Ecto Flex’n! - Element RC Ecto Rock Crawling - Flexing Friday

Rock crawling on the Zen Rock Garden with the Element RC Enduro Ecto. It was a nice afternoon, but the downside was that all the neighbours were also out…making noise. There were also squirrels, magpies, trucks, airplanes, and trains creating a lot of ambient noise. Argh! Well, I was able to dial down most of that noise in post production, so we get to relax and hear the truck do it’s thing.
No complaints on the performance of the Ecto. Its weight, balance, ride height, and suspension travel are all about perfect right now. Maybe the General Grabber tires are not the best winter treads, but the did okay.
The Ecto did fail on one line that most other trucks have been doing quite easily. Its a steep ledgy climb with a sharp right hand turn at the top. I suspect that the longer wheelbase actually worked against the Ecto, not because it could’t make the turn, but because its rear wheels were still on the snow when the front wheels had crested the top ledge.
The Ecto is by far my most capable straight-axle rock crawler. Surprisingly, the VS4-10 Phoenix Portal might best it for pure technical ability, but it's also slightly handicapped by the height of the portals and the limited flex.
