    I had one of these filters, I used a pressure washer every 3 months or so to clean out the screen, worked a treat.

      @madaboutkoi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a few people do that matey. However you got to be careful with the pressure as ive heard some stories of split screens using jet washers

    Deff needed a clean ,think Mark could be right about that UV, Wrighty fitted one and it's doing a good job on his drum.still love those fish mate.😁

      Thanks fella, oh it was desperate mate. The flow rate was probably less than half of what its capable of

    Hi that looks like tricky job cant you fit amalgam submersible uv in your drum on the clean side this is what I have on my profidrum when I purchased it from Darren at Absolute kio he put in a proper tank connector for me before I received delivery from him the point I am making is mine was two years old September this year the drum screen never needs cleaning and is still as clean as day one.This means I don’t have to have separate uv unit just food for thought.How is your next part of your roof project coming along? looking forward to seeing next instalment.👍

      Cheers fella. Yeah im considering using a one in there. I was just concerned about it damaging the plastic seals.

      Oh and the roof is coming on great. Cladding done, insulation done, lats in place for tile system. Just im short of a few tiles 🙈🙈

    Mad about koi, I'm mad about your koi they look beautiful my friend 👍👍
    The drum definitely needed a clean
    I don't think I would use brick acid in the pond tho I be to scared 😂😂
    Brick acid is pretty strong but I've heard alot of people use it to clean all different stuff like alloy wheels bring them up like new 😂😂.
    Hope all is well my friend👍👍👍
    Well done on hitting 2k subs 👍👍

    Never had problem with amalgam submersible uv changed bulb recently you need to change them every 22months or 16000 hours I think of top of my head 🤔 when changed it over you could see old bulb had seen better days but every 22 months or so I am ok with that also found cheaper supplier in London than any where else online and any pond shops lol.You sound as tho you have been very busy with your pond roof any video coming soon so we can have a look at cheer for now.👍

    May I know the drum's water buffer board which looks like 1 inch thick is made from what material? Is it fiberglass or some kind of plastic?

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The black moving bed?

    • @lateboomer88
      @lateboomer88 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean the separation board inside the drum filter, which separates the drum into 2 sections of clean water side and dirty buffer side. Anyway, I found the website which says is polypropylene material. May I know its thickness?

    Is it not possible to remove your screens ?

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably yes but would imagine its a hassle getting them on and off. Much easier this way

  • @TerjeNormann

    If you install an UVC filter inside your drum filter box, your mesh will stay clean without acid cleaning.

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Always been nervous about using them incase it degrades any seals within the drum.

  • @habitusbuildingsystems5929

    If you add a UV in your RDF, you’ll NEVER have to clean it like this again. It will stay permanently pristine. Go to Wrighty’s TH-cam channel. He has a video showing what he did and the results

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah ive considered it. I was just concerned at the UV attacking the seals

  • @djgtuk2012
    @djgtuk2012 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That looks extremely labour intensive and you'll forgive me if i dont put acid anywhere near my filter or pond! Get yourself some virkon and this would have been a lot shorter!

    • @madaboutkoi
      @madaboutkoi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The amount of acid actually used is minimal. It doesnt have any effect on the pond at all. Ive done this several times since with no adverse effects. An even better solution is a amalgam UV within the drum however ive always been concerned at how the UV effects the seals within the drum.
