500 miles Trip in an Electric Car - Peterborough to Minehead - Vauxhall Mokka E - Mokka E Range

  • I have started this channel as a novice and a new electric car owner. I will document the adventures of changing from Combustion/diesel engine to Electric vehicle.
    On this video, we take a summer Holiday to Butlins in Minehead travelling from our base in Peterborough. I had planned journey to charge in Swindon but the range on the vehicle was that great, I ended up going as far as Bristol without charge. I did struggle a bit in Bristol to find a charger but it was all in hand. We spent 3 days over the weekend having a well earned rest and travelled back a different route on the M5 which used up more Electricity in the car and I appeared too keen on the right foot just to get home therefore I needed 2 charges instead of 1.
    I can now say I am now properly immersed in EV driving and I do not suffer range issues anymore as I know I can always find a charger nearby one way or the other. Infrastructure has improved and still growing therefore I would recommend and encourage more people to save the planet by not burning fossil fuel.

    It’s not just the cost of the electricity at those rapid chargers to factor in, but the additional time spent looking for them, the waiting time and all the additional spend while you’re stopped as your likely to have your kids wanting stuff 😂. Great ‘real’ video 👍🏻

      @@letsgoelectriclge1320 Hi LGE! Tesla is very popular here in Hong Kong. In the past year, the Model Y is the most popular Tesla on the streets ... unfortunately, it has also featured in many road incidents (due to these rich Model Y owners being either new drivers or new EV drivers). My wife has had a Mokka e for about four months and we love it. Only two small issues, how the heck do you set the clock and the range meter is all over the place, you can go for several miles and it won’t change, then drop quite a few miles, then maybe even go up, so very confusing. Wonder if there is an update for that.

    • @letsgoelectriclge1320
      @letsgoelectriclge1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hello, awesome car for sure. The settings are on there somewhere, remember changing it might have to look at the corsaE and come back to you as we have taken it back as it was a courtesy car. The range should settle after some time and also depends on the driving style. The Mokka has % which is better so work on the % than the range figures. Let me know if you need anything else

    • @ukcarver
      @ukcarver 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your reply, great review by the way. Having posted my comment I went back out and managed to set the time. I agree the % is the one to watch. I went out this afternoon with 75 miles showing on the range, did 3 miles and got back with 79 miles showing.

    I'm awaiting delivery of a Mokka Ultimate but the petrol version. I suffer with anxiety and I think a long journey would have me on the edge and staring at the range all the time instead of the road 😱
    Also, I live in a flat so I think overnight home charging could be a problem 🤔

      Congrats on your new car. EVs just prepare you to prepare for your journeys and patience is required which makes you a better driver. Nowadays there is a charges not very far from you and I have found driving an EV to be a breeze. Yes I have to plan but it is way better than Petrol. Believe me when I say, you are using clean energy because the smell that I know smell when around petrol and Diesel cars is unreal. remember when smoking was banned and now when someone smokes next to you, you smell it from a mile. Thats how it is with EVs and ICE vehicles.

    Like your video, so I am planning a trip in my new mokka from nottinghamshire down to st Ives carbis bay, have you got any advice on where to stop and recharge on route,and how far would you recommend to travel and then pull in to recharge, it's around 346 miles
    Great vid

      @letsgoelectriclge1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi Sharon, sorry took me a while to come back but been looking at your journey and you are well covered to be fair. From Nottingham it is sending you to the down then M42 and M5 down south where it will now depend on your right foot and your anxiety levels. You have chargers all the way to be fair and Ecotricity will be my bet and some instavolts too which are reliable. Can i suggest you also download the Zap map which will be awesome and will map you through. Even the free one will do the job but you may need to write down your stops or to let the car tell you where to charge. I am afraid your trip is also long so will suggest 2 stops one a coffee and the other a lunch depending on your time of travel. Good luck and please to keep us posted how you get on. Last time I had a long journey i ended up with a bad back. I have recovered now but it was painful so schedule breaks a lot more.

    Did you drive all the way on eco mode? As we drove from suffolk to London which is 150 Miles or so but we nearly run out and had to charge at Harlow. And we was only doing 55mph was so boring lol

    • @letsgoelectriclge1320
      @letsgoelectriclge1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe so, I was impressed to get to Bristol without needing to charge but then again temps played a big role as l have discovered in winter, l would not dare think to have the same return l had on this trip.
      With time though, you do get comfortable with infrastructure and charging

      Hi Duncan! Cool mate, although l must point out that l don't have that car anymore as it was courtesy car while my CorsaE was being fixed. I had the MokkaE for 3 months in the end so that's when l filmed it.

    Hello EV owners. Got Mokka E last month. Has keyless entry but only problem is that it doesn't work on the very first attempt. Okay for the rest of the day and next day will do the same not opening without key. I found the mileage reading is not to calculate with only the%. I drive in ECO with B and on a short journey have more miles than when I started. Still getting used to all the Settings.

      Have you managed to get the app and account for your vehicle? If so check.if you have an update, might just need updating and bedding in too. Maybe it's a security feature they have for it. May l.aak.what color? The black one looks awesome with blacked out badge. It just looks beautiful. Don't you use the heating then as in Eco you can't get heating in the car? During winter I'm in B but in normal Mode

    • @paulrobson2323
      @paulrobson2323 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do get heating in Eco. I pre heat a few times. Normally have temp 22°. Got heated seats and steering wheel. Don't do very long journeys. Always turn off Lane Assist as it is to powerful and most of my roads are lane or B roads.

    • @paulrobson2323
      @paulrobson2323 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's GREEN with 18 inch Wheels

    • @letsgoelectriclge1320
      @letsgoelectriclge1320  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulrobson2323 yes l agree with Lane assist. It's weird that my CorsaE once you turn it off stays off unlike the MokkaE yet they are basically the same car just different body. I don't have the %on the battery on the corsaE either which is frustrating as the mileage figures are not in line with what is happening at all. I now ignore and look at the bars on the CorsaE

    • @paulrobson2323
      @paulrobson2323 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also have to put it in Eco every time otherwise it would stay in Normal. My readings on the App are different from the Car but that's not a problem. When I pre heat on App I don't get a choice of Temperature. Just turn on and off. Very comfortable seats. Got massage on drivers seat but doubt if I will use it.
