That's what makes H & M such great Eagle parents - E17 finally got worn out and took a nap, so M took the moment to make sure E18 got a a good long private feeding during the lull, it was wonderful to watch - E18 really looks like it has been through the wringer compared to the Coiffed look of E17, but it was funny seeing E18 get some payback bonks in as E17 awoke. :)
Dad always makes sure all are well fed. It was the same with E15 & E16. When Harriet favoured E15 come feeding time, Dad would ensure E16 got his due as well. Forever attentive to everyone's needs.

M looks like he developed a way to let the chicks pull a little piece to eat from a big piece and he looks around to see if harriett is going to catch him and yell at him for it.
I've noticed when they get bonked they stay down. Also the stronger eaglet often has the weaker one pinned down by his wing or even body weight. They seem to "lay down" like they were knocked out or just trying to protect themselves.
17 came out the egg shell bonking at 18. 18 just wanted to be fed. But 18 is holding its own. These two will be going after each other on this nest. It's fun watching them grow into their own personalities.
18 is starting to smarten up lay low for alil bit let 17 get it's full then pig out in peace then when 17 gets back up then whack! right in the kisser lol just love H & M The King & Queen of all the Bald Eagle nests
a get a kick out of the bonkfests, so funny/cute to watch. think about it: the worst was definitely E15 dominating E16 out of feedings. as bad as that seemed, their rivalry taught them great lessons in winning food thru aggression and stealing, respective to each E. dont fret the jabs. its how they will learn to survive. plus, how's it not funny when one rears back, winds up his little head, then WHAM? lol
The nest cup is a perfect size. The eaglets have doubled in size already since hatch! That is why it looks smaller! No worries, they will be venturing outside the nest cup very soon!

It’s hard to watch the weak eaglet being attacked by its sibling and to note the parent does not interfere so it often goes with eaglets.
