    I do not know if anyone is going to see this comment, but there is something special you pointed out in this video that i would like to explain a bit. the plant that you talked about outside the entrance of the cave is sacred Datura, you are correct. what is really interesting though is how that plant correlates to the cave. typically when this plant is found outside of a cave or area that native Americans used, it is indicative that the spot is considered sacred to them. the reason for this is because (please do not try this, you could die) native Americans used this plant for hallucinating in sacred rituals. that may also explain the smoke stains withing the cave. so next time you are out and about exploring and you see Datura, you may be in a sacred, or once sacred spot. also, next time you see that plant, rub your fingers on the leaves and smell it. it has a peanut butter scent :)

    This was a very short and sweet video. Never been in a cave like this before and it's cool to see that there are ways to go for experienced climbers and beginners alike.

    Some folks he live in SoCal in particular have this perception that there aren't very many wilderness areas around, or there aren't ones worth going to(rightfully so), but as you prove and in my own experience there are actually a lot of great gems all over CA!

    Love checking out caves like that. I bet the inhabitants of days gone by would be shocked to see the city residing next to their cave.

      +smetlogik That's exactly what I was thinking! This cave is ancient, and (pending any catastrophic earthquakes) will remain ancient for centuries to come.

    Cool cave. Too bad people feel that they need to spray paint on the walls. I bet it would be cool to camp in there. Is that allowed?
    I'm glad that I found Thomas' adventures on here. It reminds me of my trip to Nevada.

    • @gokucrazy22
      @gokucrazy22 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the Woods with Bigfoot
      you generally dont want to camp in caves, especially not in Southern California. There's a big risk of the cave collapsing and if you want a fire, the heat can cause it to cave in.
      edit: That being said, you probably theoretically can, considering Native Americans and probably whoever put up the graffiti can. But, I dont think that particular place allows it

    do you have videos of top things to bring when going on a hiking?...not professional hiking..like more of a casual ''ooohh this place looks good might as well dwelve in the place for a couple or more hours then go back'' kind of things...but also place where there's a travel route and not gonna go out of bounds...

    • @AdventureArchives
      @AdventureArchives  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, so like what to bring if you're not staying the night? Me personally I would say bring a platypus for water since they're so convenient, and then just a lunch. If you're day hiking you don't really need anything else unless you want to do some random bushcraft or start a fire for fun. Oh, a headlamp would be good too in case you're out after dark, those are essential for night time. -Robby

      @AdventureArchives  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, and just realized you asked if we have any videos. We don't, but our gear loadout is like the most requested video. It's high on our priority list! -Robby

    could you give directions ?i go to mt boney infrequently and would love a short hike now & then.really just need to know where it's cool to park.thanks

    • @AdventureArchives
      @AdventureArchives  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure! Below is a link on google maps. There are a few different areas you can park and hike from, but this is the most direct way. When in doubt, just open google maps and type in "Cave of Muntis" and that should do the trick. If you're not sure where it is, just ask around- it's carved into the side of El Escorpion and you shouldn't be able to miss it!
