How to Set Up Parental Controls on iPhone or iPad

- To set up parental control on iPhone and iPad, open the Settings app.
Select screen time in the settings menu. Here, you can set downtime. Downtime allows you to block certain apps and only give access to apps you choose on an iPhone or iPad.
For downtime, you can set the same time each day or set a custom schedule.
Now you have to choose the apps that will be available on downtime.
Click always allowed.
Here, you can choose contacts and apps to be allowed during downtime.
Screen time also allows for setting app limits. This will limit the time allowed on each app.
You can choose entire categories or individual apps for this category.
The last option is content and privacy restrictions.
Make sure to set a screentime passcode, to make sure these settings don't get changed without your permission.

Thanks a lot. Together we just made my young daughter's life much harder.
We're in the same boat 🙄
thanks now I can get my parents to have less screen time
You can’t! Period

Wow, normally it would take me 3xs to watch a video to really understand, but you sir made it so easy and simple. Thanks!
This is a great video. Little sister just became old enough to start trusting with a phone however you just don’t give a young curious child a phone. You have to lead them in the right direction to use it. This was very informative and very helpful. Thank you
Thanks! Very helpful.
Thank you so much!!!
Going to try to talk my sister into using these for my nieces iPhones. One is on Tiktok for 10 hours a day and the other is on Minecraft even longer. Both of them with less than stellar performance in school. Every parent should be aware of these features and put them to use. They’ll hate it for a while but eventually they’ll get used to not being phone zombies.

Yes they will hate it but…. It will force them to something else. I didn’t get my first cell phone till I was 19 my mom gave it to me because she wanted to get a hold of me when I was at work. When I was a kid we played outside till it was dark .
Thank you so much for very simple way to make us understand almost everything 🙏

Thank you sir needed to fix in app purchases for my daughters iPad and this saved the day, I’m grateful for this video!
what ios update do you have to be updated to to be able to use these controls?
Thank you so much
awesome! thank you for being professional and easy to understand!
Can my family see if I change them?
I wanna have it so I can listen to explicit music on apple music cause some songs I found on stuff is labeled as explicit even though its not explicit. If my dad found out he would question me a lot.
Thanks it really helped
Thank you
Thank you 😅
You save me,,,,, thank you broo
Thank you! This was invaluable
Thanks buddy, you were a bit quick so I had to go back a few times and a few other things you skipped but your video helped me find my way. One thing to mention first is Apps like Life360 have location options. To make it so location can't be turned off you need to first setup the App settings and then turn the option to change that setting off. But your video was very helpful. Cheers.
Thank you 🙏 my daughters been using her phone all through the night this is a life saver! Also is there any way of splitting the down time in the day?
That would be nice, it was the first thing I wondered when browsing through this section.
Good stuff Thant
thanks
Hi, Can you help? I have a few Ipads that are on my apple Id. I want to use 2 of them for my kids now for school. How do I set them up with restrictions without it giving me restrictions on my other Apple devices? This is the part that is confusing to me.
Thanks you just saved me from a hugeeeee trouble
I swear man thanks
There are some educational link which keeps on changing and opens in safari. How to give access to those sites only?
This was a great video that allowed me to do exactly what controls were needed. TFS

hi. i set up a time limit for my kids' ipads, but there is the "ignore time limit" button below the screen. do you know how to disable this bypass?
Very useful description.
Can these parental controls be managed remotely from my own iPhone?
2 thumbs way up 👍👍
Thank you too much.
Parent’s make sure to select “block at downtime” otherwise they can bypass downtime. This is a great video but he missed that step for whatever reason.
Where is this setting?
There is still 1 min use option.
Any way to block everything?
They can change date and time and bypass it it is as simple as that
Useful video. However, I found that downtime has an option called ignore downtime for today which does not require the password. This means kids can stay on at will. Am I missing something?
I have the same concern. You can literally bypass this
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. you wouldnt believe how hard it was for me to find a comprehensive video for our complex needs. When you resrrict an app to one hour A-day does it add up each time they log on throughout the day (4xs for 15 mins) or do they have to spend that 1 hour on the app at 1 time?
it's cumulated on the day. So if you use 30min of that app in the morning, you still only have 30min left for the whole day and then it'll block access to it because of the time limit. And it will reset the next day at midnight
When they open up apps that have been limited it just says ignore limit and they can play it? How do I get rid of the ignore button?
If you have the passcode enabled they can ask for 1 more minute, other wise you have to put in the passcode
Very useful. Thanks
How do you fix the you cant sign in here it does not let me sign in my email account
thanks so much for such a detail video super helpful since i have now a teenage daughter that i need to set up some limits on Phone usage.

hello, thanks for the video. i am going to send my old iphone to change the glass screen and body. but i dont want to reset it. how can i peremenantly set it until i can get back my iphone from the repair shop?
planninh to set the screen time, and also turn off passcode so that they can easily test when done repairing. but i am scared all my those data been seen. thanks in advance 🙏🏻
Is it possible to block the settings or to set a passcode in order to make any changes.
Thanks but is this the kids phone or the parents phone? Does the child need her own device under her Apple ID to be controlled by the parent with the settings you show here? What does the child device show when these limitations are in place? Are there visible timers on the child’s device so that they know how much time they have left? Is there a way for the child to learn how to manage their own screen time so that they start learning the idea of time management which would be a great thing to learn early on.
Thanks now I can put parental controls on my phone so that my parents can't figure out the password
Can We Lock Their Phone While They Are Online While Anytime We Want ?
So if I am understNding this, I set these parental conrols but can't they undo them?
But what about tracking. Can it be made so that my teen doesn’t shut off any gps to track were they are?
My son’s screentime everyday is 45 MINUTES which is WAY TOO MUCH and he should be spending much more time with his family.
In my opinion 45 min is really short
45 mins and u think its more??? Im sure for u 4.5 hours wouldn't be enough
Pretty extreme opinion
I set up “all apps and catergories” to the limit of 3 hours per day. However, My daughter can use the it for 5 hours a day. Is limiting “all apps and categories” for 3 hours meaning all combined apps, safari, youtube, and others for 3 hours? Or it is each app for 3 hours?
I tried to customize the time, but after I hit back, it goes back to default, and same thing for allowed apps, what am I doing wrong?
Hi, I locked my child's device down, but when I first did this a year ago, I didn't realize the importance of having a separate screen time passcode from the iPad passcode. So I tried to change the screentime passcode, but evidently I locked that down by accident too. So the change screentime passcode is missing. Can you help?
Is this tutorial for my phone or my kids phone?
This video is great for understanding but most kids will try to open the app and be granted access by disabling limit for 1 min, 15mins or ALL DAY limit which is ridiculess. My Son can just simply disable the apps 'Downtime' with 2 clicks. Is there a way to ensure downtime is ACTUALLY DOWNTIME?! TIA
But how do you their phones connected to yours ?
Kids are way ahead of this- what is stopping them changing all this back normal?
I just did it, use the screen time passcode that only you know. He shows the screen time passcode in the beginning of this video.
That way they can’t change it. I even put down time from 10pm to 6am daily and I put a two hour limit on social apps available for 9+
All this and I just got called a witch. 😂 don’t care but.
Thank you so much for your help ❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂I have done my daughter phone
How soon will it be installed from today
or tomorrow
Excellent! If I set this up on my son's iPhone, do I have to go through all the same stages on his iPad too, or will they be set automatically?
Yea you’ll have to set it up again for iPad

Many thanks!
What about a no? Stop being a strict parent.
@liselilerindram9916 lmao I have a feeling you are the child of a good parent that doesnt allow you on your phone 20 hours a day 😂😂
I set up app limits but none of them took hold. Why is that? Does all of this need to be fed through downtime?
If my parents stumble across this video, im gonna report it.
How do i set a passcode that even when they click on ignore for the rest of the day they still cant use it
But what is stopping my child from going into these settings on their phone after I change them, to change them back?
The password

Great now I can less my lil bro screen time🤩
How do you prevent child from figuring out how to turn off downtime from settings ?
Whenever I make restrictions, they disappear after a few days. This is a constant problem. Any suggestions?
Just want to block specific apps. Can’t find a way to do that.
I’m trying to add times where I don’t want my child to use the tablet and it’s still blocking them with time frames added
Tq
The app limits only limit screen time, not audio time. So if a long playlist of music or videos is programmed before app limits ends, the audio will continue to play indefinitely.
Listening to music is healthy.
Is it possible to block one specific app (i.e instagram)? Preventing app download is one way, but that's too inconvenient and not needed for my case.
I guess what I would do is download Instagam, set the screen time for Instagram to 0 per day, then disallow deleting apps.
Now your kid can't access Instagram or delete instagram to re-download.
@@salsaSamuel Yoo guys
I got mine phone fixed on Instagram after watching videos on you Tube but no one could helped me
he is legit💓💓💓
every kid should watch this to know how to turn it off
Still there is ignore button on for ignoring the time limit. U can click ignores it for the whole day. I hope hitting that button will need a pssrwd
If my son has an iphone and i have an android, can i control this from my android? Thanks
Please tell me how I can set zero minute on games, or where should I click to block/restrict all games?
By simply being a good parent.
Can we add multiple time limit for single day for downtime?

When downtime is set, all that happens is that the phone reminds you when it’s downtime, but you’re able to bypass it by clicking “allow for today” (something like that).
Thanks for that info
Not if you click “block at downtime”
It's called one more minute or something
Had to set up screen time for my sister. A minute ago she came to me showing she could skip screen time for a minute, 15 minutes or for the whole day.
I feel disappointed in Apple. This looked so good when setting everything up. But now the whole ‘pincode’ thing doesn’t make sense anymore.
Select block at downtime.
This still doesn’t stop you from getting into that app. An option pops up that says ignore limit time. 👎
Can i set this up from my device? Or do I need to be on my kid's device?
On your kids
I want to set parental control on my daughters IPhone not on my phone. So is there a way I can monitor her phone usage from my phone?
I recommend screen zen
Great video, does it also blocks my kid from changing his login password?
“ why don’t my kids talk to me “
Ayden and Cody was setting up Parental Controls, for Tiana.
Is there an option to limit the contacts they add? Like if you don’t want a certain kid to contact your kid anymore how do I prevent their contact number to be added since I only know of the block number option. Thanks
Don’t be so strict. That’s the solution.
@@liselilerindram9916some parents actually care about their kids futures.
@@DomskiOKKK that’s not the best way.

Nah
Kids can ignore limit 😂
I did the same thing for my daughter but some how she gets an option says ignore time and setting screen time didn’t work
Good
I did that so he can’t add contacts but he still can
Coming from Android, I like the way android does it much better. Ok Android there is an app on the parents phone that you control all this through, and can remotely add more time on limits if needed. The one thing I like better on apple is that you can allow certain apps and contacts in downtime. So even if it is late at night and they are not using their phone they can call us and we can call them.
Until they hard factory reset their phone
Android allows them to call you (and vice versa) in night mode, but I love that you can allow specific apps on Apple. Family Link on Android is super nice though. I wish there was a good combination of the two that wasn't a paid app.

I find family link much more useful than screen time. Granted... That is in an Android. Not sure about the experience on iOS
Why would apple include ignore app limit and make it near impossible to setup something else. Pretty much pointless just noticed my daughter had been ignoring the limit for the last few months.
How do I make it so my child can’t just click “turn off screen time”
That is the million dollar question everyone ignores.
enter a passcode and then they can't.

@@Sayouria tough sh!t guess everyone locked out now
Haha, wonder y? Maybe there r trust issues in the family? Not always the child’s fault
