- The world reacted to the election of Donald Trump as the US president on Wednesday.
Trump will return to the White House after claiming victory in one of the most bitterly contested presidential elections in the history of the United States.

Trump surpassed the necessary 270 electoral college votes on Wednesday morning to defeat Kamala Harris, his Democratic rival, and deny the country its first female president.
His path back to the Oval Office became clear after a win in the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania before Wisconsin sealed the deal. Three of the seven swing states - Michigan, Nevada and Arizona - have not yet been called but are leaning Republican. If Trump is confirmed the winner, he will have swept all seven battleground states.
Trump was also on track to win the national popular vote, the first time a Republican has done so since George W Bush in 2004.

You are not protecting anyone. I have no clue who tells you that nonsense. The USA spends more on the military than other NATO members, not because it protects everyone, but because it starts wars all over the world.
The U.K already spends 2.33% of its GDP into NATO and are trying to increase it to 2.5%. The agreement only calls for 2% of a member's GDP to be allocated into defence. By no means am I saying NATO members shouldn't be contributing their fair share. I am just saying you should look at the 10 or so countries that don't meet the agreed amount. You probably already have looked, but I advise reviewing the 2023 Vilnius summit and the 2014 Wales summit for more on NATO funding
