as a Canadian, i totally underestimated how much Democratic voters disliked Kamala Harris. The media did a poor job of reporting on this sentiment. big surprise, you can't trust global, cbc or ctv.
yeah, Kamala replacing biden after the primary was really a bad move. they needed biden to drop earlier to give the replacement more legitimacy, and they needed a candidate that wasn't associated with the last 4 years to pull right leaning voters. they got neither a legitimate nor baggage free candidate. thats a big part of what lost them the election
Correct me if I am wrong, but I feel like Kamala didn't have much base of actual supporters of her to begin with. Yes, there are pently of people who voted for her because she is a Democrat, but I just feel like there not are many people voting for her because she is Kamala Harris. It also seems like a lot of her campaign was just "Donald Trump is bad". Just my 2cents.
That’s valid. She had no base of support. Her entire campaign was trying to cozy up to Trump’s base while ignoring her own. She came out as a progressive with the Wallz pick. But after that has not done a single progressive thing, focusing on center right policies. So all her initial momentum died down instantly leaving her with no base of support. Like, she tried the “though on immigration” thing. But like, the left hates that, and right would always pick the dude that’s had that opinion since 2016. So who was this for?
@@hiiamelecktro4985 She wasn't tough on immigration at all anyway. The border has been wide open all this time, we saw all the people crossing it. The left is even starting to reach a limit. Harris denied she was the border 'czar', despite us having the receipts that she indeed was named in charge. And you know what? She was so absent from the job that it might as well be true.
Correct. Trump was a former president with die hard supporters since at least 2016. Her logic was "well if they don't want Trump they'll vote for me" not realizing that for those leaning left, the dems already disappointed them(through Biden).
She kind of shot herself in the foot. Saying things like “we’re going to fix everything” with a lot of people asking back “why aren’t you fixing things now?”
At the same time though, is that any different from the other guy? We have experience with him being making big sweeping promises with no follow through. Harris would have at least been a blank slate
Why hasn't Biden attempted to legalize abortion nationally for the last 3 years since RoeVWade was overturned? Abortion was liberal women's top voting priority according to some statistics.
Why did minorities vote for Trump? Because they are more likely to live in low socio-economic areas and are most impacted by increases in the cost of living. They live in the US, have citizenship (as evidenced by the fact they have a vote), and don't really care if people in the countries they came from can now join them. They care about lowering their household costs and being able to heat their homes. As for the "economy is doing well", like the UK, this hides the fact that the gap between those that have and those that have not has grown. People at the lower end are suffering more. Having people in the Democrats tell them "all is good", is BS to them.
@@tomaburque Exactly, thank you for saying this. People don't understand how horrible tariffs are for economies and don't realize that just because the stock market is doing good, that doesn't mean the economy is doing good. They operate on different wavelengths, and the stock market booming can mean a great economy but it can also mean a failing economy in the future.
@@tomaburque The issue when people say the economy is doing well is the measures used. In both the UK and the US that widening gap between the haves and have not has just shifted wealth. The spending power of the lower thirds has continually decreased. By no means am I saying Trump has any ability to improve the lives of those people, or any interest in doing it. But he appealed to them in a clearer more simplistic way, while Harris faced two issues, firstly she was seen as part of the government that was causing the pain, and two she was saying everything was fine.
@@ThootenTootinTabootin Donald kept insulting Kamala on literally every convention he did while Kamala didnt even mention him in her final speech and talking more policies in general
@@BladerMio Yeah but normal people aren’t watching conventions, but they see the 30 million ads on every social media site and TV going at trump, many of which are incredibly misleading or just buying into childish hysteria
No, she talked a lot about her policies. It's more like the average voter didn't think it was important to learn the policies of the candidates before voting. Wow, so many people are offended. I am not a democrat. Not even an American. Only someone interested in politics. To clarify, I am not making any analysis of why Kamala lost. I am simply replying to a comment which talks about Kamala not talking about her politics. And I know a lot of policies she promised because I kept up with things and actually listened to her. Meaning that yes, if you are someone who says you are not aware about her policies, you are the one at fault. How do you even vote before learning such an important information?
Almost all minorities are more conservative on average than the general populace. If there is no stigma for them to vote for republicans then they are potentially a perfect fit and a shift in voting patterns seen only once in a generation
"Seen only once in a generation" I'm sorry but this is the norm now, most migrants vote Democrat first time out of gratitude to them but as they stay in the US they realise their values align more with Republicans. This isn't a one off thing, it's the norm now. I'd like to see how Democrats deal with migration now it doesn't benefit them as much as they thought.
Black people agree more with America is the greatest country in the world than white liberals, and Hispanic are more conservative on immigration. 😂😂😂😂 White liberals own the news but barely make a dent in America's demographic 😂😂
Guys....inflation fell. That means that they merely stopped going up. That doesn't mean the prices went down. We are still struggling at the grocery store.
@tamberlame27 This is copied and pasted from Banco de España. Let us consider how deflation works: if you expect the price of a product - such as a car or a television - to decrease, you will delay the purchase until the price falls. If the belief that prices are going to fall persists over time and all consumers postpone their purchase decisions, companies will have to cut their prices due to the lack of sales. In addition, lower prices mean lower profits, which will force companies to reduce costs. They will therefore tend to lower employee wages or even lay off staff, thus driving up unemployment. Unlike inflation, deflation makes it harder to repay debts because it increases the real debt burden (i.e. the value of debt in terms of the consumption basket). This could result in households and firms being unable to meet their payment obligations.
@@1370802Basic necessities such as groceries definitely won’t have any delay in being bought however. Also, you’re assuming high information among consumers but in reality, most consumers don’t notice minor shifts in prices - unlike the drastic increase in inflation post covid
The economy might do well on paper but that doesn’t mean that people are doing well financially. The average person only sees that they are making less money while groceries and gas are getting more expensive.
Worth remembering that Harris was just a terrible candidate too. She was so unpopular even in the Democrat base that she dropped out of the 2020 primary before the first caucus.
@@TheErolind The american left is in this place where they think they can just gaslight everyone into believing anything, and if they just block mute and ban anyone that doesn't get on board, those people stop existing. But in reality, everyone else can see their delusions for what they are.
Speaking as an American here who lives in New York. I had to pause the video at the point where you're talking about America's reduction of inflation and impressive gdp and productivity numbers. All of those gains are going to companies and the top 1%. The living standard in America has declined for the average citizen. Some people have found it too expensive to even live. These are people with no recreational budget. All they're trying to do is afford rent, food, and child care. When their take-home pay does not cover those three things, it doesn't matter what the US GDP is. They're going to vote out of protest. To them Trump is punishment to the system. To the people who have claimed to represent them but have given them nothing to show for their vote.
Yup, this TLDR though. The channel is plainly more enamored with their own bizarre narratives than the difference in meaning between total GDP and median income per capita.
But these problems are present everywhere in the world. We are all struggling post-covid. Many countries are struggling even more than US (UK, Germany, China), some are collapsing (Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Egypt). It is stupid to blame the wordwide economic problems on Biden and vote Trump based on it. Biden is not responsible for the problems and Trump will make them worse (his tarrifs will definitelly rise infation).
The problem is Americans have chosen to be blind to the state of the global economic. USA is during much better than the rest of the word inflation-wise and growth-wise, but this the context Americans are blind to. They only consider local factors while living in global word. Current infation and other economic problems are caused by covid and Putin's invasion to Ukraine, but American voters blame it on the president.
"While Harris improved on Biden's numbers..." Brother, she did not outperform Biden in a SINGLE COUNTY. Not one in the entire country. That is extremely sad. I guess installing a candidate that didn't win any delegates the honest way wasn't the best strategy. XD
This is stupid. Just looking at Georgia, most Atlanta metro counties shifted further democrat. Yeah an overwhelming number of counties nationwide, even the ones where people actually live, shifted republican, but your statement is factually false and unworthy of the dumb confidence indicated by your all caps.
@비옌이 literally watch the CNN clip. They made an error and checked states initially (she did not outperform Biden in a SINGLE STATE by 3% or more), but when they checked counties like they intended there were a mere 58 counties. Trump still leads by 4M votes, so at this point it would take literally every remaining vote from California (est. 6 million) to flip the popular vote in her favor with a barely comfortable margin of 2 million votes.

Please STOP using the word “inflation” to describe “prices”. Americans generally do not understand the concept of inflation rates but they can clearly compare pricing on everyday items and services. Economists and policymakers can say “Inflation is down” meanwhile consumers/voters are questioning “Why are prices still so high then?” This is the disconnect in American economic discussions.
very good point. inflation and prices are two different things, and are widely conflated in news media. The US voter still sees prices being anywhere from 1.5x to 4x as high as they were pre-covid and that breeds distrust when the media says that inflation is low. "bullshit. im still paying $4+ for a gallon of gas! it was $1.40 4 years ago"
What does being American have to do with understanding economics or not? Americans know very well that the media lies by omission. They tell you inflation is down while prices are going up. Both are called inflation. One is the rate of inflation and the other is total inflation. The media talks about the rate while purposely ignoring the total because they are corrupt and in the tank for the Dems.

Trump won close to the 74.25m votes from 2024, while Harris got likely (assuming 70m votes after CA counts come in) way below the 81.2m votes that voted for Biden in 2020. This is under an expanding voter base. Trump retained most of his base, while Harris squandered it away by not focusing on standard of living issues that the core of the Democratic voting base has been asking for over 30 years.
Part of the reason is that unlike that horrible year, 2020, there wasn't an overwhelming amount of complete failure of almost a million dead people due to an inept policy to consider. The lack of an immediate existential crisis didn't help. But I agree with that Trump base thing and have since 2016. @tiredgardener the problem is trump atleast addressed the issue of fixing the economy which many people were frustrated about while it didn't seem kamala really focused or prioritised economy in her campaign and didn't address it enough rather she focused more on abortion and democracy which was not a universal concern for most people but a priority for a subsection of people
Harris wanted to build 3 million more homes increasing supply and bring down rents and mortgages. Harris also proposes a $40 billion fund to spur new methods in housing construction, including more affordable home designs and new ways to finance construction.
The problem with the macroeconomic angle is that much of this growth isn’t trickling down to average people, and the wealth isn’t being recaptured by broader society. Wages are still low and public services still suck.

Inflation under control doesn’t mean much. Its your cost of living to income ratio has become higher. Inflation is just an indicator of which way this ratio is trending. If your cost of living has gone above your income now you’re negative every month, getting worse and worse. With a bad job market, income doesn’t trend up and switching into something better isn’t feasible at a large scale. I don’t think its just perception.
That's the point. No one feels like the economy is doing well and for most people, that's enough to try something/someone else. And from my experience this affects EVERYONE, including the high and mighty classist people who think they are better educated than other people.
Hearing that the economy is supposedly doing great while people are having a harder and harder time putting food on the table sure didn't help the dems seem trustworthy.
The basic truth of the matter is most people don't understand economics. Much less macro economics. What they do understand is that they don't like it when they go to the grocery store buy 10 things and spend $100.
Which is they voted for the guy who's going to implement a 20 percent tariff or higher on all imports, because making everything 20 percent more expensive is how you address the price of groceries. Lmao.
@Drkon6 Again most people don't understand things like tariffs. Interesting fact about tariffs, pre civil war 90% of the federal budget came from tariffs.
The main issue was 3 fold. 1. Kamala wasn’t chosen by the Democratic primary she was chosen by the delegates. This kept the standard primary process from filtering out weaker more unpopular candidates. It was bad enough that Biden cruised through it with no effective resistance. If someone had run the cognitive issues he had would’ve been seen earlier and dealt with. 2. She only had 100 days to campaign as a presidential candidate, while reforming Biden’s campaign, while starting the process of VP selection, while trying to match Trump. Doing to much at the same time caused deficiencies within her campaign that hurt her. 3. She had already been actively campaigning with President Biden as his VP, tying her own personal opinions to his agenda. So when he dropped out she was unable to distance herself from those unpopular policies with the Democratic voters at large, and had to play as a younger female Joe Biden of color which didn’t help her much considering his unpopularity. While Trump did increase minority support and secured the popular vote it’s important to note that the lack of Democratic Turnout is what lost the election. Overall Trump had nearly as many votes in 2020 as he did in 2024, had Democratic turnout been similar to in 2020 this election this would’ve gone differently. The democrats must ask themselves why turnout was so low for their side and react accordingly
80 million people voted for Not Trump. A lot of those people have forgotten and so didn't feel it necessary to vote. Threats of Project 25 seemed so farfetched and reminders of Jan 6 were downplayed.
This is probably the most likely answer I've seen. Now I just wanna know why Maine banned their ranked choice voting. The only people who benefit from the first past the post system are extremely left and right candidates
Good comment other than the 16 million thing. You must have read information from election night because his vote total is over 72 Million at the moment, only 2 million votes behind and they still arent done counting yet. It was lack of democratic enthusiasm yes but enthusiasm was not down across the board, republicans voted at nearly identical numbers to 2020
you failed to mention perhaps the most important fact of them all: it seems that in this election Trump's vote count didn't grow much compared to 2020, while the Democrats lost 10 million votes. Americans didn't choose Trump. they rejected the Democrats. not saying those facts clearly is painting a misleading picture.
Trump won the popular vote and electoral college, so yes Americans did choose him, republicans also won the senate and will win the house, so yes people chose them.
@@peope789 not at all, Kamala only needed less than 1 million votes between Pennsylvania & Georgia & Wisconsin and she would have won the election via electoral college but still lost the popular vote. You can't blame the electoral college system this time.
@@FATHOLLYWOODB123 You're misunderstanding the point that you're responding to. Which was that the result was far more a rejection of the Democrats than it was an endorsement of Trump. Banker inflation is not the iflation people care about. They care about the cost of their food, shelter and transportation. All of which rose more than 30% under Biden.
Hi as an American I think you missed a few key points. One important point that no one is talking about is the constant attack on gun rights by Democrats. Foreigners oftentimes do not understand how important the gun owners vote is considering that nearly half of Americans are gun owners. Gun ownership is different in Europe than in America. It is considered a privilege in most countries but a human right in the USA. It is part of our constitution and many Americans feel that it is the core foundation of our country. Many feel that without it we have no constitution. The democrats struggled in this and many made very anti gun statements and many Democratic states passed anti gun laws. If you look at the last few weeks Kamala and Walz were trying to act pro gun. Kamala bragged about owning a handgun and Walz went on a failed hunting trip. He did not even know how to load his shotgun. Many Americans saw this as a desperate attempt to suck up to gun owners and they didn't believe them. Kamala even proposed an ordinance in San Francisco to ban all handguns. When she was confronted on this she claimed she did not. Voters didn't believe her. If you look on TH-cam alone you can find thousands of videos talking about her attacks on gun rights. Gun channels mobilized millions of voters and they voted against her. Many gun owners are liberal on other issues. Me for example I have no issue with gay marriage. I believe everyone should be able to marry who they want but I will never support gun control so I can't support someone like her. Another factor you didn't talk enough about was illegal immigration. The United States has over 20 million illegal immigrants and 8 million crossed alone in the last 3 years. When Kamala and Walz were confronted on it they acted like it wasn't a big deal. The United States is the most generous country in the world to immigrants. We take 1 million legal immigrants a year and most Americans are related to immigrants in the last 100 years. However just because we are pro legal immigration does not make us pro illegal immigration. Americans really do not like illegal immigration. My parents for example are legal immigrants that left communist Eastern Europe. They feel very offended when Democrats compare them to illegal immigrants. My parents worked hard and did everything through the proper process. Its not fair to them to be compared to someone who broke into the country. Additionally democrats have created policies in cities called "Sanctuary Cities" making it very difficult for federal immigration officials to find and detain illegal immigrants. No country in the world would be happy with millions of illegal immigrants. Instead of trying to understand why voters were angry Democrats accused them of bigotry. Its not bigotry to want a secure strong border and deport illegal immigrants. You even said that having a strong border is a right wing point. Well it shouldn't be. Everyone right and left should support strong border controls. When Democrats were pressed on the issue they just constantly say "We want comprehensive immigration reform" without explaining what it is. To voters that sounds like open borders. Democrats talked about how they do the jobs Americans won't do but don't talk about the billions in economic loss by having millions of illegal immigrants in the country. Voters got tired of being called bigots and voted against it. Insulting and accusing voters of bigotry didn't work out. These jobs could be filled by Americans if these companies paid fair wages but instead they pay illegally under the books. Illegal immigration helps these greedy corporations the left complains about . As for endorsements Democrats got rich actors and musicians to endorse them. They also got warmongers like Dick Cheney and John Kelly to endorse them. These people lied to us about the Iraq war and Democrats act like they are great honorable people. They may be Republicans but they hate Trump because he won't intervene in other nations. Trump went for the key endorsements. He got RFK Jr. RFK tried to reach out to Kamala but she refused to meet him and called him a conspiracy theorist. He had millions of supporters and he went to Trump. Trump sat down with him and discussed topics with him and promised him a position. When he endorsed Trump he got millions of RFK left leaning voters who felt abandoned by Democrats. Trump got Elon and his help with X. He got Doctor Phil to say he isn't a bully. He got Joe Rogan the most popular radio host in America who has millions of left and right wing viewers to endorse him. He also got Tulsi Gabord a democrat who was forced out of her own party for not supporting the constant world police. Who did Kamala get? Rich actors and warmongers. Its clear Trump's endorsements were people that were respected while Kamala's endorsements were seen as entitled celebrities. Lastly when you talk about the economy theres a difference between what economists say and what voters are feeling. Biden and Kamala bragged about the stock market but most Americans could care less. The stock market isn't a model of the economy. Its how people feel about the economy. The working class voter in swing states isn't going to care about the stock market. They are going to care about their wages and if they can put food on the table. They are going to see high grocery prices and gas prices and say "What are they talking about?". Basically the democrats were out of touch with working class voters. Trump was made fun of by Democrats by working at McDonalds and as a garbage man but it was a genius move. He appealed to working class voters but the Democrats were so blinded by their hatred of Trump they made fun of him and didn't realize it was hurting them. You need to also mention the fact that Trump did not get us involved in any wars and nothing started under his administration. Biden lost Afghanistan and had left behind thousands of armored vehicles and guns for the Taliban. Then he tried to blame Trump saying it was his plan. Even if it was Trump's plan he followed it. He acted like it was a success when 13 Americans died in the withdrawal. That alone lost him the Veteran Vote. Additionally I have seen several comments of Europeans accusing Americans of being selfish for only caring about their own country. We Americans do not understand this logic. Our first priority is our own country. We have no responsibility to play world police and we are sick of it. If you had your tax dollars constantly involved in other country's affairs you would be sick of it as well. Trump had massive support from Americans when he confronted many European nations on not paying 2% of their GDP to NATO. Americans pay 3.5% to cover countries that do not pay. It is not fair to the American tax payer that rich nations like Germany and France cannot contribute more. Americans saw billions of our dollars being sent to other countries when our own people are struggling. When Maui island in Hawaii was burned down the Democrats tried to blame it on climate change. Then it later came out that it was because of an electrical company. People lost their homes, businesses and livelihoods. What did they get ? $700 and Biden fell asleep when he got there and talked about how it reminded him of his kitchen fire. Then years later when Florida, Georgia, South and North Carolina were devastated by hurricanes. What did the Americans get who lost their homes? $700 again. Then when they see billions being sent to other countries they get angry. Americans main concern is not wars in other countries. My heart goes out to those people but our priority should always be our own nation first. Other countries do not pay to protect our borders and many Americans do not want to pay to protect theirs. The factory worker in Michigan or the coal miner in Pennsylvania isn't going to care about woke policies. They care about their wallet and their country and Democrats failed to see this Here are the points on what Democrats need to change 1. Stop constantly attacking gun rights. This turns off millions of liberal gun owners when they feel they are being labeled as bad people and criminals 2. Stop defending illegal immigration. Start supporting deportation for these people. Stop comparing legal immigrants to illegal immigrants. Its insulting. Stop giving illegal immigrants free hotels and debit cards. They are here illegally and they should be told to wait and come through the proper process. If Democrats don't many Americans feel as though they want to replace them with illegal immigrants and do not feel their needs are being taken into account 3. Reach out to rural communities more. Understand that what people want in cities isn't always what rural voters want. Get away from these entitled celebrities. 4. Stop intervening in other countries. Americans are tired of world police. We just want to focus on our own country. When you send billions to other countries when your own people are struggling they think you don't care about them. 5. Stop pushing so much woke ideology and calling anyone who doesn't agree with open borders a bigot. Personal attacks always backfire. 6. Also stop attacking Trump on his class. It doesn't matter to voters if Trump is a billionaire. They see rich celebrities and most billionaires supporting Kamala. Follow these steps and Democrats will get back millions of voters but I doubt they will even follow two of these steps.
I feel like this strategy is just going to alienate more Democrats as a result it’s going to make the Democrats lose even harder next time… These things you’re saying, first of all aren’t even true and is not a realistic strategy because it’s just going to make the Democratic base vote lesser and as a result, they’re going to lose…. Secondly, no one is attacking gun right…. They have been pretty lenient on gun restriction and I feel like you’re just using this losing opportunity to attack Democrats instead of offering a realistic view about what’s actually going on… Economy is one of the most important issues that voters are looking at and you fail to address such questions…. Overall, the reason why the Democratic part you lost is because of their poor messaging and Harris dropped in 100 days before the election… You just can’t possibly win or persuade voters in under 100 days unlike Trump has been in the race for the full campaign term… Overall, these points are just laughable because why is the Democrats going to alienate their own voting base? Just like how Republicans don’t shift their values because they lost… Gun owners, isn’t everything in America and by the grace of god, I am a American too but if you’re going to convince voters on what they’re voting for then Harris did a pretty bad job at that… it wasn’t because of her policies because half of her policies were popular with the voters but it wasn’t clear enough or persuasive enough to persuade voters… Democrats never failed to see the economy was a top issue Like I don’t think you have seen those ads where the Democrats literally promised to cut taxes for the middle class and build more housing….. Overall your pointers are just nonchalant… Not even accurate and it’s just going to alienate their own voting base and if that’s anything better than that’s crazy… Plus the Democrats has been very tough on the border probably one of the toughest in history of the party…. The Republicans also made personal attack ads so I fail to see the point of this argument…
Peanut and Fred were a perfect storm at the perfect time, while the end result was solid enough on its own that it is doubtful a raccoon and a squirrel could have been deciding... they must have had a 1% effect if we're being generous.
@@randomhuman2595 It just that EVERYONE KNOWS that Dems are about, more laws, control and regulation while Republicans are about deregulation and individual liberty. In other words, the squirrel would not have been killed if it was in Ohio.
I have an additional consideration for viewers: Reps are running campaigns on populist messaging and Dems are not. People are wanting major changes and Trump offers that by “breaking the system”
I think your comment is right. Harris might not have said it because she either wasnt going to change anything, didnt want to or didnt care. Trump says he cares, wants to change things and intends to, but the political lobby has been around along time (so all Presidents and the parties can be bought largely). The difference is Trumps messaging, you are right. So long as he ends the Ukraine proxy war that would be great, give Putin the Dombas and back NATO away from their borders as was agreed 50 years ago... The US gov had huge issues with the Cuban missille crisis, doing the same back to Russia costs lives.
It really is about populism. Overall, the democrats have been a complete disaster so people turned to the other option as awful as it is. It's sad. Very sad.
Every political media outlet does that. Easier to jump on the air with a prepared list of points and theories. The Queen's obituary was on the docket for decades.
The real question is, what made these people look at the polls and derived conclusion that Kamala got this? If anything it's nothing more than wishful thinking
You mean like when the conservatives played the victim for the past 4 years and tried to coup the government because they're petty losers? Every accusation is actually a confession when it comes from a conservative. I am more and more certain of this with each passing day.

@@lifeinvader2039 yes I agree with you. But as I said, talking about racial voting demographics is more of an effect of the divisions in American society, rather than the cause of it. What do you think?
@vignotum132 ah ok, it is making the effects worse for a society that is meant to be equal... It feels like there is stigma for an ethic minority to vote a certain way, it is meant to be their right to vote, not the right way to vote. Maybe I am wrong before write this. When your entire campaign is calling people garbage and saying the person they like is a Nazi, it's bound to happen especially when the other party delivers a good campaign.
@@squirdo7947 Those insults were never going to change people's minds. Calling your opponent a bitch is none to smart either. Trump's campaign was awful. He had to be "handled" during the final stages because he couldn't be trusted not to get onto a fight with his interviewers over false statements. He had supporters at his rallies walking for hours because he failed to organise them buses. He received cease and desist letters from all the artists whose music he used without permission. During the campaign he had a huge open court case about stealing the election. He made so many gaffes calling people names and making ridiculous and dangerous statements it's amazing. His own campaign manager said he would quit at the end of the campaign. But several things; Americans are not media literate. If a guy is a celebrity then what he says must be true and he couldn't do anything wrong about 33 million Americans could be shown footage of Trump shooting someone and they'd still say he's a great guy. Secondly, one thing Trump does well.is five word slogans. Doesn't matter if they are untrue or contain vile messages, five word slogans stick. The Democrats are not good at these slogans. It is not a surprise they do best with college educated voters. Thirdly, many Americans will not vote for a woman. They won't say it but it is true. Fourth; they try to please everyone. Instead of changing their position on things because they get criticism for it, they need to double down and make a case for their position. Fifth; people forgot how bad it was under Trump. So the Not Trump vote disappeared. They don't take Project 25 seriously. It could never happen in their minds.
My boomer parents made me laugh with the “bigly” thing. “Trump’s so dumb, he says bigly, which isn’t even a word hur hur hur!”. He was always saying “big league”.
Why I, a Democrat, didn't vote for Kamela 1) There was no primary election when Biden stepped down. We did not choose her as our nominee to go against Trump. She was just installed, and we were supposed to just accept that and not ask any questions. 2) As VP, Kamela was supposed to be in charge of the border. We currently have Venezuelan gangs terrorizing the streets of NY as well as entire apartment complexes in Colorado. In 2021, when asked if she has even gone down to the border yet, she said she hadn't and tried to inappropriately conflate it with never having gone to Europe neither. 3) She doesn't know what she stands for and is flip-floppy on progressive policies. During the 2020 primaries, when asked if she would give up her insurance for a Medicare-for-all program, she said said yes. When pressed on it at a later point, she said wouldn't. She says what she thinks people want to hear when it's convenient to her.

"A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution"- Donald Trump
What do you think about Trump denying the election? Since Trump won, this has set the standard that any sore loser candidate who can try to overthrow the government with little to no consequences.
The difference between Trump 2016 and Trump 2024 is that Trump is now prepared and organized, with several plans for how to circumvent, or outright remove many of the institutional barriers he faced in 2016. Since 2024 three judges of the supreme court has been replaced with Trump appointees, that and you now have more Trump supports, plus more Republicans in general in Congress. In 2016 several of Trump's Executive Appointees held back on his more radical ideas. That, and there were pushback from Civil Servants Trump didn't appoint and couldn't remove. This time Trump has plans for how to get rid of the immunity civil servants currently have. In addition Trump has more support from conservative organizations like the Heritage Foundation, who are behind Project 2025, an outline for an authoritarian takeover of the US state apparatus. Vox recently published a video where they go into more depth than I have. As an outside observer I worry for your safety, and right to exist. Still I hope things go well for you. Lastly, abortion rights matter to normal working people as long as you consider women people.
@@heronoverdose That is not how tariffs work. It is also not intended to make things cheaper. It will make foreign imported products more expensive, and the importer (in this case a American company) doesn't pay for the final tariffs due to making the the end consumer that pays for it. The only effect it can have is that the American people will choose American products over foreign products to stimulate local business. But it will very much not make things cheaper
So lemme get this straight, you lefties whine endlessly about how this is a matter of paying less vs "human rights" and now that Trump won you're trying to say he's bad for the economy? I'd have at least some level of respect for you if you could stay consistent.
It's bad, but I actively have to think of something (besides GPUs) that actually tripled in price. Most things I buy got a permanent 33-50% increase in price. The worst part is that outside of a deflationary period (which would be a disaster) this is probably where prices will remain for a while until they go up again.
As a Gen-Z first time voter from Pennsylvania let me tell you the real ground feelings of people my age. Most of us young people who have recently moved out and are in college or early careers are struggling. We are unable to eat healthy because almost everything is expenses. Eggs are $6. Used cars that have 100,000 miles on them are still going for absurd prices like $10-12K. Most of us are unable to afford things like that. For early career folks, they are unable to save because of rent prices having doubled in the past four years. With high mortgage rates and high prices of new homes, many of us wonder if we will ever be able to afford a house. We are working hard but are not seeing the results thanks to the high cost of living. We just did not like Kamala Harris and believed that she would not have won the nomination had there been an open primary. Her policies were also not openly known and she made little effort to do a broad outreach to express her views and how she would govern differently from Biden. Trump on the other hand was showing up on podcasts plus he had the advantage of having previously served. Most Americans would rather go for someone whose policies are known even if they disagree with that person rather than someone who has flip-flopped on issues their entire career. Trump won the social media game. His messaging worked and edits of him being portrayed as the epitome of the American dream resonated with young voters who believed that the American dream is no longer accessible to them. Seeing Trump’s edits of him with successful business leaders, sports cars, luxury penthouses sold a story and made people believe that under Trump they can progress economically. While many Americans disagree with Trump’s rhetoric and his anti-abortion stance, it has to be noted that his rhetoric and abortion stance does not directly affect a whole lot of Americans. Yes the abortion part affects women, but that isn’t broadly visible and should not have served as the only campaign issue for Harris. Most Americans can feel their wallets hurt every time they step out of the house to buy stuff and Trump was able to capitalize on that. Finally, the constant portrayal of Trump as a threat to democracy just grew old because we have been hearing the same argument for nine years now. The democrats ran a weak candidate who did not even go through a primary, did not do enough interviews to differentiate herself from an unpopular President, and had the same boring messaging of negativity against Trump. Trump instead offered hope for economic opportunities and recovery which again resonated with most Americans who are struggling.
I am so grateful that I'm not American now that I have read this point of view. Literally everything you wrote feels like it comes from an alternate dimension. Re-elect a president who oversaw the largest concentration of wealth to the rich at the expense of the poor and who is campaigning on tariffs over a candidate who was going to make price gouging illegal and increase minimum wage. He is supported by every oligarch in the USA, from Bezos to Musk, who do all they can to make workers' conitions worse. You also dismiss the idea he is a threat to democracy? He literally staged a coup four years ago! I note how dismissive you are of abortion by saying it doesn't affect "most Americans." What a selfish way to refer to half of your population. You will have a weird dementia patient as president now who campaigned on the biggest identity politics matter of all: deporting all immigrants. You can't get more divisive than that. Trump is horrible. His voters voted for who reflects them.
Because TLDR doesn't get it: it's the same as the video they made about Spain. You can say that the economy is fine, but if people on the ground see that grocery prices and rents are increasing and there is no prospect of becoming homeowners, then no matter what the raw economic data says, people won’t buy it.
The problem isn't with raw economy in the US, but crushingly high inflation eroding the value of paychecks and savings, something Kamala had no policy to address whatsoever
@@eggsalad1587 Literally manufactured data be like Food prices are 60+ higher than 4 years ago, gas cost over 3 dollars a gallon, electronics got price hiked. Where is your 2.5% inflation when people can't afford food and housing?
@@HyperScorpio8688 inflation being down does not mean prices are down. This is part of the disconnect where pretty much everyone talks about the former, when real people only understand and care about the latter. Inflation being down just means the prices won't spike to even more unmanageable levels. That it won't get any worse. But the only way to make things better, to make things affordable for people again, is to tackle things from the other direction in terms of wages. But that's such minefield of a conversation, compared to the seemingly simpler "inflation". Even when its being totally misused. But yea, the Harris campaign didn't really do a good job of fronting policies for making things more affordable. Tax credits sure. Vaguely pointing at fighting anti-competitive behaviour jacking up prices sure. Ban on price-gouging somehow. But it never really coalesced in to something concrete people could really latch on to. Granted, its a more difficult task than just pointing to how you're doing on inflation. But it was pretty bad, even accounting for that.
"Identity Politics: Kamala didn't talk about Identity Politics at all." Exactly, she didn't talk against it. Also, "identity politics" has been an issue that pushed many people -before even the campaigns begun- into looking at a party they wouldn't even have consider as an option before that. The left pushed so much to the left that many moderates started considering the red as a valid option. Your candidate did NOTHING to distance herself -and their policies- out of identity politics and DEI. She didn't talk about it at all. THAT was the problem.
I agree. I think the Culture Wars and Identity Politics were a big X factor in this election that no one is talking about. The more they ignored, insulted and tried to gaslight people who didn't like it, the more angry and radical they became. Dems and Harris have no one to blame but themselves.
Except "the left" isn't the left at all. Liberalism is a right wing ideology. That's why she tries to convince you that the economy that works wonders for top 1% and Wallstreet plutocrats is also good for you.
If you look at the elections before, biden was the anomaly. He received 80 mil votes compared to the average of around 65 million. So kamala went back to the average
starting to see why conservatives didnt really buy the 80 million votes thing eh? keep thinking. the gap will shrink a bit, we'll probably see the gap drop from 15 million towards 10 million. but thats still a startling drop without a good explanation.
@MagDrag123 nope. Because you could vote absentee. There's no excuse not to vote. The fact is that the people voted and the minorities overwhelmingly voted for Trump. All the Mexicans and other Hispanics I work with voted Trump and will as the African Americans. The working classes voted Trump. That's what happened.
Let’s be real, it’s simply because Kamala didn’t really offer any substance beyond “I won’t do the bad things orange man will” and most Americans don’t have a clue about economics or what’s going on outside of their borders.
For many of us, we were/are on the left but reject the counterintuitively racist and sexist identity politics; we want actual left wing policy à la Bernie before 2020.
I'm Hispanic, and the mistake Democrats made was assuming that we were monolithic on the subject of illegal immigration. We aren't, and huge numbers of us don't favor illegal immigration. You badly overestimate the strength of the economy, it may be good by European standards, but is poor compared to Trump's last term. Inflation is still twice what it was when Trump left office, fuel prices are significantly higher, and the average new home costs TWICE what it did 4 years ago. Rents have also spiked higher. You also really seem to underestimate the importance of the immigration crisis.
I see a lot of people on the comments referencing "woke" politics. I used to agree and watch youtubers who complained about such a thing, eventually I grew bored, moved on, then realized afterwards that I heard so much less about that kind of thing. I watched a decent amount of John Oliver who is very liberal and entirely policy focused. TLDR: from what I've watched, conservative sources talk more about woke politics than liberal ones
I can go on democrat leaning forums and get massive doses of what many people consider wokeness tbh. Of course there are groups that don't bother with social issues on either side.
Trump won it all! My biggest concern is how we can survive this whole financial and political crisis, especially given the political power struggle. The government has really made things harder for its citizens and we cannot stand by and accept all the consequences of poor governance.

As an American I can totally relate to the importance of the economy. To me the single most important issue this election was housing inflation (apartments and homes are just too expensive).
The left lied a lot this election cycle too. They lied telling us the economy was doing great even though we are suffering. They lied telling us the world was fine while we are closer to WW3 then ever before in my lifetime. And they lied by calling Trump and anyone who considered voting for him fascists lol, all the while trying to prosecute their political opponents and forcing a nominee on the American people without a fair primary election
What lies on the right? I watched a JD Vance interview and he seemed pretty cool and I agreed with him of quite a few things as someone from the UK. He talked about pharmaceutical companies not be able to get sued due to a loophole with native Americans, he talked about how corporations private profits but their losses are socialised. The Democrats just seem to focus on Project 2025 that was never endorsed by Trump or JD
It's not just that voters care about inflation. The media talks about nothing else than the economy, so people start to believe that it's important to them.
As far as the economy, for a large amount Americans it has become very difficult to afford housing, transportation, energy and food. If you are in that situation and are being told that you just don't understand how good you have it. It makes working class people angry and they vote for the alternative.
Y’all need a bigger analysis of americas socioeconomic conditions. We have zero social safety net, that’s an undeniable part of this election outcome and the way people feel about the economy regardless of macroeconomic trends.
What distinguished Trump from Kamala for me was that Trump spoke about his goals and what he would change and why. Ive watched so much from Kamala but she could never give a comprehensive plan for what she wants to do. If you include the media, about 85% of Kamalas airtime is her talking about Trumps "evil plan" while if you watch any of Trump he would tell you, no, thats not my plan. Here is my plan.
if you really gonna believe everything trump tells you, do you believe that immigrants are eating peoples dogs and cats? do you think that trump is going to use the military on “the enemy within”?? does any of that sound normal or ok? you really believe his “concept of a plan” is going to work out?
Biden solidified her lose by not pulling out earlier. If anybody is to blame, its Democrats themselves by not seeing writing on the wall on his health.
How did anyone not see this coming? All Kamala ever said when asked a question, was blaming Trump. Trump talked about the issues and Kamala literally said she wouldn't change anything that happened in the last 4 years. Also that 60 minutes interview.... yikes
As a left leaning person, I recognize Kamala and her campaign sort of broke one of the golden rules of democratic politics which is to appeal to the largest number of people while also not alienating your base.
One point always missed out is that Kamala didn't have the time to be more present in some people's minds. She could improve her reputation but I think a lot of people already made up their mind before she ran.

Yeah, I think most people who voted for her did so because:

But that's her own fault, right? Why couldn't she attract voters?!

People who voted for Trump for him to lower consumer prices are in for a rude awakening when the tariffs hit.
@@tomaburque Exactly, thank you for saying this. People don't understand how horrible tariffs are for economies and don't realize that just because the stock market is doing good, that doesn't mean the economy is doing good. Guys....inflation fell. That means that they merely stopped going up. That doesn't mean the prices went down. We are still struggling at the grocery store.
You know deflation (price decreases) is actually just as bad and could be even worse than inflation, right?
Plus the prices at the grocery store are way higher than just the official inflation number of 23% increase since right before Covid.
@@비옌이 please explain how going back to prices from 2020 would be bad for people.
@tamberlame27
This is copied and pasted from Banco de España.

That makes sense, but Trump is only going to make their lives worse. As a people, Americans have no patience.

XD
I guess somehow, getting 16 million less votes counts as "improving."

Americans generally do not understand the concept of inflation rates but they can clearly compare pricing on everyday items and services.
Economists and policymakers can say “Inflation is down” meanwhile consumers/voters are questioning “Why are prices still so high then?”
This is the disconnect in American economic discussions.
very good point. inflation and prices are two different things, and are widely conflated in news media. The US voter still sees prices being anywhere from 1.5x to 4x as high as they were pre-covid and that breeds distrust when the media says that inflation is low.

Even if those 10 million people had voted, Kamala still would have lost due to the electoral college system.
Trump won the popular vote and electoral college, so yes Americans did choose him, republicans also won the senate and will win the house, so yes people chose them.

The video brings this exact point up at 6:18.
They care about their wallet and their country and Democrats failed to see this
Here are the points on what Democrats need to change
1. Stop constantly attacking gun rights. This turns off millions of liberal gun owners when they feel they are being labeled as bad people and criminals
2. Stop defending illegal immigration. Start supporting deportation for these people. Stop comparing legal immigrants to illegal immigrants. Its insulting. Stop giving illegal immigrants free hotels and debit cards. They are here illegally and they should be told to wait and come through the proper process. If Democrats don't many Americans feel as though they want to replace them with illegal immigrants and do not feel their needs are being taken into account
They have been pretty lenient on gun restriction and I feel like you’re just using this losing opportunity to attack Democrats instead of offering a realistic view about what’s actually going on…
Economy is one of the most important issues that voters are looking at and you fail to address such questions…. Overall, the reason why the Democratic part you lost is because of their poor messaging and Harris dropped in 100 days before the election… You just can’t possibly win or persuade voters in under 100 days unlike Trump has been in the race for the full campaign term…
Overall, these points are just laughable because why is the Democrats going to alienate their own voting base? Just like how Republicans don’t shift their values because they lost… Gun owners, isn’t everything in America and by the grace of god, I am a American too but if you’re going to convince voters on what they’re voting for then Harris did a pretty bad job at that… it wasn’t because of her policies because half of her policies were popular with the voters but it wasn’t clear enough or persuasive enough to persuade voters…
Democrats never failed to see the economy was a top issue Like I don’t think you have seen those ads where the Democrats literally promised to cut taxes for the middle class and build more housing….. Overall your pointers are just nonchalant… Not even accurate and it’s just going to alienate their own voting base and if that’s anything better than that’s crazy…
Plus the Democrats has been very tough on the border probably one of the toughest in history of the party…. The Republicans also made personal attack ads so I fail to see the point of this argument…

Why I, a Democrat, didn't vote for Kamela
1) There was no primary election when Biden stepped down.

The only effect it can have is that the American people will choose American products over foreign products to stimulate local business. But it will very much not make things cheaper

Inflation is terrible here in the US. A dollar item four years ago is close to three or four dollars today. I shop and watch closely what I buy.
Im so glad when they tell us that inflation is only 2,5% meanwhile everything costs double
It's bad, but I actively have to think of something (besides GPUs) that actually tripled in price. Most things I buy got a permanent 33-50% increase in price.
The worst part is that outside of a deflationary period (which would be a disaster) this is probably where prices will remain for a while until they go up again.
@@EbonySaints Yeah there's no real way back. And deporting illegals and introducing tarriffs will probably hike inflation again.
enjoy things going up even more under trump.
And its going to get worse under Trump according to numerous noble prize winning economists.
The issue is not inflation but affordability. The reduction in affordability is much more severe over the past four years in the US than in Europe.
These two go hand in hand

I agree. I think the Culture Wars and Identity Politics were a big X factor in this election that no one is talking about. The more they ignored, insulted and tried to gaslight people who didn't like it, the more angry and radical they became. Dems and Harris have no one to blame but themselves.
