    This is a fantastic beginner video because the problem with starting a new thing is that you can't imagine the exact process, because there's a lack of experience. Going step by step with a practical example makes it easier to imagine doing it yourself. Thanks so much for this!

    Thank you for such a clear and concise explanation that is straight to the point with no BS! I watched a few other videos before this one and they had me totally confused and left me feeling overwhelmed, but you did an amazing job explaining everything in layman's terms for those of us who are new to this. I'm new to both Robinhood and to investing. I signed up for Robinhood about a year or so ago, but never did anything with it, so I already have an account with them. I'm going to start very small and invest my first $20 in the stocks that were recommended to me by the app and see where this goes!

      Personally I'm a long-term holder, aiming to grow a huge portfolio, so I rarely sell since my goal is to grow to $1 million. I will do a video for you to explain how all of that part works in the future. As far as if you do sell, you do get your money almost right away as long as the market is open. Keep in mind there are taxes that come with the sale (and profit/capital gain) of any stock.

I get in, buy when low then sell when high. How will the money I made be taxed from Robinhood? Does Robinhood charge a fee to cash out gains over a certain amount ?

      Going forward, just research what you want to invest in. Are you gonna swing trade? That's short term like 3 weeks max. Long term investing like 8 to 10 years. Then you can do mid term investments of 2 to like 5 years. Then there's day trading. Robinhood does not allow day trading. That's where you buy and then sell everything bye the end of the day or market close

    Hi Bob, this was a very simple to understand and informative. I see myself spending $500-1000 a year with this app and roughly $10-20 a week. With that, is there a time of the week that I should pick to "invest" my weekly $10-20? I am willing to monitor daily, however I am no where near an expert in investing, somewhat novice/intermediate. I use a CFP with 401K and Roth IRA...but I see this as "fun money investing" and I am ok with winning or losing it. Thanks in advance!

    • @vitorsalles5919
      @vitorsalles5919 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      No, there's no specific timing to invest, just buy and hold what you believe and understand the reasons behind the company and your investment so you won't freak out . And only monitor it once upon a time. That said, two more tips: first, save the weekly money and make your investments once a month, it's way better to keep up and manage your portfolio. Second, diversify between asset types, stocks, reits, treasuries... Cheers!

    I would love to see them either move the "buy" and "sell" buttons across from eachother, or maybe a green "buy" and a red "sell"
    I made that mistake.
    I was able to just back and rebuy what I ment to buy, so the investment numbers were the same, it it wasted my cost average, so the specs for that stock are off by like 11% 😒
    So READ IT TWICE!

    So with these platforms reporting taxes how would a veteran go about taxes, if they receive non taxable retirement but invest with Robin Hood? Would it have to be reported? If so how do the report investments ? Will there be a form available from Robin Hood during tax time that can be filed even though one does not have a W2?

    This video presentation is groundbreaking for beginners who think the whole stock market is WAY too confusing, convoluted, and dangerous. You should be the spokesperson for Robinhood. I do have a question though, how are taxes factored into your gains? Are you sent a tax form at the end of each year with your earnings on it?

    • @BobSharpe
      @BobSharpe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question! That will show you your portfolio balance in: 1 Day (1D), 1 Week (1W), 1 Month (1M)...etc to (ALL) which means your entire time you had Robinhood. If you look at the top it'll also show how much you gained, or lost, during each period of time that you select.
      I always like to look at the 1Y (1 Year) so I can see how much I grew in the last year. With my experience, usually 1D-3M can be quite volatile and either show you gains or losses. The year gives you a good snapshot of how your portfolio is tracking in the longer term.

    Thank you for sharing. I was planning to start with Acorn because I don't really have any idea about investing. Then I saw your video, and I am interested to learn more about robinhood. I have a quick question; how much percentage does the IRS will charge you from the interest you've made?

    • @BobSharpe
      @BobSharpe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad it was helpful! The IRS tax laws are quite large and I'm not a tax expert, but what I do know is they won't charge taxes unless you get either (1) Dividends or (2) Sell your Stocks for capital gains. If you leave it in a portfolio it'll be fine unless the tax law changes or one of the two scenarios occur.

    Hey just a quick question can you use credit cards to add funds into robinhood?

    • @BobSharpe
      @BobSharpe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Robinhood uses Plaid to transfer money into your account. As long as your bank allows that it could work (just be sure you keep an eye on bank fees that may come along with that). The free and best way I’d recommend is linking up your bank account via ACH (this way you can deposit money from Robinhood into your bank account too)

    Tell me if I'm crazy or unrealistic, but if I had 10K to invest and buy 100 shares at $100, and it goes up to $108 a share. That means I made $800. Right? Even if it takes 1 or two weeks to see it go up, that's still $800. Am I missing something
