trained. Their cage has a small ramp leading to a sectioned off area that has paper bedding inside that I replace once a week. A wipe down and sweep up any poo or pee every day on the mat. I find that works best for my pigs. I only have two pigs though so I can see why other options would be better if you have more than two guinea pigs.

i used to use fleece for my 5 female rats. then they got to the age where they wanted to just nest all the time and kept shredding all the fleece within a day. Now i use a big bale of shredded cardboard. They love it and its easy to clean up and its DUST FREE :) THATS IMPORTANT WITH RATS! :) very cheap to buy too x

we have done fleece before for about 6 months. if you are going that route make sure you are devoted to keeping it clean and have plenty of extras while you washdry etc. We are currently doing wood shavings for 6 months now and had no idea it was bad but I've always felt the dust all over my face. I feel terrible now specially because we just lost our out little Daisy two weeks ago of unknown cause she was laying one morning. It was and still is extremely sad. We we have two more piggies and I will go out and buy the safe bedding for them. thank you for these videos.

My bunnies have wood shavings but only in a small bit and half the time it's covered in hay and straw, I think wood shavings and hay and straw r good beddings but as long as ur pets have some where else to go to get away from it when they need fresh air

Very honest and helpful review. I am currently using the paper-like bedding (I'm honestly not sure what it's called but its super soft) from the pet store with no problems. It is absorbent, doesn't smell fast and my bunny has enough grip to run around. I am as always looking for other options thought as I want my bunny to have a great life.

Hi Erin! I am currently using wood shavings for my guinea pig but after watching this I feel like using fleece would be better and also easier to clean because it is an absolute nightmare cleaning out all of that soggy wood shavings every week.I just have a few questions to ask before changing the bedding and it will be really helpful if you could answer them
    1. How do you set up fleece when you first buy it?
    2. Where do you get your fleece from?
    3. Can I use fleece for an outdoor piggy?
    4. How do I know if my fleece is ready to use on my guinea pig?
If you have read my comment all the way down to here thank you I really appreciate it😘😘😘have a wonderful day!🌈🌈🌈

I use Aspen wood shavings, purely because it is a cheaper option and hadn't given me too many problems. The only issue is that when I'm cleaning out my rabbit it's almost like it doubles to aroma and I have to sit down ever 5 minutes because of breathing, and I don't normally have problems with that. Great Vid! Binge watching your videos 😂

Thanks so much for your lovely and very informative post! I adopted my first piggies 3 months ago and I've been using towels and fleeces. I like using them but the big downside is the amount of washing and drying of course, unfortunately! I do use natural soap nuts with a decent dollop of white vinegar, and they clean up very well. I am now however going to try either Ambios or easibedding ... our rescue/adopted chooks and turkeys use the easibed which I love, and I certainly think they do too. 1 of the pairs of piggies are used to previously being on easibed so I assume it would be soft enough for them, but do wonder if Ambios would be better. Thank you again.

    Great little video!
To be honest ive used dust extracted shavings for ages now and never had any issues. I always spot clean daily so it never gets bad and with the rabbits I only use it for an absorbent layer in litter trays and always put hay on top so there never just sitting in it. It's also very cost effective and a bale lasts about 2 months for my 5 rabbits and 2 pigs.
I will however do a little more research into megazorb now and see if it may ever work for me so thanks.

Would fleece be ok to use in an outdoor hutch in the summer or would it just make the piggies even hotter? I do use ice packs though so don't worry

I just have a question on aubiose - is it good for tunnelling, for gerbils, or would you recommend mixing with something? Thanks :)

I've just started using it so I don't know just yet, but it's probably better mixed with hay :)

what if I use pine pellets for my rabbits litter box? The rest of his area is fleece, only his litter box has pine pellets. they're not shavings it's like little pellets, I get like no dust and it doesn't hurt to smell it. I just want to know your opinion.

Have them other things they can chew on, hay is the best bet, if you already have them hay all the time, give them some wooden chew toys.

Also for my Hamsters I just use wood shavings with some shredded paper bedding and some Soft n Safe bedding in the bedroom areas. Is this safe?

    • @cioccolatalover9295
      @cioccolatalover9295 4 ปีที่แล้ว

What kind of wood? If it's Aspen it should be alright. Soft n safe is cotton? If so it's really dangerous! Use just some shadered plain paper tissues for nesting!

I was wondering, my guinea pig thinks my hands are food. I tap her nose to stop, if she does not stop I tap harder. Then she stops and will go away and then come back and do the same thing again . how do I get my guinea pig to stop?( I don't think it is my soap and I don't have any food on my hands.)
