Notice when Penny is being playful with the older dog how she actively avoids touching the child. That was 100% an active decision not to knock the child over. I would have adopted right there. Thats so unbelievably hard to train.
Yes, and she will probably learn pretty quickly what the senior dog's limits are. I have a senior and just added a german shepherd cross to my family. One of the reasons I'm keeping him is because of how well he plays with my senior with mobility issues. He will go all out with other younger dogs, but just plays bity face with my senior (who is very happy to play, just if someone is too rough he hurts).
Especially for a young energetic dog she has terrific manners. Hopefully the family can give her enough exercise to keep her happy while enjoying her great temperament. Kudos to them for adopting!

Absolutely and we should not forget that most dogs in shelters have pent-up energy/tension. I think it's normal and understandable that they are more active/energized when playing or interacting with another dog. Therefore, we should not assume it´s her natural energy level and that she will be that way once she settled down in a new home.
I agreed she is very polite and all the energy will be matched by the kid they can tire each other out. Frankly it will also be great for that little girl to have a dog a little younger to play with.
It's probably best for Luna that her original owner declined to pick her up. Now she has the chance to find proper owners who will give her the food, love, and care she needs.
Agree. If they can honestly live with their conscience for saying "just keep her", then they are not a good enough home for Luna, who deserves only the best. She is beautiful and she will find her forever home!

Agree. I had one that was super dog reactive. I invested in a trainer, which, was very difficult for me financially, but, wow, the difference was amazing. He was my soul dog. Passed away on a walk, which was unexpected, gut wrenching and traumatic. I'm thankful he was with me, doing what he loved to do. Dogs are amazing.

I absolutely get your point and admire it. But I think there are situations where it is simply in the interest of the animal to return it/give it into another care/home. There are situations where it is just selfish to keep it, rather than let it have the best opportunities and home possible.

I do wonder why so many loving, lovely dogs get abandoned or mistreated. I'm sure they have different stories but in the end, the dog suffers.
If people can abuse innocent children they of course do it to animals and abandon because it's legal.
That beaks my heart to hear Luna's owners just gave her up, she deserves a forever home and not be nutritionally neglected. Like I could SEE her ribs through her fur, she's just so fluffy it's hard to see but yeah she's very very under weight. Kelly deserves a forever home, she's such a beautiful sweet girl, and she just wants love.
My Grandparents were both Deaf & Blind so I grew up with their German Shepherd guide dogs. For the most part back in the '30s '40s and '50s German shepherds were the most popular guide dog breed. I just wish more people were aware of how loving, loyal, and gentle they can be.
Just like with labs, they have been overbred and bred for some really bad characteristics which have reduced the good parts of the breed.
This could be the best thing for Luna...its obvious that her "owners" didn't take care of her. That shepherd is a dream pet! Whomever gets her is getting a gem! God be with your endeavors concerning the well being of these pets!

That female long coat German Shepherd is beautiful. And perfect. I wish her the best! It really breaks my heart to hear that there are so many gsds in the shelter, I've had them since I was a baby, I'm now 63. The very traits that make them so popular are the same traits that make them hard to adopt. They are loyal to their owners and protective of them. Please don't take your German Shepherd to a shelter, it's almost a guaranteed death. There are rescue organizations all across the country, take the time to find one or even post an ad for them. They would do it for you...
I don't recommend posting unless you know how to get homes and can do adoption contracts, home checks etc. there's a lot of very bad people who will hurt them.

She is a sweetheart. Very good with people, not stranger fearful and well balanced temperment.
All my dogs have been rescues. All of them and they get their forever home, love, pats, walks, good food, treats, fenced in back yard and fresh water. I love my shelter dogs.
I have two Shepherd mix pups from a litter dumped in the desert in January. Gorgeous dogs. I've asked myself 'Why?' so many times. They are so smart and became protective as soon as we got home. These two 8wk fuzzballs tried to protect my daughter and I from our two huge Dobermans when we introduced them. It was crazy! Makes absolutely no sense why someone would dump them! But they're mine now!!! ❤

I have a shepherd retriever cross I am fostering now and I have no clue why anyone wouldn't want this dog. He came already house trained and figured out my life really quickly. I keep waiting for a reason not to keep him, but it hasn't come.
@@aina3387I had a shepherd retriever mix, rescued from the pound. Her family turned her in. They said she was too high energy but I think her separation anxiety got the better of her sometimes. She was beautiful and so smart. The most obedient dog I ever had. The only one I ever had who play bowed to the vet after getting shots😂.

Don't let that stop you without examining the steps through which you will have to proceed. It cannot be too difficult between the USA and a European Community country, as that has been done many, many times. Do not let the call of your heart go unanswered. Omnia vincit amor! Love conquers all!
You may have been too slow this time, so fight back! Do enough research now, so that if you feel attracted to another animal you will know enough to set an adoption in motion while you deal with the specific details relevant to the animal that has taken your heart.

The gorgeous long haired German Shepherd reminded me of my German Shepherd (Mia) who passed away December 2022 and I’m still grieving. She was very loyal she thought everyone was out to murder me lol. I hope she gets adopted soon and please keep us updated. UK fan ❤

It strikes me that shelters should have some trained volunteers that teach adopters some things about dog psychology/handling because I feel a many families may often get in over their heads with regards to dog handling, which could be allayed with some knowledge and training.

Getting & training volunteers takes money - shelters are short on money. That's why Rocky and his sponsors thankfully step in.

Volunteers are unpaid...not every town has experts with time that don't need money. You can do that though. You go get trained then volunteer

I don’t always love how certain TH-cam personalities promote themselves and their good deeds, but it has been clear from the beginning that Rocky genuinely wants to make a difference with his exposure. It’s never about how him, it is always about what he can do to help the shelters and rescues in his area find foster homes and adopters. I’m sure just him setting a good example has made a widespread impact, let alone how many dogs have found homes because he helped get the word out and helped calm their reactionary behaviors.

In addition to GSDs, there was a time you wouldn't see Shar-Peis and St. Bernards in the shelter. Not so anymore, but this one's surely better off in a new home. I think we all would. It reminds me of an old Popeye cartoon where Popeye freed all the animals from their pet store cages only to see Bluto as the dog catcher pick them all up off the streets in his truck to take them to the shelter. Naturally, Popeye rescued them all and got them safely back into their pet store cages. It was heartwarming to watch as a kid and still is today.

No, that's how you get to heaven. You only get to heaven by admitting you're a sinner and believing that Jesus died for your sins on the cross and rose again to newness of life so that you could too.
Seems to me with all the smiles, even the dogs, I think they are in heaven now. Having adopted both kids and dogs, I know I AM! No matter how much the kids act like dogs lol. There is enough. " don't eat that, stop peeing inside, leave that ALONE! Thank gosh the kids go to bed so I can have quiet time with the puppies.
Earthly commitment doesn't get anyone into heaven. Only by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of their lives does.

People pay a fortune for special breeds only to give them away. Crazy. My rescue dog ate up my house and chewed 5 car seat belts, she needed a 5/6 mile walk every day and toys to keep her stimulated. But she was so gentle, sweet natured and just a fabulous companion. Recently she died of cancer and I miss her every day 😢 please please don’t give up
I was absolutely bawling when I saw the Chinese Shar Pei. She reminded me of my good boy Rocco who crossed over 4 years ago. They are so sweet and loving. They can be expensive health wise due to their eyes , ears and skin needs. They are so worth it. Their loyalty is beyond compare. I'm so happy to see Charlotte got adopted!
I adopted a shelter dog 4 months ago. She’s so adorable and gets along with my little chihuahua. I think she’s a chihuahua, boston terrier mix. She does have small seizures every now and then. I give her CBD oil and both get homemade meals and vitamins. I love my babies and now I’m retired and spend all my time with them. I named her Chloe and they say she’s about 8 years old.
OMG…I am a Cat person, but even I would adopt Kelly. WTH ? How can she be a stray ? That temperament…that gentle, trusting behaviour…those Teddy Bear ears !! Somebody is going to hit the Doggie Lottery Jackpot with this beautiful girl.

17 year old pomchi with a lot of health issues, 13 year old labmix, 10 year old terrier mix. Couldn't imagine a moment of my life without them. No matter how old, blind, deaf, immobile they get, they are mine and I love them more than anything.

Penny is just so happy to be free and around kind people. I hope the adoptive parents understand that it will take a bit for her to settle in and calm down and not give up on her.
I grew up with my Deaf & Blind Grandparents German Shepherd guide dogs and they were the best SUBLINGS in the world.

My rescue girl was so emotionally messed up when we got her. Years of dog school and socialisation and she is a different girl. It takes time to heal a damaged dog, but so worth it ❤

Penny made me remember my dog that died a few years ago, was my companion, friend and son, I helped him when Channel gave birth, him was one of the ones that I saved and wasn't breathing when did born. I cry a bit when I remember him my Snoopy I hope that is in a better place. I miss him so much, and the new pup is helping healing that scars together with my rescued cat that someone did abndoned outside my fence injured in the paws. I have 2 dogs and two cats both rescued and healed by me now they are big and strong. Give love and take care of your 4 pawed friends they give so much uncondicional love and we should give love too until the last breath and know that we did the best for them. And that husky in the next cage of Penny omg I would travel to get that pupper if I had money and lived close(I don't want him to suffer a travel of several hours to azores and that can stress the poor pup) I hope him found a family that deserves him.

Yes, that looked like a bad match. Scary how they let little girl put her face right next to a dog's (especially an unfamiliar, untrained dog). Surprised shelter personnel didn't counsel better child/dog safety practices and parents were not protecting their child. Even a docile dog can bite if it becomes uncomfortable.
There’s a comfortable interview with their relative who says they have adopted before and this will be fine! Penny great with kid! They love her and it’s been two weeks already! Signs are good!

Well Rocky, I adopted a 1 year old grey/white/yellow female cat who came with the name Rocky, she is 19 years old now and she has been the most wonderful kit!!! Here is to all the great Rocky’s out there!!🎉🎉
I have adopted many dogs and many cats. I currently have two dogs and four cats. I have made provisions for them if something happens to me. They are with me for life through cancer, renal disease, cardiac, idiopathic neuropathy, hyperthyroidism, 3 legged, deaf, one eye. it doesn't matter. I know they would never give up on and I would never give up on them. Be from a shelter or as a stray they will never ever be without.

When i was in gradeschool transitioning into middle school, my dad surprised us with a dog. The local humane society was on my dad's way home from work. He would stop by periodically and check out the dogs. He'd walk in the kennel and all the dogs would be going crazy. Jumping up on the doors barking and begging for attention. Jake was a giant German shepherd mix who just was lying in his kennel, quiet, defeated. My dad left and returned again the next day. Same thing. He asked about Jake and was told that that next day was Jake's last day. He wasn't aggressive or old or sick...he just wasnt getting the attention and back then, most shelters were NOT no kill. He asked them to postpone so he could go home and talk with his family. The next day, he brought Jake home. Jake was an absolute teddy bear! Loving and kind. Respected the rules. He was such an amazing dog!

I get emotional I watch this videos for two drastically. Different reasons. One reason is to see all these beautiful dogs in the shelter dogs who did nothing wrong waiting for someone to come and love them and bring them home. The other reason I get emotional and literally start crying is when these beautiful babies find their forever home and get adopted.

I feel so bad for these dogs I wish I could take them all home but I can't afford that but if I could afford it I would I have trouble supporting myself right now.

I have my 5th rescue and it's my favorite breed. When I first bring them home I tell them...I didn't have you for the rest of your life but I have you for the best of your life. I only take seniors and I do my best to make their years happy and fun with lots of love.

i think the reason alot of dogs end up in shelters is not just abuse or neglect, its the fact that people dont educate and prepare themselves to have a dog and have it for a longterm! i understand there are circumstances that are sometimes out of our control, but i mean find a way if you really love that animal! i know alot of people that move or lose jobs or divorce and are in the middle of circumstances that were unplanned, and they find a way to make it work! its like any relationship, be it friendship or marriage, you find a way to make it work!
Kelly the dog was found as a stray, but doesn't seem to have a worry in the world, it's all an amazing and fun adventure.
So sad these animals had to be given up or abandoned. They just want to be loved.
