Hello and thanks for the videos. Question How do I test my protection groups/recovery plan with the live vm I have to see if it works with out it interrupting live production?
Hello. Just that. When you run the recovery program select Test and it will create a snapshot of the VM(s) on the recovery site and place them on the Test network you specified. Your production VM's will not be shutdown.. Make sure your Test network is isolated so it does not conflict with your production network. Have a great day
Take a look at time 21:14 in this video, I explain what needs to be done.. th-cam.com/video/ZBOiSAKCPxs/w-d-xo.html How many VM's do you need to test simultaneously? Are they are different portgroups / VLAN's? if these VM's startup at the recovery site will is cause a conflict with your production site. These are questions you need to know. Hope this helps..
Also we have Dell Me5024 storage device Shared SAN at both site a and b they are replicating from the devices so we wont need to do array setup correct?
If replication has been setup for the luns on the arrays, no you won;t have to worry about it. You will need to talk to the person that set it up.. You will need to install the SRA (Storage Replication Adapter) for it on both SRM sites. www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-ca/powervault-me5024/me5_series_sra_ug/installing-and-configuring-the-sra?guid=guid-39c3f43e-e8bc-481f-b811-0704b907f675&lang=en-us
Sorry no. Array based replication is only available on Physical Arrays that support it.. Theo only way to do replication with vSAN is to use vSphere S/W Replication like I did in the video.. Have a good one.
If your site A main site goes down and all goes over to site b and is running then reprotect wont work right? Also is there a way to get this so if there is a disaster you can only do a one click and all starts the process?
To do a re protect, there must be a good site to re-protect to. So if Site A goes down, and you fail over to Site B. You must fix Site A then do a reprotect. You can create a recover plan that will fail over all VM's if you like.. I would be cautios about that. You may create a boot storm, but if deplends on how many VM's are failing over and the physical resources you are failing over to.. Have a good one.
Watched all videos of the SRM series. Gained lots of knowledge. Thank You.
You are welcome. Have a great day
Thanks for your excellent content 🎉❤

@@TechUnGlued Thank you do I need to create another vlan and vmnic for the test network or use the default one that is already created?

I have a question,Is it possible to use vsan in hardware replication stretch storage?
