Explaining your funding via a day in the life montage was a great idea and very well executed! Great editing! And really useful info. I love watching you two because you have such a great energy about you. Thanks!

The thoughtfulness that went into setting up the transitions for your editing was phenomenal. It's worth watching you every week just to see what creative ways you set up your cuts. Probably the best production/entertainment value I've ever seen on a TH-cam video. Nice job! I hope you can keep it up!

Finally the Atticus episode. So I binge watch theirs first and saw you 2 on theirs and as soon as I finished them all I started watching yours. I love them both. You each have your own unique ways of doing things so it’s great to see the different prospectives. Love you guys. You all rock.

As always, I love your videos.....we all do! I think one of the greatest thingest you contribute is the idea that the world isn't all that big. What do I mean. I watched project Adicus from the beginning as I did your channel. Now you're off sailing and meeting in for what for most of us is a far off corner of the world. You started off in New England they started off in Florida and now your together. Amazing! The number one thing is you are all such nice people and notoriously hard workers! You set an amazing example of what people can achieve if they only dare to try! Thanks for setting that example! God Bless You!

You two are such an inspiration. That you made all of this happen with such a limited set of funds really lends hope to my ambitions. Thank you.
By the way, this is one of your best videos so far. It would have been easy to sit in front of the screen and answer the money question, but instead you chose to apply your imagination and creativity to the task. Keep up the good work.

After discovering you a few weeks ago, I went back and have been binge-watching since the beginning. We did the full-time traveling thing for 5 years via RV in the US. During that time, I found the Wynns when they were still RV-ing. I love the water and have taken many commercial cruises to the islands, but I have never sailed. I think we're too old to work as hard as y'all do so I enjoy living vicariously through the few sailing channels I've stumbled upon while watching the Wynns. Most I don't ever watch again, but you two are just so authentic and natural and I'm thoroughly enjoying watching your channel from the very beginning. I just thought I'd take a minute to say hey and wish you more flat seas and flat sails!

So I watched Project Atticuis first before I watched you two. I am so hooked on Sailing Uma and Project Atticuis that I am In the process of purchasing my sailboat and sailing the world. Its 5-7-21 now and the pandemic is slowly lifting in the U.S. My 2 year mark is in play. My youngest kid finishes high school to run off to college. Both Sailing Uma and Project Atticuis showed me through the lens that this can happen and I can do this. I will be doing this solo as to my daughter is my only family. So it will be tough and I will keep watching and following you all.. Thank You So Much!!!!!! Oh And Dan watch your head. I had an injury the same and it has complicated things in my life as well. I will be wearing a safety helmet at my doctors request. Be safe all of you. Retired USCG.........

Hey guys, great vid! I know it is probably boring and invasive feeling, but this is probably one of the most important subjects for those who actually are gonna "go for it". You have tons of great, entertaining, videos for those who for whatever reason will never cast off the lines, be it obligations, health etc. This one is really for the ones who want to do it too. I bought a 29' boat a year ago, fixed it up, and traded it for a 35 footer that needs work. Heading down to Florida Friday to start fixing it up. Good luck on your next phase of your cruising life.

Dan, bicarbonate of soda and crushed dried mint to brush your teeth! My husband had problems with his teeth for years. Sensitivity! He no longer suffers from that sense he has been brushing for 4 years with bicarbonate of soda and crushed dried mint! Also one tea spoon of bicarbonate of soda and dried sage finely crushed is a natural bacteria killer, I had inflamed tonsils and began gargling with the bicarbonate of soda and sage after a night spent with almost zero sleep, I gargled 4 times the next day and slept well that night, yet I did continue for three days with the sage and avoided going to the doc's! That same mix is also great to fight all bacterial infections ie cuts, bites and even a soak a week for smelly feet with just bicarbonate and warm water and it works like a charm! just want to say that every little helps!

You kids have the right idea, NO DEBT! My parents went through the Great Depression and you couldn't get them to borrow money. When they built their first home, they'd build until their money ran out and stop until they had saved more.
As for dentists I dislike going also but like I tell our kids/grand-kids,(but they don't listen)(:

Just found your posts. A great story. I see you are in Great Britain now. Awesome. Before we got our Fleming we sailed a Pearson 39-2 for years in the Chesapeake and New England. A great boat that will always get you home. But even more that that your dedication and tenacity make you the best of the best amount “coastal cruisers”. When you said that at the boat show I cracked up. Looking forward to the day we cross paths at sea. 😎

Excellent video!!! Not sure where I fall in your 4 different categories but... I’m and an old guy who lost all of my savings (and my sailboat) in an investment that I made 6 years ago. When I say “all of my savings” I mean all of it! Plus all of my personal belongings that were in a storage unit that I couldn’t afford when I got behind. So they auctioned everything off. My childhood dream to sail the world was all but gone and I wasn’t getting any younger. But somehow perseverance has paid off. Jump ahead to now... with the help of many wonderful people I’ve somehow managed to find myself in a position to buy another boat and set sail this fall. Your video proved to me that it can be done with a small amount of income and a strong belief in yourself. There are many who call me crazy and irresponsible for doing what I’m about to do but there are many more who have encouraged me to go for it. I’ve essentially lost six year of my sailing life but gained a new perspective of what’s important in life. So thank you for helping me to believe and for keeping me inspired. Keep doing what you’re doing.

I love that you are transparent with your patron channel earnings - you deserve the success and every penny people want to send you. You may be visiting much more expensive destinations in the future but I think with your frugal nature I think in a few more years you will have saved enough to do this indefinitely. Maybe one day you'll run Uma Nation training schools and expeditions to share the love and sense of adventure. Or we just binge watch and do it ourselves! Seriously though, given that you can effectively make a pretty decent living doing this now why would you ever stop? Have you ever had that thought or contemplated a future time when you'd have it?

For me, this was so well done with the passing off to one another for the different segments. Commercials use the same technique with great effectiveness! I had asked previously what you did for a living, but I remember now that you are BOTH architects. I pursued electrical engineeringand later in life my interests turned to architecture as I enjoyed designing my own houses.
I am doing a lot of binge watching and only have a little over 100 steps to go to catch up! But THEN I will have to wait a week for the next one!

  • @outabeat
    @outabeat 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ok, for the challenges.... One of the things I always thought would be cool to do would be an island cove poker run. You would need several people for this one. Maybe a bunch of the locals and then tip them at each station? So you set up 5 different stations where you would draw a card (each station a distance away that would require a full speed run in the dinghy). There would be someone manning each station. And at each station there would be some sort of unique drink that you would need to consume before moving onto the next station. By the time you go through all 5 stations you would have a full hand of cards and you can proceed to the finish. Now here's the kicker. You can discard 2, but you'll need to get in the dinghy and haul ass back to 2 DIFFERENT stations to get 2 new cards. Continuing with the drink ritual at the respective stations. Then haul ass back to the finish and put your cards in. The winner gets a prize and the losers take a shot of something straight from the bottle. POKER RUN VIA DINGHY!

I certainly understand Dan's reluctance to visit a dentist. I be baby and I don't mind saying it. I wouldn't feel that way if there was no pain....like putting me to sleep as I walk thru the office door would help. Uma has quite a loyal following and her monetary worth is much higher than the dollars spent on her, so far.....

Can't help remembering that Uma came with a $20 bill in one of the draws - almost as if she new that's what you'd be leaving with :-)! Brilliant editing in this video - loved the Teleporting Dan (had to rewind to spot the cut!) Thanks for addressing the aspect of money, I know it must be annoying to be asked so much but despite doing my best to avoid them you end up with liabilities (couches!) so money is often the limiting factor. Now I need to go see a dentist...

Since timer was taking way ... way too much time, the flash apparently triggered by pointing a "gun" at it :)

Brilliant I loved your editing. I had a long dental procedure once.. Possibly root canal.. I went to sleep and nearly bit my dentist. So don't stress..

Nice work on the vid. 3 ideas:Try to find out which person can climb the highest up the mast unassisted. Use a safety line and harness support of course. Knot tying contest, how many tied properly in 2 minutes. And, if you're really bold, in teams of two, be the fastest to stem the flow of water by blocking an open seacock (i.e. hole) with a fothering sail! Have someone ready to close the seacock before water goes above the sole!

When I became a nomad, it was not what I was expecting from life, it just happened. I was broke and first I thought about getting a sailingboat but it was financial not possible. I had a $300 budget monthly. Because I lost everything except my cloth on my body and a few little thing, I got new stuff and a backpack and startet a minimalistic life and became a nomad. That is a reason I love to watch your Videos and your Videos are inspiration for me. So with your videos and what I learn out of this, I hope I might be able to make this first step, I could not, one day.
For everybody who read this, save the standard comments about who did something wrong, my situation is because I became a victim of crime, followed up by a victim of justice and then in all together a victim of racism. So, because my mother came as a refugee to my country they put me into this stereotype. I don't want to talk about this anymore, on my webpage I did write a little about it.
Thank you for the Videos and inspiration!
