I understand why Ai thinks that Sentarou betrayed her, in the situation she was in. But it seems that heaps of audiences also thinks that he betrayed her. I don't see how though, how does he betray her? he tried his best to protect her until the very end, what else can he do? He was outnumbered a whole village to one, when he had the chance to protect her there were people holding him back. There was absolutely nothing else he can do, if he resisted, they probably would have killed him as well.
Ai was very young that time and since she was hidden most of her life, she knew nothing much about the world exept the cruelty of her village. Her love for sentaro made her rely and trust on him too much so when she saw Sentaro buried her, she was overwhelmed by the pain of betrayal and anger. I was wandering if Ai have even ever heard of the villagers convincing sentaro to betray her while she was underground. Am thinking maybe she didnt heard it clear, coz 1st is maybe the villagers were not loud enough for ai to hear underground. 2nd. Maybe her ears got injured as well. Or 3 maybe the underground is too deep, she didnt hear the entire convo. Thus misunderstanding sentaro thinking he betray her when in fact he was just forced. So in conclusion. Maybe Ai was too young and relied too much to sentaro plus she didnt hear clear the villagers convincing sentaro to betray her thats why she thinks sentaro betrayed her and thus Hell Girl was born after her fury and rage. I agree. I mean they were guilting him. I remember a woman saying: "if my milk does not start flowing my baby will die". Seriously, a dead baby was gonna be on his conscious. Shortly after this she rises from the dead in a state of uncontrollable rage and razes her village to the ground, leaving only a handful of survivors. after she sated her revenge, her spirit was bound to be dragged to hell for it, but a mysterious force whom I assume is one of the masters who keeps hell in order offered to let her stay on earth and I think repay her transgressions by becoming something of an envoy for hell on earth. A website was set up and people can enter the names of someone they truly hate into it and be given the opportunity to send that person to hell ( this part you already know) over the course of the series you will notice Hajime-san starting to come into the picture, his presence becomes more and more prevalent until his story emerges into the plot. he is actually the descendent of the boy who buried her alive against his wishes, but he has the striking features of that boy, leading Ai to believe the boy has come back to harm her again. does that make sense to you?
Makes perfect sense. It's too bad she blames Sentaro though because he loved her and was obviously doing it against his wishes. I feel like she was associating Hajime with the villagers who buried her rather than Sentaro himself. But that's probably just me.
