I have just read Wynonna's book Coming Home To Myself. if you haven't read it, do yourself a favor & read it. So vulnerable, genuine, & transparent. One thing I noticed about Wynonna's book that I notice about the lyrics she likes is that they are both constructive. There is no artifice, there is nothing decadent. I was at a gathering of some folks..many years ago now--and I was asked to share some of my life story. A few things had just recently happened. My grandmother was now gone. My mother was also now gone. And my son was attacked by some thugs to steal whatever he had. They took whatever money he had, and his sack of beer...and then slashed his arm with a sword. I had not been sober very long--really. But as I was sharing I looked up to Heaven and I asked this: how strong do you think I am? Several days came and went...one day I realized I did not have the strength that I needed : BUT for the grace of God, I learned that I certainly needed any strength I could get from Him who sits upon the Throne in Heaven. So now I know without any doubt that whatever I'm facing...He will help me. I hope this encourages somebody today. We are never alone...it "feels" like it ..but we are loved by god and in this there is no fear..only Awe of the One who fights for us. amen
