Hi John, I had found them a year ago but just now decided to get some. I would agree that they do add depth to a scene especially when mixed in with plastic buildings……John
Hi JD, The flats add some depth to scenes and are definitely a good item for addition to any layout. I had found them about a year ago but just recently decided to get some and will probably get some more……John
Hi Digger, Thank you for your comments. I thought that I would try some so the first couple came just before Christmas and the after I saw them I just had to get some more. I plan on getting some additional ones and moving some of the earlier ones around a bit….John
Very nice. I made my own by color printing building faces that I found on line and gluing them to 1/4" and 1/2" black foam board. I got the idea from Mike Fifer as I found the cost of purchased flats builds up in a hurry.
Hi Ron, Thank you for watching and your comments. I do agree with how you did your flats. I could have 3D printed some myself but then I would have had to paint them so buying them ready to go was easier at the time…..John
Thank you for your comments. The flats along the back wall are all that can go there as there is only 1/4 inch from the concrete wall to the sheetrock which is sufficient for a single flat. I do however have room on both side walls to add some behind the 3D printed buildings…..John
Hi John everything looks great i have a few of the trackside flats also that I brought from eBay a year ago but I’m not so sure if I’m going to use them at least not yet because they just don’t fit my layout. They are cool 😎 though 😀
Print out a building/3 gang outlet cover. That way the cover and switches look like a building, I painted my switch covers that are in the way blue to match the background.
Hi Eric, Thanks for the ideas but the building flats are not necessarily in their final locations. Although since I now have more of the blue wall paint, I might just paint the switch cover blue……John
Hey Joe, Did you happen to see the wiring under the layout? If so, I think that there is at least 1/4 mile or so of wiring even without signals and only about 10% of the 98 turnouts having electronic control….John
Nice upload. Like it very much. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for your comments…….John
@@tanzj Thanks very much for replying to my comment. More uploads in 2022 to look out for and supporting my channel..Take Care & Stay Safe.

Those flats really look good, and really look at home on your backdrop. Nicely done john! Thanks for sharing where you got them! Take care!
Thank you Ian. I really like that they come pre-mounted on the foam board rather than having to do that myself….John
@@tanzj that is nice when they're on foam already.
looking good John. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Joe…..
The flats look good John. I've been thinking about getting some.

I have one of those flats. They are nice. But wow, I didn't know your layout was so big!! ...Claude
Hi Claude, Thanks for watching and your comments. Sometimes I think that I made the layout too big. It is 15’ x 25’ …….John
Nice update...backdrop building look great
Thank you Duane, I appreciate your comments….John
Really like those building flats, will check them out. Bob
Hi Bob, They are fairly inexpensive and with free shipping. I will be getting some more myself…..John

The building backdrops look good on the layout John .....
Hi Ron, Thanks for your comments…….John
it is a good way to build a background; may I suggest several layers to figure buildings in the back of the background

Hi, His web site is tracksideflats.com and you can also find him on eBay with a search for trackside flats….John
