    I'm considering buying a few for some larger situations. - I run FOH at some of Chicago's largest venues as well as Engineer at several recording studios. I can not find out, from any source (not even Behringer), how the phantom power works vs the mains power. 3 questions which are important to me: 1) if not using mains, but I'm using all 8 channels, does phantom have to be on for every channel, or can just one channel with phantom power the whole unit? 2) Does the front power switch control mains and phantom, or just mains? 3) what are the specs for phantom, does it require 48V, or will some of the lower voltage versions of phantom work? Thanks in advance. And great video, BTW, thanks!

    Great video thanks. I have a speaker out from the guitar amp. Would i just plug that into the bottom input jack and send that XLR out to the mixing board? I guess I don't understand the link Jack.

    Hi! can you change the direction of the XLR/TRS? to accomodate the XLR towards the rear of the rack and hide the TRS inside of the rack?

    Is it possible to turn the ears around so that the XLR's are on the front?

    Our keyboard has a stereo out would I need to use 2 jacks and XLR out to the mixer? And then on the mixer take up 2 XLR spots?

      2 XLR Spots for stereo Imaging or else you can use 1 for a mono signal out

    Your last comment regarding appropriate load back from the guitar speaker out on tube amps…how does the impedance work? Is quiet recording still possible with this?

    Can this take line level and drop it to instrument level using the pad setting?

    One more question, will this work as good alternative for earphone amps? Thanks!

      +Razoreye as for headphone amps, that is a separate piece of equipment. Typically you would plug a direct box into an audio interface or a mixer, then plug the headphones into that. You can also plug the direct box into a headphone amp, which would allow you to use its signal or amplify any other signal, like the iPad or laptop.
      This is similar to the one I have: www.amazon.com/ART-HeadAmp6-Professional-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B0012NQAHQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1500481135&sr=8-1&keywords=art+headamp+6

    I saw your other video on direct box recording. It was interesting. Do you really thing it helps more than an audio interfaces pre amp ?I want to let you know, even if I don't agree with you, I still respect your opinion. Good video.

    • @YourHomeRecording
      @YourHomeRecording  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a noticeable difference in the frequency response you get from the direct box compared to the preamp, if the preamp doesn't have an instrument mode. If the audio interface can be put in instrument input mode, then it acts as a direct box and the audio quality will be fine. Otherwise, if it can't, a direct box is better.

      I have been bypassing my pre amps lately using external mic pre amps with Hi-Z for instruments. Adds more color. You have some great videos. Subscribed.

    Did I understand this correctly I can take the amp output and directly plug this into the input of the di pro ex this will handle 100watt Marshall without a power soak or attenuation?

    • @YourHomeRecording
      @YourHomeRecording  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. That's not correct. Plug the guitar into the direct box, not the amp.

    • @ayycee1691
      @ayycee1691 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YourHomeRecording Actually, that is correct. The video even talks about it starting around 2:04. You can run from the output of an amplifier, up to 3000w output, using the -30db pad. When you use a tube amp, you still need to run from the link to a speaker so your amp still sees the proper load otherwise you risk damaging your output tubes. So, if you're trying to get full-volume tone from the power amp output into the DI800 without the full-volume sound of the speaker, you'd still need a power soak/attenuator/etc. So, amp into DI800, XLR to your mixer, and Link output to attenuator into the speaker. Solid State amps generally should be fine without running a cab.

    Very informative video! Noob question: can ULTRA-DI PRO DI800 also handle bass guitar input like ordinary passive/active DI boxes? And can it handle signal from say, iPads or Laptops for playback output?
    Would just want to be sure before we purchase one. Thanks in advance

    • @YourHomeRecording
      @YourHomeRecording  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Razoreye yes this di box works great for bass! I'm not quite sure what you're planning on doing with the laptop or iPad. Those signals don't typically require a direct box for anything.

    • @razoreyeesports9974
      @razoreyeesports9974 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow thats cool, thanks for the info! Yeah, I'm thinking of having an ipad/laptop to playback backing tracks and click tracks over to the mixer via to Ultra-DI, instead of the usual direct boxes in the market. Will that work? What do you think?

    Can i use it with mics? I Would like to boost the sm58's signal with the +20 pad.

    • @YourHomeRecording
      @YourHomeRecording  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you'll need a preamp instead. If you're interested in a budget option from Behringer, check out the Ultragain Pro MIC2200.

    Wow, a rather confusing clip about what this product does. All is being talked about here are guitars, instrument inputs, live shows, etc. Whereas, for example, we only uae these in a mixing and playback studio, screening room, for line-level unbalanced signal outputs converted to balanced. I am sure DI-800 does all that the poster says it does, but that is only about half of what it does.
