Saw one of these pop up on Reddit a couple of weeks ago, and immediately sent it to a former co-worker, who is a lifetime rider, and has recently invested in an array of ego equipment. Neither of us knew it existed. Pretty sure he's going to add one to his collection. I inherited a house in the woods, and a low-powered sweeper wouldn't cut the mustard. I got their blower, and I'm absolutely tickled with it. Until you drop one of those batteries on your foot. By far the heaviest modular battery pack I've ever owned. Putting three of those on that bike, has got to add like 80 lb LOL
OUCH!! Yes, they are definitely heavy. EGO does a great job with their lawn and landscape tools. In fact, they're probably the reason that battery power is an option in OPE now. Their blowers, string trimmers, and mowers paved the way for the rest of the industry. This minibike is a great little ride and it's so quiet. Thanks for watching.
This is why things like the Tesla Semi and the Roadster are complete failures. The size of the batteries needed to do what they're claiming weigh more than the vehicles they're put in. This seems like a decent tradeoff, you get 20 miles on two batteries with a third battery "just in case".
Wow, the Chevette I was embarrassed to drive in high school only had 13" rims. Also this thing looks very cool - but please, Ego, give me a golf chart. I love the idea of cruising around my gated community using the battery from my leaf blower.
Here for an update. Just put 700 miles on mine and it's running like a champ. Not an exaggeration when I say I get a compliment every time I ride it. One thing I'd like in the future is a power inverter where the spare battery compartment is and a 3 battery buying option. I picked up the 400w inverter and found a 10ah battery at Goodwill for $40😀. I use it to power my heated blanket while camping and love it. Last thing I'd like to see is a street legal one. My city is cool with me riding it on the streets but it'd be nice to take it to the beach, 400 miles from home.

I have an ego lawnmower 6 years old and same battery still going strong I convert my 24 V scooter with the seat and put the ego battery on it gets 18 miles on 1 battery charge. I did put a step down converter in it.and I can carry 3 batteries with me
We had a 2005 Honda crf 50f 50cc dirt bike. It was awesome. But I’ve never seen a mini bike from ego. Awesome. I do have 2 of their tools and love them.
For such a high quality looking piece of equipment, I really was expecting for it to be more money. I have a 750W ebike that costs as much as this does without its batteries, but it isn't nearly as well engineered as this Ego mini bike seems to be. I'd have so much fun with this thing.

I have 9 of their batteries and weigh 165 lbs. The bike was made for me! That said, the $2K price with the 2 7.5 Amp batteries and the dual charger is the better deal than the $1,300 bare bike. This came just in time to blow a chunk of my tax return.
I work at race track festivals getting spectators out of the way of paddock traffic. I've been doing it with an electric longboard and rode my BMX during it's 4 hour charge, but now with 11 batteries, I can escort those race cars, tweeting a whistle for the entire time the track is hot. And if you haven't caught the genius of this on your own, the way I'm doing it is a sound financial decision. Spending $2K of tax return on a $2K tax write off.
Great review. I would have liked to hear what the bike sounded like from the camera position as you were driving around, what was the rattle? Also, some more driving tests, maybe up an incline, a braking test, wide shots of the bike driving and maneuvering. I wish the bike was a bit taller. I am tempted but a bike with a $900 gas tank is hard to swallow when it will probably only last 2-5 years.
Got one today. Lowe's is moving out summer equipment and these are going with them. I got the 1,999.00 for 1,925.00 total, 10% discount, and love it. You can tell it's made to last. Over built for my cruising needs. Ask for discount, you might get it.
It runs on one battery but can run on two with the 2nd battery the 3rd battery is use a spare battery in case your battery starts to run low so you don't get stranded 🔋👍
Saw one at the local ACE hardware, pretty impressive. I do wish the range was closer to 35 miles or so. Should be a good commuter, good base for accessories such as bags, windshield or luggage rack.
I have the two stage snowblower and the big leaf blower. If I run out of power in the snowblower, the single small leaf blower battery will handle some snow so I’d think it could run the bike for a ways in eco mode. I think it’s 5Ah versus the two 7.5Ah.

Solid wheels or pneumatic tires? What's the top speeds in the normal and eco modes? Will it still do 28 mph after the total available amp hour drops below 10?
They have pneumatic knobby tires that are great for off road riding, but make a slight humming noise on paved roads. It goes 15mph in eco-mode, 20mph in normal mode and 25 to 30mph in sport mode, depending on how much you weigh. With two 7.5 amp hour batteries, it will remain in sport mode until they're both completely drained. With one 7.5 amp hour battery, it will only go 15mph and sport mode can't be activated. The range is around 20 miles. I ordered two 12 amp hour batteries for it, so those figures could all change. The figures l listed apply when using the two 7.5 amp hour batteries provided with the bike. If you have other EGO tools and a charger, it's actually a better idea to buy the bike bare tool and buy two 12 amp hour batteries separately. Hope this helps
0:20 Funny laugh. There's a storage compartment for a 3rd battery. Seems to me like for a few dollars they could have put wires and a connector there, so you'd run 3 batteries in parallel. Very cute bike!
It's actually a good idea to leave it that way. Your kid goes out on it kills the batteries then sticks in the 3rd and has to ride it back. all 3 hooked up you'd just run it out and be stuck. My dirt bikes as a kid I've run them out loads would flick the reserve on and go home to fill up.
This is innovative and ergonomic It just makes sense and works great Happy to see a company that’s pushing boundaries and kicking ass at the same time in this shit economy!
It only uses the a single battery. The batteries are in parallel. Voltage does not change when more batteries are added but amperage raises. Hence needing batteries that add up to 10 AH for sport mode.
The price isn't horrible, but seems a little silly when you consider I can get one of their own riding lawnmowers that actually performs a job for pretty much the same price. But if you're in the EGO environment and already have all their useful tools that you need... this probably is a fun little toy.
@TheDwightMamba huh? The extra battery was a comment, not a question. I watched the video I know it won't run on sport. The comment was "the reason they allow for that 3rd battery is because when the other 2 die you still need to get back home". No one's going to lug around the massive charger ego gives you. ( I own the mower) Other electric bikes chargers are not massive
Do you think it could push a small car 20 feet at a time for 200 feet? Random question I know! We drag race and use a old golf cart in the staging lanes. We use an aluminum pole as a push rod.
For 1299 if you have batteries already this is a steal. You can currently get a mower with a 7.5ah and 5ah battery for 599. So for the price difference you can lose 2.5ah and get a 21 inch self propelled lawnmower.
Not a bad idea to jump into the platform, but I can't imagine people starting with the bike alone. In the flooded E-Bike market, most people don't recognize the EGO name.
That’s a lot of things for a bike that only goes 30MPH. Looks great for a first bike for practice. Wish I’d used something like this before I road 125cc and electric 7K watt bikes
@@Shoptoolreviews, so it will run in sports mode with only 1x 10ah or 12ah battery? Its a little ambiguous if it needs 10ah or more of battery SIZE, or 10ah or more of REMAINING CHARGE. If your theory is correct that it runs on 2x batteries in parallel when in sports mode, it means it’s rather sophisticated or else will give you a notification that your two packs are not equalized and cant be placed in parallel. That 3rd battery slot, basically your reserve tank, is strange because if you drained 2x 7.5ah packs in sports mode and then replaced one dead pack with the fresh reserve pack, obviously the circuit won’t allow them to go into parallel right away. So does this situation disable sports mode or does the ebike start to slowly transfer energy from the fully charged pack into the dead pack so that it can eventually connect them in parallel? Seems like this bike with 3x 12ah packs would be great.
Mid-Augusr price 2024, $1299 at Lowes no batteries included. I thought they were $2000 + tax, plus shipping, maybe. Maybe in a few years, im pedaling my electric bike for now.
Any word on if it will accept bigger batteries than the 7.5. Super curious if it will accept the 10 or even 12ah batteries? Looking at the battery compartment, it doesn’t look like there is room.
@@timbaker3755 thanks so much!! I’ve been looking all over for that info and couldn’t find it. I’ve yet to see any battery booger than 7.5 in there so that’s great news.
$2000 with batteries? That's honestly not bad. Sure, you could get a gas bike from your neighbor for $150, but I was expecting upwards of 4-5k just because it's EGO. For another $500, maybe they could make it a bit bigger and use three batteries. I do wonder, however, can you charge the batteries on the bike or do you have to take them out every time?
Considering the price of regular e bikes $2k really isn’t that bad, now I wonder if you use two stronger batteries and add another wheel motor to the front how fast it would go
dont be its trash... my company bought their stuff to use for our daily maintenance work to cut down on gas cost here and there, as well as every other brand... Milwaukee has been the best thing going
do you think the ego mini would pull a light weight trailer and a quartered out deer maybe 110 # 's total . The trailer would be like the ones they sell for the hunting e bikes that cost 4 to 6 grand, just a thought. i would be using 10 or 12amp batteries. I am a ego user . it would be used on ohio farm land fairly level . thanks for any relies , my 185#
Things that you missed is I don't think you told us how many watts the motor is and you also did not tell us if it can take the 10 amp hour batteries or if it is limited to only being able to have the biggest battery of 7 and 1/2 amp hours.
If you add a budget Amazon license plate bracket that comes off the rear axle then you can probably get it registered as a moped in most states. That sport mode hits the moped requirements of not exceeding 30mph and having a 20 mile range really ain't bad saying as a Honda Navi doubles in price after dealership fees. I'd definitely add road tires for that though
Tell ego we need a utility cart with a solid sized truck bed for around the ol homestead. Woupd also be nice if said cart would have some nice clips or addons to attatch our other ego products like leaf blower and trimmer to tag along with us!!!!
I have a few ego products love it, but this bike is high at $1300. I like how batteries are interchangeable on all ego. I dont like hoe sports mode require 2 batteries.... Ill stick to my Gen1 lectric XP bike at $800 with charger and battery and goes about the same 28mph 20miles range.. thanks for thr review.
I find it amazing the bike is smart enough to know it can’t deliver peak amps with less that a 10ah battery or combined capacity if the packs can. E connected in parallel. Every lithium ion pack sold has a BMS, and if it’s a good BMS it will not allow the battery peak discharge to exceed rated value. Imagine if it allowed you to put 1x 2.5ah pack in and discharge at 40a (20c), that pack would either shut down in 3 seconds or suffer damage. So by saying (10ah combined capacity), to give the same peak 40a its only 4c, well within any decent li-ion pack. $1300 is a little pricy for a ebike without battery and then another $1600 for 3x 12ah batteries, $3900 for a 56v24ah+12ah ebike. Its only practical if you already in the EGO ecosystem and have lots of their batteries.
@@EJ-74 , yes, $2000 with 2x 7.5ah batteries or $1300 ala cart if you have compatible batteries. If somehow you found a bunch of batteries at a garage sale for $20 each then its worth $1300 to buy this thing if you have a place to ride it.
That’s a good question, assuming it can do regen braking you will probably loose brake pressure but the electric motor may help to stop, someone has to have an answer to this question
For 2 little batteries like that? I say it’s not bad. Besides mini bikes aren’t really meant for range l, who is riding over 20 miles hunched over on a mini bike? Maybe your uncle Larry eho Got his 4th DUI.
"UP TO 20 miles." Which at 20 mph would only be an hour of ride time. Assuming you weren't doing any hard acceleration and didn't use "sport mode." So very likely you will get less than an hour of run time per charge, which isn't much for such a slow bike. @LostLeftyLimb
Im 6'3 240 and I can still ride it. It's a bit small, but it's super fun to ride! It tops out at 26mph with me on it, but that's with two 7.5 amp hour batteries. I ordered two 12 amp hour batteries, so Hopefully they'll make it a little faster. My Daughter weighs 140 and it goes 30mph with her on it.
I'm getting at least 50 miles out of a 36 volt AH battery on my fat tire folder. Wind and a person's weight greatly affect battery life. I only weigh 150#, but I carry 30 pounds in my saddle bags, when shopping. And I pedal a lot in PAS 2. 😃

I hate to admit it but this is the coolest thing a power tool company has done.
Awesome review bro. If only I had somewhere to ride it😢
Same here. Just paved public roads for miles and miles.
I would like to see some of the other battery platforms come out with something like this...
But make it street legal as well.
If it hasn't been mentioned yet, to get to sport mode, you have to take off the seat and flip the switch on in the rear area.
How many watts is the motor?
That’s a lot of things for a bike that only goes 30MPH. Looks great for a first bike for practice. Wish I’d used something like this before I road 125cc and electric 7K watt bikes
Do the higher Ah batteries fit?
1300 not bad at all considering I paid 850 for the mower that puts me to work... I'm going to buy one to cool off after mowing
Love that idea lol joy ride after completing a job
TIM IF YOU CAN SEE IF THE 10 or 12 AMP Battery CAN FIT
Yes, we put both the 10Ah and 12Ah batteries in with no problem.
@@Shoptoolreviews now I can Buy it Bare tool because I have a 10 and 12 amp batteries thanks TIM
Seems like this bike with 3x 12ah packs would be great.
can i put two 12amp batteries? or how about one 12amp and one 5amp?
Yes, the 12Ah battery will fit with no problem. You can run a 12 and a 5 or any other size EGO batteries. Thanks for watching.
There are plenty of applications for this that people would enjoy. Pretty slick!
We agree and it's totally fun!. Thanks for watching.
It takes all batteries. The storage compartment also stores all battery sizes.
@@timbaker3755 thanks so much!! I’ve been looking all over for that info and couldn’t find it. I’ve yet to see any battery booger than 7.5 in there so that’s great news.
My pleasure! Glad I could help
There’s only a few ego products that actually won’t accept 10 and 12 ah batteries unusual considering all batteries fit all ego products
What about blankets?
Can I drop in 2x 10 AH batteries or is it only built to hold the 7.5 AH ones?
Considering the price of regular e bikes $2k really isn’t that bad, now I wonder if you use two stronger batteries and add another wheel motor to the front how fast it would go
The puppy loves it!!! ❤
I would be curious to see if it can pull you up a steep hill
I hate Ego!!!!! Because I don’t have any of their equipment!!!
Lol
Have About $5000 worth of the 56 VOLT OPE
I just went on that platform 😂😂
Exactly……should have bought their leaf blower and chainsaw
dont be its trash... my company bought their stuff to use for our daily maintenance work to cut down on gas cost here and there, as well as every other brand...
I am a ego user . it would be used on ohio farm land fairly level . thanks for any relies , my 185#
Does this model not have arrow lights, left and right?
How much hours do it take until lowbat in 3 battery?
I wonder if one could mod the storage port into an active one?
Looks like a blast. But cha ching! I think I will try to convert an old one. Thanks for the idea!
So can we ride it on sidewalks or through the neighborhood? I would like ride to the park on the other side of my neighborhood.
super affordable!!!! totally getting one of theses
when compared to the size of the honda grom are they about the same?
The Grom is bigger. This is closer to the Honda Monkey.
Nice review! Question tho, What is the seat height?
The batts run in parallel to provide the amps needed without over amping a single battery, which will ruin the battery.
Campground runabout? Same batteries as your lawnmower?
I have a few ego products love it, but this bike is high at $1300. I like how batteries are interchangeable on all ego. I dont like hoe sports mode require 2 batteries.... Ill stick to my Gen1 lectric XP bike at $800 with charger and battery and goes about the same 28mph 20miles range.. thanks for thr review.
The electronical features, hydraulic brakes, full suspension and reverse put it leaps ahead of anything in its category
It said 2000k with batteries If I read that right lol
@@EJ-74 , yes, $2000 with 2x 7.5ah batteries or $1300 ala cart if you have compatible batteries. If somehow you found a bunch of batteries at a garage sale for $20 each then its worth $1300 to buy this thing if you have a place to ride it.
@@imho7250 Thanks for the info
Where are dirección lights?
Sounds like rattling plastic sleds lol , what kinda suspension does this have ?
What happens when you run out of blinker fluid in the containers on handle bars?
That’s a good question, assuming it can do regen braking you will probably loose brake pressure but the electric motor may help to stop, someone has to have an answer to this question
You may have mentioned this, I kinda fast forwarded a few times, but batteries also come in 7, 10, and 12amp
Very cool! Wonder if EGO will make an ATV?
20 miles is long range?
For 2 little batteries like that? I say it’s not bad. Besides mini bikes aren’t really meant for range l, who is riding over 20 miles hunched over on a mini bike? Maybe your uncle Larry eho
Got his 4th DUI.
"UP TO 20 miles." Which at 20 mph would only be an hour of ride time. Assuming you weren't doing any hard acceleration and didn't use "sport mode." So very likely you will get less than an hour of run time per charge, which isn't much for such a slow bike.
@LostLeftyLimb
How are these on steeper hills?
How does this compare to the Greenworks Mini bike?
I have several EGO products, and I would really like this. It looks very small however. Im 5’10 230…. Anybody have any thoughts?
Im 6'3 240 and I can still ride it. It's a bit small, but it's super fun to ride! It tops out at 26mph with me on it, but that's with two 7.5 amp hour batteries. I ordered two 12 amp hour batteries, so Hopefully they'll make it a little faster. My Daughter weighs 140 and it goes 30mph with her on it.
With a hub motor, does it have battery regeneration?
Pretty cool. Kinda odd that the 3rd battery storage place wasnt used as an active port though.
What's the max passenger load?
For how much it costs I’d want more range
I'm getting at least 50 miles out of a 36 volt AH battery on my fat tire folder. Wind and a person's weight greatly affect battery life. I only weigh 150#, but I carry 30 pounds in my saddle bags, when shopping. And I pedal a lot in PAS 2. 😃
I didn’t know I needed one of these until I saw it. Great for camping and going to the shooting range.
Whoops hit it too early meant to also ask can you upgrade to 12ah batteries on this bike ? I do see it on ego store for $599
So the 10a batteries from my 24” snowblower should give me a bit of extra range..
Yes, you will get more runtime with the 10Ah batteries from your snow blower. Thanks for watching.
Fascinating and fun looking! It’d make a cool toy to rip around the farm with
It's really a fun little ride.
