  • 2023 has been a great year at Phoenix Instinct. We have now completed the development for the Phoenix i lightweight Hybrid wheelchair and are getting it ready for market.
Our founder Andrew Slorance has been using the chair for the past 12 months - it has transformed his mobility.
Contact us via email at info@phoenixinstinct.com or fill in our contact form at www.phoenixinstinct.com/phoen... if you are interested in one of the first build slots for the Phoenix i this spring
We are very much looking forward to what 2024 brings

I dig it but I would rather buy just the powered castors

Brilliant! Do you also produce for use a single arm user (one-arm drive)?

Thanks Marcos. We dont - you will need to be able to use both hands to activate the assist as it is push rim activated. You will also need to be able to steer the chair using the rear wheels. The Phoenix i is a manual chair with power assist built in.

@@marcosdamota7926 Hello, we have done some further testing and it may be possible. A possible obstacle would be if you wanted to turn the opposite way to the wheel you are propelling - you would need to do a 180° turn. You would likely need to try this out before we could confirm if it will work for you. If you are on our contact list we will provide you with more information about this when the chair is available.

I had an Atto Sport scooter that had a powered front wheel. I went through a puddle and it died.. How have you dealt with water proofing on your design? atb :)

The front wheels are splash proof and good enough for bad weather and puddles. We do not recommend submerging them however if an environment occured that couldnt be avoided eg If for example you were to be in the situation where you had to go through flood water we would recommend switching off the assist and using the chair manually. After getting out of the water we would recommend drying the wheels completely before using again. We offer spare wheels when ordering so this would be a good time to switch to new ones whilst the old ones dried out.
