The Tool Bear from Den of Tools channel contacted engineers from some tool companies and they told him that backing the chuck up a click does NOT lock it in. It takes it out of the notch and will let it eventually loosen up as you use it. AVE also did a video on it and he said the same thing. Just a heads up.

One of the YTers who made this claim (the one featured in AvE's video) has also published a correction/retraction video:
      th-cam.com/video/yH11SnnbS84/w-d-xo.html
In his defense, he tried to do his due diligence and many of the tool mfr reps actually confirmed the claim. For this latest video he contacted the *chuck* manufacturers, who were responsive and quite definitively set the record straight.

I have two 1-2-3's but no holes. Your video gave me the idea of just clamping one with a clamp (in any direction), and thus not worrying about the height of my fence. Also if any worry about slipping, could glue a bit of friction tape to both pieces. Every time I watch a video I learn something, even if it's not to make an exact replicate. Love the channel!

Screams in Katz-Moses, lol. I was considering getting another one of his stop blocks to make it easy to work with some projects, but having a "second" no-feflection block that reuses something I already have, is even better. So glad I bought the 1-2-3 blocks with holes in them, vs. the solid ones, now.

With the 1-2-3 block which you are using, you are not limited by the 3" depth. You have plenty of other holes to use. You can mount a face plate to the right (as looking down as it is mounted). Come through the left using two of the holes to secure the face plate. Use a 1/4" thick piece, cut to 1" x ? whatever length (depth) you need. Drill and tap the 1/4" to receive the mounting bolts. Cut the mounting bolts flush. The aluminum stock can be cut using woodworking tools. Just go slow. So, the final face plate (facing the work piece to be cut) would be 1/4" x 1" x ? desired length (depth) to fit your fence.
Drill and tap at least four (4) holes in the face plate, you can have some up and down adjustability👍😎😀

@@731Woodworks A manual is usually a kind of booklet that you hold in your hand, read it, and then try to flip the content to your head. As our heads are already full (of sawdust) we don't even try to read it. In the best case we put it aside, in the worst case it's ending up as a fire starter for our wood stove.

if you instead used the block of wood as the stop with the 1-2-3 on the outside of the sled then you don't need to worry about the fence height as you can cut the block to be as tall as your fence instead.

@@731Woodworks Not turning it back would also work on yours. Sorry bro. Love the 1-2-3 block stop block, but the chuck thing is thoroughly debunked internet BS.
Turning back just loosens the chuck 1 click. It's fine providing you initially tightened the chuck enough that loosening it 1 click doesn't affect the tension enough for the chuck to lose grip. Tighten it just enough to grip the bit then turn it back and see what happens. Loosening cannot improve retention.
