My husband actually just built me a new PC this weekend so that I could play KEY and other future Nancy games! I previously had a gaming laptop but it could hardly keep up with MID when I played it, so I figured it was time for an upgrade! :D
Well, so much for getting it for my birthday. Games 2-32 run on my laptop perfectly, MID could be played at the lowest settings, which made it even less polished. I shouldn't need a gaming PC to play Nancy Drew. The only game I'd spend thousands of dollars to play is the new Elder Scrolls game, so I have decades to save up.
I'm hoping that my Windows 11 laptop I've got will be able to run KEY, as I've had it less than 2 years! I will have to check my Windows 11 laptop and check if it up to date on updates or not. I only know certain basic tech and online stuff, so i will see how that goes with checking everything, etc. I did check my storage space on my laptop and have plenty of space, as im pretty sure i looked at the right thing on my laptop.
Huw, you will be interested to know that I tried this game on our Windows 7 computer and so far it is running just fine. All I have done so far is some stuff in the cafe but I would be surprised if that isn't enough to make a determination. Assuming one's system specs are otherwise good enough, it looks like Windows 7 is not officially supported but that it does work.
This is absurd and actually pisses me off. Part of what was so great about Nancy Drew games was that they were so accessible. Pretty much anyone with a PC could play them. Now I not only won't be able to play it on my laptop, I won't even be able to play it on my husband's gaming computer that he bought LESS THAN 5 YEARS AGO. 😡
I just got a new computer today and I took a random day off work a few weeks ago not realizing it’s the same day as the game release. So now I’m really excited. 😊
Linux clew crew will have to find clues to run this without Windows per se. One of them is try and run the game through Valve's Proton. It is sucky that developer is experiencing the survivor's bias, despite game engines making cross-platform export easy and operating system being free. But as someone pointed out in the comments, as I think conceivable less than being limited to 2 OSs, system requirements themselves are inaccessible. Minimum 6 GB of RAM is going a bit overboard... But I'll see how it runs on mine.
does anyone know id the VRAM or RAM would be the reason I cannot see the milk in the latte art? My system meets all the other requirements but im still unable to finish it no matter how low i set my graphics to.
Hi there! I would suggest reaching out to HeR Interactive’s tech support team! They should be able to help more than I can. You can email them at techsupport@herinteractive.com
I dont understand the Mac specs, they say you need an Intel Chip. But Macs have used silicon M chips since 2020. WIll the game work on these "new" computeres?
I don't think the point-and-click option will have any effect on the computer specs, sadly. It will still be running a fully 3D game instead of the 2D frames of the past.
Hi there! It'll depend on what kind of hardware your computer has inside of it. I would definitely recommend comparing your computer specs with the ones that can be found on the game page: www.herinteractive.com/shop-games/34-nancy-drew-mystery-of-the-seven-keys/
The game requires at least Windows 10 64-bit, so if you have that then you're good! If you've got anything below Windows 10 (Windows 8, 7, Vista, etc.), then you will not be able to run the game.
@@marianapgar4409 It's very possible! Honestly I'm not too sure at all, but if anyone has a Windows 7 PC and is planning on playing the game on there, I would be super curious about whether or not it would run!
@@NancyDrewWalkthroughs Thanks for the info, so sad I can’t play after waiting years for the new game. 😩 It’s kind of crazy they expect us to spend $600 to upgrade our computers to play the game when the old games used to be so accessible!
And that means my relationship with ND games and her interactive is over. If this game is anything like MID, I refuse to spend money to upgrade just to play a subpar game. What were they thinking? If it aint broke, dont fix it...

@@poetstars-xk5xhyeah, I get it. Gaming in general isn’t a great option on a laptop. It’s definitely a jump in a different direction. We’ll see how it plays out. Hopefully the optimization on this game is better than MID.

I'm sure if you play in the point and click mode, most pcs could run that. They removed the moving animation which I'm sure slowed things down

I agree that we should not need a gaming PC to play Nancy Drew. And thus far, the increased system requirements have not meant a better game.

They should. From what I’ve seen they are comparable.
Btw this totally confused me too. 🙃
Mid wouldn't run with the proper specs on one laptop for me. I hope Key will work on my new one which definitely has the proper specs.
I wondering if choosing the point-and-click option will not require these specs.
