Mehmed IV wanted to live up to, and even surpass, the legacy of his forefather Mehmed II, who had secured the Ottomans' inheritance to the Roman Empire through his conquest of Constantinople. So the current Mehmed decided to target Vienna, not knowing its active resistance and elaborate defense buildings designed by Georg Rimpler would prove maddening. So the Ottomans prepared to attack underground, via gunpowder prepared inside mining tunnels.

Thanks For this! It's always a pleasure to watch your Amazing work! You guys always make My day 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
Personally I both agree and disagree with your assessment of the motivation behind the siege. Yes, everything you said has merit, but mostly for the nobles and royalty, not the commoners. I mean let us be honest the difference in religion in theory would have been a bigger motivation for the commoners.
1:34 Using "Istanbul" instead of CONSTANTINOPLE is probably the most controversial EH Decision...
_probably..._
There was that one episode... (I heard it's a _cult_ classic!)
I laughed, thank you.
Excuse me I am going to 9th grade and I have to read the book a separate Peace can you do a "So you haven't read" episode for "a Separate Peace" please
AND THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED
🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🦅🦅🦅
Ahhh Age of Empires II...
I mean yeah actual history too.
That said as much as I love the Hussars in the field I loved wrecking entire civilizations with Elite Janissary and cannons more.
COMING DOWN THEY TURNED THE TIDD
CANNONBALLS ARE COMING DOWN FROM THE SKY!!
WE REMEMBER IN SEPTEMBER
Rohirrim: we did the most epic cavalry charge
Winged hussars: hold our beers
The ride of the Rohirrim is based partly on the battle of Vienna
@@mikemcghin5394 Why am I not surprised?
*shots, vodka shots...
Poles made great beer (still make some rather decent), but perfecting vodka and other stronger spirits was their thing.
lol The turks are the Rohirrim .
The Turks charged the orcs over a hill during the miserable siege of Nicopolis and suffered the same fate as the orcs lol
Here's an interesting fact:
The United States recently approved for Poland to manufacture their own version of the F-35 fighter/stealth jet. Poland renamed it, "The Hussars". So if Russia dares to march across the border to challenge the Polish people, the Winged Hussars will take flight once more and beat back the enemy!
Just like 303
nah its more likely for Russia to liberated Poland against Germany than Russian attacking Poland again. xd
I wonder if they are going to paint the rudders like the wings of the hussars?
I know that RAM doesn't like paint, so maybe only for airshows 😅

Saw this in 23 seconds since it was posted. I really do like it when all of the episodes are compressed into one longe form episode.

OOOOH each "Complete" gets it's own custom remix of your intro theme? That's so cool.
So much fun making them to match the theme!
And why should it not. You don't want super cuts to just be every episode slamed togeather in editing.
What *is* the opening anyway? I've heard it around but never with a title or credit that I can find.
@@D1gital-ZER0 The song is "Birth of the People" from a SNES game called ActRaiser.
I always thought the Winged Hussars had one of the most imposing uniforms in history. Seeing them riding toward you must have felt like an army of angels storming your way.
More like fallen angels.
@@Toonrick12If they in any way spoke like the Poles I know fallen angels would indeed be apt.
“KUUUUUUUURWA MAAAAAAAAAC!”
Really? I always found them quite goofy. I think a normal knight looks more imposing.

as an Austrian with Hungarian origin, living in Vienna, I am of course well informed regarding these events, but since your videos are so well made, I am really looking forward to this one!!

My favourite Series from this Channel. A hard fought siege and a dramatic finish at the end, History does produce the best Story's
Thanks for the nostalgia! The intro was AMAZING 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
Another awesome intro! Is this for all complete series?!?! Im so hyped!
Changing the intros to match the series has been so much fun!
You know the day is gonna be good when Extra History uploads a new video!
Aye I love the Siege of Vienna series, lovely to see this.
I’m excited to see how this re interpretation of a legend video .
Yes! Make more series into one whole package! Pretty please!
I look towards every new complete series video with tons of anticipation! ^_^
Thanks extra history I have been waiting for this
One of your best works!
I’d love to see a complete video of the Great Northern War Series. It’s one of my favorite series from this channel. It also has my favorite songs, “Song of Gunfire.” I love all that you guys do in the name of sharing history. ❤
Oh hell yeah I’m loving these compilations!
Loving the compilations so far! Please do more of them! ❤
This is one of my favorite series!! I hope we get more like this!
I love these compilation videos!
This was fun to watch😎👍
Thank you 🙏
Wonderful 👏 🔥
amazing job. good video.
Love these complete editions, please tack on the lies episodes to the end as well!
Nice I like that you are making the series into one video.
I would love if you guys do a series on Carthage
These long form compliations are fantastic!!

I really like the new long format! Keep the good work up 👍
Love these long forms!

NEW INTRO MUSIC?
THIS IS A REVOLUTION
This new intro is cleeeaan
What a Glorious ride it must had been
OO! that new intro hits HARD!
The updated notes/clarifications in this version are appreciated
Okay... I like the Complete episodes. This is nice.
Please do the Greek war of independence of 1821 against the ottoman empire next
I've been asking for this since the first episodes of the sengoku Jidai!!.
I do appreciate the more condensed format with corrections taken from the lies episodes, but I do hope this doesn't become the main content on this channel. It's useful, but it's already there.
I had forgotten about this channel since the controversy with the extra credits gaming video. I forgot how much I enjoyed these series
Thanks so good
Very Good video intressting
It'd be like a million Christmases in one day if you guys did the Catherine the Great series. I've watched your series of it just about a dozen times
Will you do the older episodes in the complete format? I’d love to have the Justinian series as a complete episode!
Love your channel ✌️✌️✌️✌️
thanks extra history
I love how EC didn't just stitch together the original episodes, but added more detail and corrected some things.
When I first watched the series, the inaccurate detail about Charles II caught my attention. This time around, it's been notated.
I watched the original of these! I love it
good show
I never knew i needed this, but i needed this...
I wish you would upload longer videos like this one, and even 20 minute videos that have like 4 parts each
Love the Tiny Toons reference
i love the little they might be giants reference
take me back to Constantinople 🗣️🗣️
28:35 "it takes time to draw up an army..." funny visual pun there. 👍
Finally, some nostalgia
In all honesty havung complete vids is great as now it doesn't take 5 seconds of awkword silnce to find the next episode and i dont have to feel bad for skipping the sponsors when re watching them
So that's where the Winged Hussars earned their fame to glory... Nice! This series on the Siege of Vienna is just what I needed, not only did I learn about the origin as to why the Winged Hussars earned so much glory, (And their own Sabaton song) but also how this event marked the begining of the road leading to the creation of my second favorite nation in world history, the Austro-Hungarian Empire (Also referred to as the Austrian Empire from its permanent formation in 1804 until 1867)
i will rewatch all the “complete series” every night now!
There is no "I" or "T" in shoes, true enough. But theres plenty in "requisition" "supply trains" "logistical calculations" "war time preparations".
Man I was half expecting you to break out in sabaton when the winged hasars arrived. Coming down the mountain side.
Your references to They Might Be Giants made my day.
A NEW ONE!
Say it with me: "...AND THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED!"
I would love to see an episode about Skipper Clement the Danish version of Braveheart.
very pleasant colors for the perception, I like it)
I wish you make the Complete of The Sengoku Jidai and Bismarck
Ooh, a new video type? Would be useful for all sorts of series done
I love the long form
Ooo new music remix, love the horses on the thumbnail
Love my Nebula subscription, but still like to help juice your algorithm
It's been suggested that this episode of History is what inspired. Tolkien in the Battle of pelinor fields. As this makes Poland equivalent to Rohan, this checks out.
Custom intro?... Worth it!
This series has my favorite soundtrack Opening Bombardment by Tiffany Roman!
33:39 INVASION OF QUÉBEC!?!?!?! Thank you SOOOOO FREAKING MUCH, guys, to talk about my little corner of the world!! I genuinely just got chills of excitement and giddiness hearing your announcement! I CANNOT WAIIIIIIT!!! 🤩🤩
This was amazing. I’m really over here considering a life time membership but lord knows I can’t afford that LMFAOOOOOOOO
Did the They Might Be Giants - Istanbul (not Constantinople) song, from the depths of their childhood memories, pop into their head while watching the video... or was it just me?
Very kool history
The new intro BAFFLED me
Defense 101:
1. Dig a ditch!
2. Done? Dig another one!
I mean maybe in this case it was not a ditch per se, but the importance of improving the physical defenses is so important in this case! Very much the opposite of Battle of Winterfell (from GoT)
I hope you guys do Lepanto too. I've always sort of seen it as the naval counterpart of Vienna.
0:43 "would actually would".
Besides that, another great video!
Nice.
my favourite series, but longer? count me in
Finally
Mr.Extra History I would like to make a request:
While it is not really the normal kind of thing you make videos about, would you me able to make a video about *The Odyssey?
