UV Chorale is already known as JRGVC or Jose Rivera Gullas Chorale last December 21, 2019 to honor it’s late founder Jose R. “Dodong” Gullas husband of it’s manager Nena Gullas. The Philippine Meistersingers (formerly the AUP Ambassadors). They won the coveted title, “Choir of the World 2011” in the 2011 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, receiving the Luciano Pavarotti Trophy. With this award. In 2012 they received a Philippine Congressional Proclamation recognizing their contribution to Philippine music and culture. They are also one of the national recipients of the 2012 Ani ng Dangal Awards for Music. The chorale was twice a prizewinner of the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA). In 2006 at the World Choir Games they won the Champion title for the Gospel and Spiritual category.
Amen to that! The new batch is beginning to have the “ethereal” sound. The transformation of their Paraiso sound is a classic example. The tenors seem to be impeccable. Basses is going there. We have yet to hear the woofer and sub woofer sound of basses.. If u are avid fan of Madz, you can recall these mega basses -from Sir Jojo, Sibaen G, Gelo F, Enrico L, Marvin Neil and many among others.. Check their Caritas et Amor and Riveder. You’ll surely love their Basses
The UP Madrigal Singers or Madz can be considered as the National Choir of the Philippines. They are the standard of excellence and winning tradition in the Philippine chorale scene. I was lucky to be part of the UE Chorale. Nakapagperform din with our sister choir back then UV Chorale, UPSA, UST Singers, DLSU, Ateneo Glee Club, and of course Madz. Marami pang magaling sa Pilipinas. Maganda yun intention ng video pero sana mas pinalawak pa yun research like sa UE and UV. Mga kapatid naman yan UV pero kulang sa info. UE humakot ng awards sa Europe. Back 2 Back Champion sa Busan, Korea etc. Good job tho! ❤
AGREE 111% - Philippine/Madrigal Singers!!! I was a member of our HS Choir, College Club Choir and Company Choir so I know a thing or two about choir or chorale singing.

Well... Line up is good though giving credit to PUP Bagong Himig who pioneered and stepped up with dynamic choreography that truly made every performance above the rest!
It was the UP Concert Chorus that pioneered dynamic choreography starting in the '60s under Professor Rey Paguio. They even branded their unique style of performing - choreoacapella.

Yes, though I must admit the Madz have changed...their past history is worth praising and must be forever remembered in the cultural annals of our nation.

@Agnus and @ Macario... is it possible that we need not fight on a personal level? i believe you both are better than this. Pinoy kayo. Lahi ng Mabubuti, ma respeto na mga Tao. Affected Lang tayo lahat sa toxicity ng SocMed. It's Holy Week. Let's enjoy that we have more and more Filipino Choirs to be in the International Scene. Dumami pa sna lahat sila. Even OA would love that am sure. God Bless you both passionate people 🤗
I think the best choir performance is one that shows tremendous amounts of vocal control and synchrony, to blend all your voices as one, from modulation, frequency to tone, so as no personal voice conspicuously leaves the choral frequency range, especially from the powerful tenor, soprano and bass. These voices are the most likely to violate that choral range, betrays their distinct personal voices and gives the music a rather uneven taste. And just as the colors of a rainbow, when combined becomes light, these individual voices should blend perfectly becoming an entirely different vocal identity/entity. It shouldn't be too warm (yellow) or too cold (blue). It should be that bright white light, exactly in the middle of the color temperature. This gives the listener the reinforcement in idea and context, that the choir's voice is of divine and heavenly origin.
Hi! Just a little correction on #10. The picture used is from our file, DLSU-Dasmariñas Chorale (in Cavite) headed by our then conductor Vell Litan, but our co-Lasallian DLSU (Manila) Chorale headed by late Professor +Rodolfo Delarmente is the actual #10 on the video. 🎶
Maraming magagaling but they have not endured the test of time or at par with the UP Diliman choirs (Philippine Madrigal Singers, UP Concert Chorus and UP Singing Ambassadors).
In my opinion, the Philippine Madrigal Singers should not have been included in this list as this group is in an another totally different level which the rest in the list only aspire to attain or at least approximate. It is like including champagne or vintage wine in a list of soft drinks or sodas.
@Macario Ofilida, FYI Imusicapella and Ateneo choir who are inclided among the top 10 list are both EGP qualifiers hence they are at par with Madz. . But I agree with you that Madz shoul not be included in the list because Madz as you brand them is like a vintage wine as most of the members of MADZ are npw relatively OLD compared to the members of the other choirs whose members are much YOUNGER(softdrinks ang tawag mo ) than the Madz singers hahaha.
How about the San Carlos Seminary college choir,(cebu).won the HIMIG NG LAHI competition consecutively 1982,1983, 1984.. defeated contestants ateneo and UP during the 1982 competition

First Filipino Choir who won in 2 categories in Busan International Choir Competition and held as a Grand Prix Champion. First and only Filipino Choir who won in 2 categories in Tokyo International Choir Competition. Grand Slam and Undefeated Winner in Musikahan sa Tagum and Gensan Summer Youth Fest Choral Competition. Truth, Madz is on the Pedestal already.
Whon do you think can beat madrigal singers in an international competition
@@dormamo6917 The Madz lost in the last 2017 EGP. I think it's about time for Madz to recruit younger members as most of the Madz singers are now old.

Not in the list as the ranking was made last year. In fairness UM Chorale 2022 batch is so good. I’ve seen their performance in Taiwan
not on the list kasi kulang pa achievements compared sa top 10
